Cool experience if you’d like to do some outside exploring If you’d like to go down into the crater, please ask for a guide and make sure you have snacks and water cause you’ll need energy to return

Finally went here and wow. My mind was blown and got some great pics with my drone. Drone friendly. They upgraded everything and it looks pretty. If you are not from El Salvador go with family so you can pay the non tourist price.

The hike took about an hour to complete. It is a wonderful ecosystem with many different flowers and fauna. The hike is not too strenuous and it's definitely kid friendly. The view from the top of the volcanic crater is stunning. On your way down the hill, there are many fruit vendors on the side of the street selling many wonderful fruits and veggies. Please stop by to buy something before you leave.

Well worth the visit to El Boqueron National Park! Came here with a tour guide who helped explain how the crater was formed. Fun climb to the top and great views of the caldera! A lot cooler even when hot and humid at San Salvador!

There's a ton of construction happening, building infrastructure here. There's a nice little interpretative center, well developed trails, several restrooms and what will soon be snack stations. Great lookouts. Parking is limited and the road is narrowed with cars parked on one side as you near the park.

This is one of the closest volcanos you can visit from the city center. It's a 28 minute drive from the city centre to the park entrance. Uber is available to take you there as well as pick you up and bring you back. Upon arrival you will pay Two dollars per person per admission. The Uber was nine dollars each way. There are lots of options for food and beverage as well as souvenirs. It's an easy ascent to the lookout where you have a glass floor and a great view of the Caldera.

Be wary of the market people at the base of the hike. They will hound you to check out their food joint. As for the hike, it’s somewhat steep but bring some comfortable shoes and you’ll be fine. There are 4 lookout points and they’re all amazing for photos. Lucky for us, there was a lady selling water bottles.

Beautiful views of the caldera just a short 10 minute hike from the parking lot. Very nice views of San Salvador from a tower in the parking lot as well. The hike to the Volcano viewing area has some very steep steps. Those with limited mobility may not be able to make it.

My first time here was November 14th and I do not regret it. First off, I would like to say how refreshing the cool weather was in this area. I mean Wow, I could see myself living in an area like this! I was instantly put at ease because the last this I really wanted to do walk trails and climb stairs in high heat. I believe I payed a $3 entrance fee as a foreigner, not bad. The beautiful weather in this lush national park made exploration a breeze. There are several vendors along the way just in case you need refreshments. The scenic views of volcanoes and exotic vegetation are sights to behold. Do yourself a favor and visit this beautiful park.

About 6 different views of the same volcano. Cool history behind it, but quite a lot of driving back and forth to take the 10-15 min hike. Vendors selling water at the entrance can be a bit much of annoyance.

Amazing. easy day trip to the very top of a dormant volcano! A few steps make it a slight workout, a perfect trip with children. The access at the top is narrow and parking is difficult and limited. There a several tourist shops and restaurants at the top and needless to say that the views of the capital are breathtaking! ❤️🇸🇻

(Translated by Google) The last eruption of the volcano was in 1917, preceded by an earthquake that destroyed much of San Salvador. The eruption dried the lagoon that was inside the crater. Since 2011 the trails in this park have been improved, although the rest areas are not ideal, it is a good place to visit with the family and appreciate the views of the crater and the cool climate of the area.

Great place to hangout, the park trails are short but can be rather inclined. Can be good excersice for older people, not undoable. The trail to the main crater is closed and that one is a much more difficult hike. Minus one star for closed trail to the main crater.

Not far from San Salvador ($6 Uber from Antiguo Cuscatlan), this park has a little well-organized area to walk around and look down at the volcano cone (boqueron). But the real adventure is exploring other the trails. I spent about three hours walking along the trails. The security said that I couldn't go down in the afternoon because it starts to rain in the afternoon, but no one stopped me. I made it about half of the way down (a portion of the trail was washed out and I heard my wife in my head tellling me that I better not die in El Salvador). It's not just a trail system, but people live in little shacks fairly close to the trails. This means that there are multiple paths. There are signs, but it is easy to get confused, and I had to backtrack. There is also a trail that seems to go on the top of the volcano ridge, but I missed it at first. To go on the ridge, you have to go around and under the Lord-of-the-rings-looking wood plank bridge leading to the restaurant, and then back up on the other side. To go down, you follow the main path that descends from this bridge.

A very beautiful place. Recommendable to visit. It's nice to walk and take some air. Relaxing. Don't go to the restricted area it's too dangerous. Bring some water because it's exhausting to go up. Put a comfortable shoes as well.

Great view of the volcano crater and it has been remodeled nicely, but the parking spaces are minimum... they can fit approximately 10 to 12 vehicles...

Interesting natural place. You can go walking to the top of volcano El Boqueron, and see the 1.5 km volcano crater. Pedestrian access roads to the top are being renovated. New viewpoints are being built. For SAFETY, in the so-called MIRADOR DE CRISTAL be attentive, for safety reasons there cannot be more than 15 people on the platform.

  • 4/5 Carlos M. 3 months ago on Google • 70 reviews New
The road is narrow. Not enough parking, but the park has been renovated and very nice and easy trails. When we arrived there was no water in the toilets or drinking water. I hope they fix this soon.

Disappointment 😞 Wouldn't recommend for any backpacker. This is not a hike by any meaning, unless you're a person with disabilities. Only 2%of trail around the crater is open for visitors, and I am talking about safe walk around the main crater. You have only 3 viewpoints with the distance between them like 30 meters 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ you see the same view all of you have already seen. You're done 20 minutes after you stepped into the "national park". Including the coffee break in a very overpriced caffe. In my opinion it's not worth the time and efforts you spend to get there. No doubt, Santa Ana volcano hike is much more interesting and satisfying, even considering all the downsides.

It's absolutely amazing. Wear comfortable shoes, bring water, and make sure your phone is charged to take pictures. There is construction going on in the park itself, so be prepared to navigate around what's being worked on. The street up has plenty of street vendors, but be kind and tip those who help you park ($5 goes a long way). The park has parking, but more than likely, you'll park on the outside on the side of the road. The new construction is enhancing lookouts, but be careful with small children and dogs. There are lots of stray dogs. If you have water, be sure to share. Enjoy the views 😎

Awesome views from a very short but step hike. Safe cheap paid parking at the visitor center. Expect to be hounded by every restaurant trying to get your business on the way in and out, but definitely stop for some tipico food to fuel your walk.

Beautiful park, well maintained, clean and secure by the police. The bad part is the parking situation. Vendors are almost taken the only street available to get into the park. So we were forced to pay for a private parking place. Entrance to the park is cheap only $1.00 per person a bargain if you consider the beauty of the place. Nice place to visit no doubt.

Beautiful place to visit. The drive up is very nice with many dining places to choose from. You get to the top and can hike to the top of the crater. Amazing views after a pretty hike. Nicely maintained and clean trails. A wonderful place to spend the day. Weather/temperatures up there is a nice break from the typical Salvadorean heat. Some may want to bring a light jacket.

This is one of the places you must visit when going to El Salvador 🇸🇻. It’s hike you won’t regret, the views are beautiful; if the day is not cloudy or foggy you get to see the volcano’s crater, everything is so green and clean. You have parking lot space and security guard. It’s not dangerous at all, during weekdays is less crowded. I’ll recommend 100% and its not far from San Salvador maybe 20 minutes driving. On your way down the volcano to your left is a great restaurant Las Brumas I’ll recommend. I’ll say if you go in the afternoon take a sweater because it gets chilly 👌🏻.

Hike was short and steep Parking in the official park was $1, the other parking spot, they try to hustle you to park there but it's a dollar more. Foreigners pay $2 entry fee. Drive up there was a little confusing

Boquerón Park basically has as main attraction the San Salvador volcano. The way to get there is using Uber or taxis. It's 20 minutes away from downtown. Pay strong attention if you're using Uber to check if you have phone signal up there before let your Uber leave, if not, try to agree right away a back trip with your Uber driver. If you drive in your own car there are parking lots inside the park. Nationals from El Salvador should pay 1 dollar entrance while alien visitors 2 dollars. The park is quite rustic, do not expect too much information or infrastructure inside. Also it is a quite tricky at the beginning to get the paths that will take you to the different volcano views. There are 4 views, the first one is the better one, though the other spots give you the opportunity of different and amazing views as well. The Boqueron is actually the hole where the volcano erupted, but the real volcano peak is 1 mile away. The hole is 1.5 hole diameter and 1 km depth. You can hire a guide to get down there where actually the hole is placed but it may take you about an hour and half, and the returning trip is not an easy task. Consider to spend about 1 hour to the entire tour, but it for sure may deserve to stay at the park about 2 hours, the views are so relaxing. If you prefer there are a lots of restaurant options right away outside if the park, options include Salvador native food. Take into account the weather is a kind of unstable during October an November and you can expect sudden showers.

Fairly easy hike. Beautiful natural floral wildlife throughout the hike and amazing view once you get to the top. There’s a little park at the top where you can sit and maybe have a little picnic on a bench. The trail was clean and felt safe because there were friendly police/guards throughout. $1 for locals and $2 for foreigners

Great views. Go on weekdays. Locals say weekends gets full and parking is limited. Next time I'll the the tour down to the bottom on the volcano, which is about 4 hrs down and 5 -6 up. Visibility is usually poor because it's almost always cloudy or foggy. Overall, awesome experience. Trails to the lookout places is not that bad. Just take your time and enjoy the views.
