We had booked with this hotel after checking they operated a 24 reception. And we confirmed this with the owner on booking .com chat so he was aware we would arrive after midnight. Unfortunately when we arrived at 00:10 they had cancelled our booking 5 minutes before we arrived at the hotel and when we knocked on the door and rang the bell the porter answered after 10 minutes ( so he had obviously fallen asleep) and explained they had given the room away!!! DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS HOTEL if you are planning to arrive late as they obviously do not operate a 24 hour front desk!

Good price/quality, so understand what you’ll get for the very low price. Wouldn’t stay here for multiple nights, but great for a short 1 night stay, close to the town center. Friendly people and the public areas are nicely decorated. Their well groomed cat is the cutest.

Honestly, we had a lovely stay here and we even returned for our last night in costa rica before our flight. At the arrival in san jose we got pickpocketed in a bus from the airport and the guys from delcafetalcr took us to the police station, waited for us something like 2 hours until we were done with the report and took us back to the hostel. We can't thank them enough! They can also sell you a sim card and activate it for you. We used them for the transfer to the airport and transfer to a bus station in SJO. They are trustworthy, kind, friendly and the shared bathrooms get cleaned very often. The icing on the cake? Their cute cat Emma, sometimes she is around and she is very sweet. Great place to stay if you to want to stay somewhere with clean rooms, on a budget, with a central location in San José near Sabana Park, and if you prefer to be in a place with warm and friendly people running it.You will also enjoy the unique decorative items in the common area, and if you get really lucky, you may get to see the house cat, Emma! She’s one of the more likeable cats I’ve ever met!

Very comfortable, quiet hotel in a secure and safe area with everything in walking distance. Stayed over two weeks during a visa renewal process and was even upgraded to a bigger room at no extra cost for staying longer than we originally planned. I will definitely be using this hotel for my overnight stays in San Jose for the future!
