The pension is beautifully decorated, it's elegant and unpretentious. Everything is clean and the kitchen is a very nice feature. Perfect for a romantic gateway. It's in a street across from great cafés and restaurants. It's far from the crowds of the old city, but the old city is only 10 to 15 minute walk from the pension. The owners are kind and thoughtful and eager to help. I can't wait to come back. THANK YOU.

Perfect location for a stay in San Sebastian. Very nice, friendly and helpful staff, clean and light rooms. Also very well located: you can walk within 2 minutes to the beach and in about 10-15 minutes to the old town

Amazing stay, staff were incredibly lovely and accommodating. Clean hotel room, conveniently located. Has small kitchenette for guests which is nice to have a cup of tea or heat up food - dining out all the time gets expensive. They held our luggage while we went to breakfast after check-out. Will stay again when we drive from UK to Portugal ❤️

Great location, most friendly welcoming people and clean sheets everyday! Nice atmosphere. Stayed here for three nights with my boyfriend and had the best time. There is even a kitchen where you can make coffee and grab something to eat in the morning. Absolutely loved it.

Paulo was a great host and gave lots of info in a friendly way. I actually got a nicer room than I had booked. The place was quiet and the shower had great pressure and heat. Would stay again. No complaints whatsoever.

Great hostel with the nicest staff! Big thank you to the owners, Paolo and his wife, who went above and beyond in hospitality. When we misplaced a nightshirt with great sentimentality (it must have gone out with the sheets), they searched everywhere and even offered to refund us for its value (which of course we said was too kind, and unnecessary). Before this all happened, Paolo also called a nearby Cider House for us from his own phone, repeatedly since they weren't answering, while we went out on the town to hike up Mount Urgull, to try and see if he could reserve us a spot on their Cider tour for the very next day. We figured it would be full, since it was Easter weekend, but when we returned from our hike, he had left us a note saying he had gotten us reserved, and even booked us a taxi to get us to and from there. SO NICE!!! The rooms were also fantastic, on par with hotels, and the bathroom attached to it (we booked a private room with its own bathroom since it was our honeymoon) was so nice and always spotless. This place is so clean and so nice!! Loved our stay in San Sebastian, and when we come back, we will absolutely book here again!!! Thank you so much to everyone at Pension Aia!!

This October, I spent 5 nights at Pensión Aia, and fell in love with the place. It’s been like a home to me thanks to the zen atmosphere created by Paolo and his wife. This place includes an attractive and functional communal kitchen, reading corners, 8 bedrooms of various sizes and several with a terrace or balcony. The rooms have their own showers and wash-basins, but the toilets are external - Have no fear: there are 4 to choose from. The location is perfect as the beach is a street away, and the old town heart is a 10-minute walk away. San Sebastián is notoriously expensive, but this place is quite affordable in this season.

Absolutely fantastic in every way. Location, cosy and comfortable rooms, modern kitchen and dining area, excellent showers... but more so, the professional and friendly service by the owners. Recommend 100% and will definitely return whenever I go back to Donostia 😊

We loved our stay at Paulo’s place! Our room was very comfortable, we had a shower in our room and we only shared the toilet which was no problem, because there are many and they are very clean. We also had a nice private terrace next to our room, that is just amazing for the price! Paulo was the nicest host, he welcomed us warmly and recommended a lot of restaurants and things to do. There is also a nice kitchenette with lot of groceries provided for free (oil, salt, spices, tea, coffee, even cereals, cookies, milk and butter), such a great hospitality! The location is the best in San Sebastian in our view: super-close to the beach Zurriola where you can surf or swim, in a district Gros where locals live and young tourists stay, so there is a cool atmosphere and lots of bars and cafés. The Gros district is very close to the center, but much better than the crowded touristy center in our view. All in all at Paulo’s place everything was amazing and the price/value ratio is the best! Don’t hesitate to book it.

Room was awesome here. Beds were comfy, we had plenty of space for all our stuff, and we even (unexpectedly) had a balcony. I suppose the only thing I didn't like much was the cramped shower and not having a toilet in the room, but those were easy enough to look past for our night here. Service was great. The host was very responsive and helped me with all my questions. We were there at the start of Semana Grande (didn't realize until we got there and saw all the festivities) and the host filled us in on all the events happening that night. Walk to Old Town isn't bad, probably 10m (maybe 15) max. Next time I'm in San Sebastián, I'll look this place up!

This one really stands out. Immaculate service & incredible location especially if you’re looking to access the beach 🏄. Great restaurants out front and of course only 10 minutes away in the old town. Basic but super clean rooms with everything you could wish for. Our room had a private shower and wash basin. Will def. come here again when in Donostia. :-)

The most friendly welcome and shared local knowledge. Superb location you can walk to many attractions including the Beach which is just a skip away, also cross the bridge to the old town. Clean and comfortable rooms. A home away from home. Highest recommendation for comfort and ease.

Highly recommend. Can’t say enough good things about the staff and stay. Nicest & most helpful staff ever. Rooms & beds were very clean and comfortable. ‘At home’ environment. 10/10

Very hospital and comfy. At the reception, the people are friendly and nice to chat with about the San Sebastian. Price is also nice and the location is amazing. But I need to be honest with my critics. For a couple of friends this is a place where to be, the shared kitchen is really nice and the shared toilets won't be a big deal. However, if you are a couple and you enjoy making noises, maybe the thin walls won't be the perfect advantage for keeping your privacy. This only based on one night stay, so if I would recommend it, it would be a 100% yes :) Enjoy your stay ...

One of the best value places I've ever stayed at! I would give it 6 stars if I could. Very tasteful modern and clean rooms, impeccably clean common areas and shared bathrooms and super nice host at the price of a hostel. I wish every city had a place like this.

This was an amazing stay. We were coming in a bit late, and Paulo was still around to give us an extremely helpful introduction to the city, map and all. (Please call beforehand if you are coming in late too -- it is a small operation but is exceptionally responsive.) You just literally cannot go wrong with this place. Great rooms, lovely kitchen, very helpful staff, everything. I wish we could stay longer!

We really enjoyed our stay at Pension Aia. It's situated in a lively area. Very close to the ocean / beach. Surrounded by bars and restaurants. The guest house was always clean (despite sharing a bathroom). It was silent during nights. Well working air conditioner. And most important to us: a super friendly owner. If we go back to San Sebastián we would definitely stay there again.

A lovely place to stay in the heart of San Sebastian with just walking distance to the beach. The owners are so friendly and tbh two of the nicest people I’ve met in my life.
