One of the best spot you should keep in your list to Yosemite visit. We visited during 2021 thanksgiving Below are highlights 1. You can park car near the spot as there is lot of parking lot 2. I think it’s max .5 miles of total round walk 4. You will see all major spots Yosemite falls (upper and lower) El Capitan Half dome Mirror Lake Nevada/Vernal falls 5. Take lot of pics

The best viewpoint in Yosemite National Park by a wild mile. The almost 360 degree views of the valley underneath is just a sight to behold. Great picture spot and place to eat a meal. Parking is a little tough when we went in mid-September but with enough patience there is usually a constant stream of people coming and leaving. Didn't see anyone spend more than 15-20 minutes for parking.

Moderate hike with about 3,000 feet ascent. No shuttle to the top currently so you have to hike to the top. You should be in decent shape and have plenty of water with you as there currently isn't any available at the top. Spectacular views from the top that are well worth the hike. We made it to the top in about 4 hours at 1.3 MPH with stops.

The stunning view of the half dome, clouds rest, Nevada falls, vernal falls and the never ending beautiful blue sky all at one place. You can either drive up to the point or hike here through the 4 mile trail( not exactly 4 miles 😂 but 4.6 miles, making it 9.2 miles round trip) there are other routes too but this is the shortest but steepest one.

Glacier Point is one of the highlights of a visit to Yosemite. Any time of day is good, but probably later in the day for better photo light would be optimal. A sign there says it's one of the best views in the world, and I wouldn't argue. We got there around 1pm and had a picnic at a viewpoint, which was so special. Takes a half hour from the main road to travel the slow, winding 17 mile road. On the way down, we stopped for the Sentinal Dome hike, a fairly easy 2 mile RT hike to a large, granite dome-shaped rock that gave another splendid view of the valley and Half Dome. Another highly recommended hike. Only the last part up the dome rock takes a bit of athletic ability, but most hikers would have no problem.

Absolutely stunning views here! There's plenty of space to walk around, with a small souvenir shop as well. The parking is okay at best; not a ton of spaces, but people are always coming and going. Non flushing bathrooms are located right in the parking area; there are no flushing ones at this location. The views are absolutely breathtaking here. Make sure to stop by the panels that explain what you're looking at; we almost missed the second tiny waterfall! Highly recommend coming here in the late afternoon/evening as it's a lot less crowded and significantly cooler in the summer.

Gorgeous. Make sure you enter the park with a full tank of gas. From the entrance ticketing booth, it is about 50 minutes to Glacier point. Views are great. Plenty of parking at the site. But Restrooms are gross and needed ventilation. Bring wet wipes.

If you have a limited amount of time or can only spend a few minutes glacier point is definitely the stop for you. Why go to the valley when you can see all of the valleys main attractions from one awesome location can't get any better pictures than this.

Fantastic and stunning views over the Yosemite Park Valley. Probably up there as one of the best backdrop of mountains in the world outside of Switzerland. Access by walking or car with some amenties at Glacier Point. We had the pleasure of interacting with one of the Rangers and found it very informative.

Glacier Point in Yosemite National Park is simply awe-inspiring. Perched high above the valley floor, the panoramic vistas of Half Dome, Yosemite Falls, and the surrounding wilderness are nothing short of breathtaking. Pros: 🏞️ Breathtaking Views: Glacier Point offers awe-inspiring views of Yosemite Valley, including iconic landmarks like Half Dome, Yosemite Falls, and the surrounding granite cliffs. The panoramic vistas provide an unparalleled opportunity to appreciate the beauty and grandeur of the park. 🚗 Accessibility: Unlike many other scenic viewpoints in Yosemite, Glacier Point is easily accessible by car. This means that visitors of various physical abilities can enjoy the stunning views without the need for extensive hiking or strenuous activities. 🥾 Hiking Opportunities: For those looking for an adventure, Glacier Point serves as a starting point for several incredible hiking trails. Whether you’re interested in a leisurely stroll or a challenging trek, there are options available to explore the park’s natural wonders, including the famous Four-Mile Trail and Panorama Trail. 🌲 Ranger Programs: Glacier Point often hosts ranger-led programs and presentations, providing educational and insightful experiences about the park’s geology, flora, fauna, and history. These programs offer visitors a chance to learn more about Yosemite’s unique features and deepen their appreciation for the natural environment. Cons: 🧍‍♂️ Crowds: Glacier Point is a popular destination in Yosemite National Park, which means it can get crowded, especially during peak tourist seasons. The limited parking availability and high visitor numbers may result in crowded viewpoints and difficulty finding a suitable spot to enjoy the scenery. 🛍️ Limited Services: While Glacier Point does have restroom facilities and a small gift shop, it lacks the amenities of larger visitor centers. 🌦️ Weather Variability: Due to its high elevation, Glacier Point is subject to unpredictable weather conditions. Visitors should be prepared for sudden changes in temperature, wind, and precipitation.

Out of places I’ve visited thus far, Glacier Point is definitely in my top 10. We hiked out of glacier point for a backpacking trip a few years back. Being here late at night is one of the more surreal things you’ll experience in the park. Depending on the time of year, you can see almost every waterfall in the park from this vantage point. Planning on coming back soon.

With glacier road closed this season our only option for this beauty was to hike four mile trail and it was absolutely worth it. Bring lots of water, a sandwich and some snacks! The squirrels are absolutely ruthless in trying to get their little hands on any food you have so be sure to keep it sealed! You can also see vernal and nevada falls which is another popular hike & pretty cool to see from way up high. Next time I come back to Yosemite I will probably take the shuttle up so I can hike sentinel dome which is supposed to have a 360 view of the park.

The line to get to the parking lot was incredibly long. Maybe you should get some staff members up there to coordinate the whole thing. The problem was that nobody wanted to risk driving too far and to have to get in line again. So in the back of the lot were many empty spots that nobody used because nobody knew about them. If someone would point the people to the free spots that would speed up things a lot. The view was breathtaking nonetheless.

Till now the best view of the Yosemite National Park in my opinion as I have not been at the top of the half dome. Must must visit place. The best spot to see the sunrise. You need to go very early for sunrise. They have plenty of parking spots. It is a very small walk to reach the point. You can spot Yosemite valley, mirror lake, half dome, cloud rest, Vernal fall, and Nevada fall.

Incredible view, we drove bike without traffic, Not a lot of turnouts (if you're driving slow and there are cars behind you, !), so be prepared for this taking longer than it should. There is nothing like this, it is definitely worth to see, plus we took a nap on the top. What a life. A friend visited us as we were taking a nap. LOL.

The views are stunning. I would recommend getting there early in the morning or late evening for the best views. Went on a public holiday and getting a parking spot was the most arduous task. Had to wait for at least an hour. I would suggest parking at the turnout just before the winding road to the parking lot. You get the best views there and you can walk down to the view point.

Stunning overlook giving you fantastic views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. We had a great time checking this place out as the sun was going down.

It If your looking for an amazing place with a spectacular view this is the place! It has many gorgeous views with multiple waterfalls with an amazing lush forest from every side. It also has mountains soaring across the valley with multiple cliff hundreds to thousands of feet off the ground. I definitely recommend this spectacular place!

Absolutely phenomenal spot to visit. The view of The Valley and where the glacier used to be is breathtaking. It was a snowy winter so the waterfalls were full and foamy. You can see half dome as well. Great for pictures at various spots so there’s many options and views. It’s very hot in July but still there was snow in the forest ground. The drive is beautiful and magical. You can see wild life as well. We saw a bear on a distant meadow and lots of deer.

Took the 4 mile trail up here during the 2022 season when the road was closed. About halfway up you wonder if it's really worth the brutal hike up. It is absolutely worth every painful step and every scratching breath. Incredible views all the way, at the top and all the way down. A must see if in the park.

Breathtaking views of Half dome and Yosemite valley, with Nevada and Vernal falls. I would recommend going for Sunset as the valley turns purple during this time with the half dome taking the glorious orange color from the setting sun!! If you’re lucky, you will get to see the moon rising up the valley too.

  • 5/5 Liz G. 10 months ago on Google
Wow! This place is amazing. The trails are awesome. They have a smaller trail for anyone that cannot walk very far. The views of nature are stunning and there was still snow on the ground in July.

Glacier Point and Vernal Falls were my two favorite places in Yosemite. The view here allows you to see the entire valley and offers a great view of Half Dome, like what you see in professional photos of the park. It does take about 30+ minutes to get up the mountain by car.

Incredible panorama of Yosemite and the High Country. Drive takes 20-30 minutes without traffic, roughly double that with traffic. Not a lot of turnouts (if you're driving slow and there are cars behind you, TURNOUT!), so be prepared for this taking longer than it should.

  • 5/5 Ramesh D. 2 years ago on Google
Beautiful place with stunning views. The drive takes you to a view with half dome right in front of you seconds before the parking lot, I'm sure everyone's heart stops for a second at that point. Don't miss this experience when you drive to this spot!!

We hiked up to the Glacier Point in July and it was incredible. We were lucky that the road was closed because the street was renewed. Therefore only people who took the strenuous route were on the top. Two advices: - start early, it’s getting hot during the day - bring enough water

Beautiful. I went in early December and had to take four mile trail due to road closures. It came out to be a little over 9 miles round trip, but was worth every mile. I would highly recommend it
