This place is terrible. We had 3 rooms. In one room the air conditioner wasn’t working, you couldn’t use the hammock because one of the supports were missing and some of the lights in the room didn’t work. We also were not given joining rooms and so the room next to me had screaming children who were constantly trying to open the door between rooms. In the other room it was very dirty, like it hadn’t been cleaned at all. There was also feces sitting in the toilet, but had the “seal of cleanliness” on top of the seat!!!!!!! Disgusting!!! The guests for the third room haven’t arrived yet. I am scared to think what they will encounter. I would give 0 stars if I could.

The receptionist wasn’t welcoming, and did not inform us that we can remain in the installation for lunch even after check out. We were inform about this at the check out. The drinks service at the restaurant is slow and limited. It seems that you can only request 2 per person. The towels in the rooms and pool towels would benefit from fabric softener. Cockroach in the room. Our first visit 2 years ago was extraordinary. Notably the service has decreased.

Beautiful place. A lot of flora. Food was good at times. My wife said she liked the food all of the time. Staff where very helpful and nice. I gave three because the place we were given (not in the hotel), did not have hot water, linen were dirty, TV did not have good channels to choose from, the pool water looked green (it looked blue some 10 years ago). I came out scratching my body right after I got out from the pool. Good thing is that free and drink is included in the payment. I recommend you to buy if you going to Montelimar at Snaptravel app. I would come back but I would avoid the pool.

Worst all inclusive barcelo hotel. The ac in my room was not working, reception did not pick up the phones neither on direct line nor on the landline, the room smelled like cigarettes even though smoking inside is not allowed and the smoke detector seemed faulty. There are was no soap in my brother’s room and their toilet was filthy and clearly used despite it having the seal that it had just been cleaned. Octavio from maintenance was really helpful and thoughtful but the admin from the hotel is clearly not on top of the guests and the overall care of the hotel.

The worst of the worse! disgusting rooms, disgusting food, disgusting pools, rooms full of cockroaches, towels in the rooms and pool towels smelled disgusting, casino closed, only one place served snacks and was nasty food, horrible atmosphere, people eating near the pools and left the garbage there. Restaurant was a bit crazy with people pushing as if they had never seen a buffet I would not visit again. They have a private beach, but much trash was washed up on the beach and I never saw any staff walking through to pick any up... The only good thing about that horrible place was the staff, very good staff, very nice workers. I heard only excellent things about this place, I arrived expecting to find what many people had recommended to me, and surprise, I found nothing what I expected. Don't waste your money on this disgusting place, there are many places in Nicaragua that are amazing .

Just to be good. Food is no as good as before. No to much food variety as before. Limit of 4 beer per customer. National hard liquor unlimited. They don't allow early check-in. But they kick you out early. As many Nicaraguan places they don't look for changes as time passes by. Needs a make over. They need to hire better kitchen staff.

Menu decreased quality. Check out it's complicated. Maintenance could use a boost. Many things has changed since a year ago. I hope they read the reviews.

The pool and jacuzzi were nice, we had bungalow rooms, they were nice, it is super dark once the sun goes down, they definitely should include more lighting, us and everyone around had to turn on their phone flashlight. Our rooms had ants/fire ants. I woke up with ants on my body and another family member had fire ants fall on her face while she slept. The advertisement of them cooking in front of you is false. The food options were limited, we were very unhappy with the food being offered, and did not eat very well in any of the 3 times. The food is also offered certain times a day, if you are hungry outside of those times, you would have to buy food. I was in the bathroom and there was a fat medium spider by my feet! We had reserved horseback riding and when we received our rooms, they told us we were unable because they injected the horses. I mean if we made reservations, why would they inject the horses and them needing to rest 24 hours? The casino is NOT OPEN, it is still "Under Remodelation" Since Covid started. The bathrooms were dirty, they need to do a better job at cleaning. The AC definetly needs an upgrade. The staff is very friendly, and it is not their fault. I was planning to work from my room, but there is no wifi in the rooms, it is only in the the reception, but was not mentioned at all. My family of 8 will not be returning.

If you want old school plantation style vacation this is the spot. It is a very large property with beautiful trees, plants, and grounds. It is old and not new and shiny. It feels old world high end resort that is aging and barely being kept ahead of total break down. The little duplexes are nice and spacious for a room. They are clean and comfortable. Everything inside is very favorable. Where the resort just doesn't match up to truly nice resorts is the service or lack thereof. Firstly to get around there is a micro bus that is not very comfortable and not always easy to find. Other resorts of this size and type usually have many golf carts running around for people. The food is mediocre at best. Night activities are very limited and the bars only except cash. When in an all inclusive except alcohol this is terribly annoying. The beach is very steep and not one of the most beautiful in Nicaragua.

We stayed in Barcelo just recently. Our family loves the flora and the lay out with many trees and the beach is great... however this time around the service quality was way below expectation. To start 3 out of 7 members had some kind of food poisining, diarrhea, nausea, right the first lunch after check in. After that the blankets in the rooms in one of the beds were dirty, we got 2 rooms and in both rooms we had issues with the air conditioning. People were nice and friendly but we will definitely look for another spot for our next vacation. By the way.. i was one of ones that had to put up with a nasty diarrhea and wasnt able to sleep at all because of it and the ac not working properly.

If I could give this place a negative rating. I would! This place sucks! If you are a tourist do not come here! Service from employees is horrible. They have a bad attitude and don’t want to help. The food is full of flies and food is cold. Rooms have bugs in them and smell. A/C does not work and looks old. Tv is snowy and doesn’t really work. Wifi does not work in rooms. Overall place is run down.

Internet in the rooms sucks or is non-existent, over priced rooms for what you get. AC hard to operate and old, dresser lamp doesn't work. Personal service very good. Food....not bad. Got a room change and so did the whole trip! Excellent service at the Oceana restaurant. Sunsets are simply beautiful. Overall, I'd come back.

The all you can eat buffet and the location is very nice. The food is lack luster. I have come here 3 times and each time the food is worse. Please hire new people. Last time during lunch the food was so bad I just didn't eat.

EDITED REVIEW: The staff walks around pressuring you into leaving 5-star reviews with no comments. They don't care if you're swimming or what you're doing, they will ask you to do it right then and there while they look over your shoulder. This place used to be amazing, it used to feel like luxury, and you wanted to stay as long as you could. Now? I could not wait to leave. The nicest part of the experience was the driver who picked us up from the airport, and even he was a bit late. There is barely anything to do and the staff don't seem to want to be there either. The frontdesk forgot to give us pool towel cards, were of little to no help when we were locked out of our room, and couldn't even recommend things to do at around 1-2 PM. How is there nothing to do but lay around the pool/beach, eat, and drink watered down liquor? I am so sad and disappointed by this experience. I wouldn't come back nor recommend my family to unless YEARS go by and things actually improve. You're better off going to another hotel in Montelimar or going to San Juan del Sur.

Dont believe the google rating, workers walk around all day persuading guests to give them 5 stars on everything. Rooms - Normal sized Hotel/Bungalow huts. Bathrooms couldve been cleaner. Food - Actually really good compared to other resorts. No issues here. Service - Terrible. Waiters took forever bringing us drinks & silverware. Bartenders look bothered when we ask for drinks like its not there job?…. Amenities - Adult only pool is a myth…. Lots of kids in there. Hot tub just bubbles, its not hot. Casino is closed. ATV “Tour” is not a tour, just a rental. Shows are probably the only amenities that is legit & entertaining. Overall, this resort needs alot of work. They are lucky theyre the only all inclusive resort in Nicaragua because if this place had some competition, they wouldnt last.

The food quality and the customer service provided by the employees were terrible. At night there were literally like 3 outages (5 to 10 min long) and the casino does not open anymore. Finally, most of the other people hosted in there were so impolite and the beach was dirty. Definitely, Montelimar is not the place I used to know few years ago, me as a loyal customer since 2010.

This place isn't anything like it used to be, year by year the place gets more deteriorated. Food isn't good anymore, rooms are outdated, furniture is old.

The only All Inclusive resort in Nicaragua. Food is mid range, pool is awesome, drinks are mid range better bring your own good quality bottle. The place has great green areas and beach. Rooms are comfortable, AC is a bit old you can't select the right temperature. All in all good vacations for your money.

I recommend Barcelo Montelimar. Fo the customer service oriented staff, which is so important in any kind of business. In particular I would like to mention Reyna Corea, Lissette Bermudez and Alonzo Rodríguez whom made me feel at home and wanting to come back. Hiubert Castellon.

Use caution if you have any dietary restriction, there is little to no signage and the staff did not know if the food was gluten free.

Spent new years here two times and had a great time. Staff was great and its someplace ill definitely be returning to. So much to do there. Tennis, basketball, Volleyball courts and a great beach. Some spots reminded me of scenes from Great Expectations. Wonderful...

I don't know how they cook without light. The resteraunt didn't have a light on...what's new in Nicaragua...the car or motorcycle lights don't come on until 2 hours after it's dark..news flash, u don't pay an electric bill for your car lights. But seriously they do a sufficient job, given someone is responsible for taking this beautiful country to 2nd all time for poverty. Shame.

We booked two days one night. The tv in our room didn't work, the coffee machine and telephone either. We had to call to the number on the website to speak to someone in reception. They sent a person from maintenance and the guy didn't solve a thing. The schedule they have for the bar and pool are nonsense. Completely disappointed. Also, the casino was closed.

It's a nice place for sharing with you couple, food, pool and fun everywhere you looking at. At night, they have a party with karaoke. It's great all included resort.

I used to like this place, but I don’t recommend it any more. The big pool is a big charco verde, I didn’t let my kids swim in that! Terrible! Unbelievable ! Three of us got sick, vomiting, diarrhea, We contacted people in charge, but they don’t have a emergency protocol, no medicines, no nurse, nothing! We run to little city about 15 min away To find help. You are on your own here. Stay away from this place !
