Amazing boutique hotel in Rioja. Visiting from NYC and meeting our family for a special family reunion. We were a group of 15 (2 grandparents, 8 adults and 7 teens/young adults) all traveling from different places and spent 3 nights. We have traveled to many small boutique hotels and can honestly say that Santa Maria Briones is a very special place. If you have the privilege of staying here don’t miss the opportunity. The service is impeccable and super friendly. The rooms are top notch with great attention detail. The common areas are best described as understated elegance, beautiful living room area and the outdoor patio with its exposed ancient wall takes you back in time. Two of the evenings we ended up just hanging out drinking wine, eating iberico ham, croquetas and pan con tomate in the patio area. If you are like me and like having coffee with a view the second floor terrace is a particularly serene place to do that. We had dinner in Allegar, their restaurant (separate review) and that is not to be missed. The restaurant is just 1 year old and if I had to guess will eventually get a Michelin star. Special thank you to the hotel team Laura, Maria, Olimpia, Cristian, Yolanda and Raquel for making the 15 of us feel at home and special thanks to Javier and Maria, the owners who were there when stayed, for making it a very special experience.

What a magnificent property! Superb base to explore la Rioja. Allegar restaurant was fantastic. The rooms full of all necessary amenities while still maintaining the historic charm of the property. I want to thank the whole staff for making our stay unforgettable. I wish you continued success.

Beautiful 16th century house converted into a hotel with comfortable, tastefully designed rooms. The beds are really comfortable and there is pillow menu to choose from if you want a different kind of pillow. Breakfast had some very good quality food choices. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The hotel restaurant offers some tasting menus at reasonable prices for the quality that is served. Outside the hotel, you can see fantastic views of the surrouding vineyards. There is also free parking behind the hotel (in front of the restaurant 4 arches). An overall excellent stay at this hotel.

My wife and I had the opportunity of staying at this magnificent boutique hotel a few days ago. What a wonderful place. The hotel's architecture is stunning blending modern elegance with the history of the building and the charm of the medieval town of Briones. The room size exceeded our expectations and was beautifully decorated. The staff is wonderful and they make you feel at home the minute you walk in. The hotel location is great, right in the middle of La Rioja, minutes away from many wineries and walking distance from the Vivanco Museum of Wine, a must if you are visiting La Rioja. The hotel's restaurant, Allegar, with its main dining room and the "calado" downstairs, is also outstanding as recognized by the Michelin Guide. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Beautiful boutique hotel! We went as part of our honeymoon and everything was absolute perfection from the rooms, the staff to the food. We will definitely return in the future and recommend to anyone visiting the Rioja.

Truly one of the most spectacular luxury hotels I've ever stayed at. The service was unparalleled. The hotel offers great views, gym, rooftop terrace where you can sip a glass of wine and enjoy the sunset, rooms were cozy and the restaurant offered an 8-course meal with the most tasteful bites and exquisite wine selection. The hotel staff was exceptional and attentive at all times. We greeted and escorted to our very own room and given a tour of the entire property upon arrival. Very central and located close to local bodegas and Capital of Rioja, Logrono. Overall, giving kudos of 5-star exclusive and intimate experience.

If I could give this hotel a 10/5 stars I would. Everyone from Maria, Olivia and the two wonderful staff at the Allegar Restaurant went WAAAY Above and Beyond. The level of service, the beautiful architecture, the elegance and charming town to walk around. I recommend this to anyone and can’t wait to come back.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at this charming hotel in Briones, and it exceeded all our expectations. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with the warmest hospitality that instantly made us feel at home. The staff here is incredibly attentive, always going above and beyond to ensure every guest's needs are met. Laura, Olimpia, Maria, Desiree, Astrid and Esti, made it unforgettable. Their Allegar Restaurant with its Michelin Star menu and wine pairing led by Chef Juan Cuesta was superbly delectable. What truly sets this place apart is the intimate ambiance - it's like a hidden gem tucked away in the heart of Briones and Rioja. If you're looking for a place that offers exceptional service, food and a cozy, intimate atmosphere, this hotel is the perfect choice. We can't wait to return!" 🏨❤️🌟 #BrionesHotel #WarmHospitality #Michelin #AttentiveStaff #IntimateAmbiance

This is a gorgeous hotel in a quaint and charming medieval village, convenient for visiting Rioja wineries. We were upgraded from a standard to a superior room, which was spacious and comfortable. We appreciated the complimentary bottle of rioja crianza wine by Santalba. Allegar, the hotel restaurant, serves up a delicious tasting menu. I especially liked the public sitting areas (inside and outside) that are inviting, large and well-appointed. Staff were super friendly and gracioius.

This is a small, family run hotel that prides itself on great service. The hotel is a bit out of the way--in the middle Rioja--so the recommendations from Olympia and Esty were very helpful. We received a tour of this historic hotel from Raquel--filled with family stories. The restaurant is excellent and the rooms comfortable.
