(Translated by Google) I arrived at this small but interesting museum, purely by chance, since it is located in the center of government of the city of San Miguel. I needed to make some governmental steps, without hesitation I entered and I could have one of the most dazzling cognitive experiences, although it does not count with enough publicity to be incorporated into the tourist route (something well-deserved) for the variety of pre-Columbian articles that compose it as well as all the historical reviews related to the colonial work of the city of San Miguel mainly, and the eastern region in general, the attention of the staff are very friendly support and explain the story in greater detail. I consider the regional museum should be part of the best sights of the city of San Miguel carnivals.

This one of the best museums of art I've seen in Central America As of the day I'm writing this review there are currently 3 exhibitions, one of modern art (Bienal d Dibujo), one of the life of a Chinese immigrant, which in and of itself is a beautiful story of cultural differences; and a cultural exhibition of societal conflict and turmoil that plagued the country in the past century, along side it shows it's rich history and hidden talent that lies in this small Central American country It's a must visit if you're in the city, you'll get to know a bit more of the history of this beautiful country Entrance is 1.50$ (free on Sundays)

They are currently promoting musical Monday nights. The public access to the museum is on weekends only. Private group visits happen on weekdays.

Small but well curated gallery. The history of El Salvador, depicted in different art styles (and summarised in both English and Spanish) was a particular highlight. It really gave a sense of how El Salvador has evolved, and illustrated the horrors of the recent civil war very well. Free entry on Sunday was a great bonus! They also have free wifi, which makes it easy to translate any signs that aren't on Spanish.

This review score reflects the very restricted opening hours of this museum, and the poor, misleading notification of opening hours on their website. As of 7 January 2024, the museum's website indicated opening hours from 12 January. They also listed the (many) museum holidays throughout the year, and the very extensive break over Christmas '24 and early January '25. Bizarrely, the website did not explicitly list opening - or, more accurately, closing - dates over Christmas 2023 and early January '24. However, given that the museum was closed on 7 January, it would appear that the museum is closed for, at a minimum, eighteen days! While I appreciate that staff need holidays, I have never heard of a major gallery or museum closing for such an extended period in any other country.

Amazing museum. World class art and curation. Don't miss it during your visit to El Salvador! Tickets are only $1.50, $0.50 if you're student and free on Sundays so there's no excuse. The only downside was the gift shop that had no museum merchandise nor specialized art books. Hopefully it'll get better in the future.

You have to stop by here if you’re visiting San Salvador. Great museum, very socially educational and provides some really authentic beautiful art from the people of El Salvador and other Latin American/Spanish artists. Love coming here every time I’m in ES and I’m never disappointed! It’s also free on Sunday. ❤️🇸🇻

1st day in El Salvador and this was a great start to my short visit. The art is wonderful, and the staff are all so kind. *Pamela* was so knowledgable and friendly - thank you for taking the time to talk with me and tell me about the art! For foreigners who aren't residents, admission was only $5. Love love love.

Good space but needs more content. There are a couple of nice paintings. There one room full of junk that literally looks like piles of rubbish, exhibited for longer than one year, surely there must be some artists who would like to exhibit in that room.

The art is impressive for such a small country. There's a lot of social justice in most if the pieces. We didn't like the lack of A/C. It felt 2 or 3 degrees cooler than the outside.

I definitely recommend coming to MARTE. If you can it is better to request a guide so that he can explain more about the paintings. The bathroom was very clean, everything there was neat and clean, to be honest. The only thing that they can improve is that the description of the paintings should be both in spanish and English. I saw many foreigners struggling with spanish.

I will admit that I visited due to the comic con being held there, but was able to see the museum itself and some of the exhibitions that were still open to view, and it's beautiful. All is all, it's not that big of a museum, and it will be good for a day visit as it does has beautiful pieces and sculptures.

The museum isn't the biggest, but it was delightful. Many pieces of art convey messages, and it feels good to have contemporary arts with meaning. It was free, and I would recommend visiting it. Right now, prints on the building are saying that it is closed because of dismantling, but the museum is open.

An amazing display of modern interpretations of superheroes, NFTs, villains, etc. Art schools in the area are well represented.

Outdoor events might sound like a good idea, but not when everyone nearby has to feel the thumping bass for hours on end.

Way smaller than expected. $5 for foreigners but free on Sundays. All Salvadoran art/artists. Great mix of modern, expressionist, abstract, etc.

Very nice museum, but it is smaller than I thought, so it didn’t take too much time to look around. The entrance fee was 5 USD for foreigners. And the souvenir shop is amazing, everything is beautiful there.

The museum, though small, was outstanding. Due to poor timing on my end I only had 45 minutes until they closed, and definitely would have liked more. The art is world class, and main gallery is a history through art of the country. The art is incredibly powerful and expressive, in large part due to the turmoil of the country. I would expect much of it could be displayed in major world museums. Guillermo was absolutely wonderful in explaining the exhibits and the history (in English since my Spanish is bad). My only complaint is that I wish the gift shop had sold things relevant to the art on display, though the items were of nice quality.

👍👍 This one of the best museums of art I've seen in Central America As of the day I'm writing this review there are currently 3 exhibitions, one of modern art (Bienal d Dibujo), one of the life of a Chinese immigrant, which in and of itself is a beautiful story of cultural differences; and a cultural...
