This place is incredible. I heard that it was worth checking out and oh, boy I was not disappointed. The service was excellent and attentive the food was sublime. Next time I am back in Birmingham, I am heading here. Its street food, but not. Its amazing portions with flavours that keep you coming back.

The best vegan food I have ever had! Wow. This place is incredible. The tofu pepper starter was so tasty and spicy. Everything is vegan unless it says it contains eggs so your safe. Please eat here! You won't regret it!

What a great place to visit for a vegetarian! They have so many options that do not contain meat and they're very delicious too! The prices are good and the place itself is cozy, but gets very busy and tables are quite close to each other so be aware of that. Nonetheless I would really recommend it!

Love this place so much. As a veggie I've been going here for years it's our place to eat in Birmingham. Here we have Tofu with red Thai curry amazing & the tofu is cooked to perfection not snotty at all. And then mock duck pancakes always good. Thank you Cafe Soya for being constantly good.

I ordered the (81) Mock Crispy Aromatic Duck and Pancakes, and I’m in love 😍 I hadn’t had this since before I became a vegetarian and I’m so excited to finally have the vegetarian version here and now. I’m taking a break from my meal to leave this 5 star review because this place just made me this happy ❤️ Vegans and vegetarians, I highly recommend you try this place out! Staff is also super friendly ☺️ Thank you!

I've been coming here for years and even though I no longer live in Birmingham I always make the effort to eat here when visiting as the food is so good. The service is always very welcoming and friendly and they have a good menu to choose from.

I really enjoyed the experience here. Food was delicious and everything I saw on the menu catered for veggies and vegans. Lots of mock or alternatives that all tasted great (the image is mock beef in black bean and garlic sauce). Oh and the fake prawn toast really scratched at that old itch since switching.

Good vegan options (there’s a separate veggie/vegan menu) you can grab… Simple, comfortable home style cuisine. Before eating here we wanted to make it our local, we’ll have to give it another try to see if this is the case.

A vegan haven, with quick service and a top tier reputation for underrated food in Birmingham. I always recommend it to my friends and I always leave full and satisfied. Tight seating area and remember to take cash but otherwise amazing place!

This is a great place for everyone one from meat eater to vegetarians to vegans. There are so many things to eat for everyone. We were so surprised by the taste of all dishes. I would love to see more vegan options and the soup dishes can be too bland but overall this is a really great place to eat. A little small so not much seating options in the cafe.

Great food. Good service. The quality of the food has not changed for the past 3 years. Though they don't join "Eat Out to Help Out" scheme, they have their own offer between Monday and Wednesday. Try their lunch deal between 12-3pm, it is worth money.

THE BEST EVER VEGETARIAN/VEGAN CHINESE. Since turning veggie 10 years ago I have always mourned the loss of that Chinese take away feast, but now I can just go to cafe soya and have the amazing sticky ribs, crispy duck, Kung pho chicken..... All vegetarian 😍

Great Vietnamese food. They make their own soya and have a wide vegetarian menu. All the food was excellent. The service is great. This is a very small cafe style casual dining place and you often have to wait for a table as it is very popular. Well worth the wait. Highly recommend.

Yum and big portion! The food was surprisingly healthy as well!! Normally Chinese dishes in restaurants are quite oily but this one was light and tasty. Went to try it because the noodle place next door was closed on Sunday. Glad that I did it. Will definitely go back again.

Amazing food at Café Soya, I’ve shared the receipt of what we got and the total price. I’d definitely go again. Really good range of vegan/vegetarian food! I’ll be trying more of their range soon! Downsides, you can’t book a table and it is cash only, because I find it a bit worrying to have £60 in cash on me walking around Birmingham at night, maybe it’s silly of me but oh well!

Stopped here for some dinner prior to going out for the evening. The service is quick and efficient and food was freshly cooked and tasty. It's a casual dining place so has more of a cafe feel to it. Just be aware that dishes come out at different times as soon as they are cooked, so you may not all start eating at the same time. It's also cash only but there is a cashpoint nearby (Natwest in centre of Arcadian).

We dined on a Saturday night at around 8pm. They were quite busy but we were still welcomed in and accommodated for. Menus were given promptly and our drinks orders were taken straight away. We ordered veg steam rolls, pan fried vegetable gyozas and tom yum soup for starters. They were really nice and flavourful, however the gyozas looked more deep fried than pan fried. For mains we got veggie chicken noodle soup, pineapple fried rice and and mild curry with rice. The pineapple fried rice was nice, however again it was quite oily and the oil lingered on your tongue which wasn’t too pleasant. The curry was good, quite average however we had to order rice separately.. we were under the assumption it came with rice. The noodle soup was really nice, paid £1 extra for tom yum flavour.. it was a massive bowl filled with tons of veggies and noodles.. enough to feed 2/3 people. Overall, was a nice restaurant. Staff were friendly and attentive. Plenty of vegan and vegetarian options, something for everyone. Portions are huge, you get what you pay for. Just the minus 1 star as I think the overall taste was just okay, nothing special. I would return again.

Amazing place. Cafe vibe with restaurant style food. Absolutely huge portions and reasonably priced. The vegan / vegetarian menu is huge and varied and we were quite overwhelmed with the amount of choice. Food chosen; dumplings, soya duck pancakes (both starters), salt and pepper chips, and ginger broccoli. The food was all really fresh and tasty although as a vegan who doesn't have to do too much chewing of though things, I did find the soy crispy duck very chewy and quite hard work. I think I'll stick to the mushroom duck pancakes options in future but that is personal preference. All of the food was very tasty and the staff were lovely and the dumplings were the best I've had in ages, much better than Waggamama's. Total cost £33.

I didn't exactly go for an exotic option, I had the spicy chips and a vanilla milkshake, but I will bring my kids back and we can share some proper items off the menu next time!

Cafe Soya serve tasty authentic reasonably priced Asian dishes. Their menu is well established and service is swift. Centrally located with an everyday cafe vibe, Cafe Soya is ideal for an after work catch-up in the city centre over tasty food.

Amazing food, good service, vast menu with something for everyone, my only problem is that I wish this place was bigger, there's always a queue to get in.

  • 3/5 Aamna 7 months ago on Google
The veg starter was nice and not too greasy. The vegan chicken noodle I got, the portion was a bit small but it was tasty. It was only when I finished I realised they forgot to put the soya strips in! But was really tasty

Came here for the first time ever yesterday and will definitely be back. I had the udon noodles with beef in black pepper sauce and it was absolutely delectable, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. The best thing is that the food is such a good deal for the price as the portions are huge! We took home leftovers and we basically have 3 meals in one! Other restaurants have been more expensive with smaller portions so this is definitely a steal. My brother had an iced fruit tea and said it was the best, so definitely try that! He also had Singapore vermicelli noodles which he loved and my mum had steamed rice and chicken which she said had so much flavour! Overall we enjoyed our dining experience and will definitely be back again. My only negatives is that there fresh fruit smoothie wasn't sweet enough for me and had a weird aftertaste and unfortunately they bought my mum the wrong drink and then refused to change it. Also the woman serving us was friendly with my family but kept glaring at me for no reason and didn't smile at me on the way out like she did to my family so I did feel quite offended. However I still recommend you visit the soya cafe for good food and a cosy dining experience in their little restaurant.

I saw the window and they said homemade ho fan (rice noodle) and went in & ordered seafood ho fan in soup. The broth was tasteless, ho fan was from a dried packet. They just stir-fry some seafood to put on top to make it look fancy. Very disappointed. Don't recommend this place at all.

Went here on Sunday and cannot recommend this place enough. I’ve been to quite a few fully vegan/vegetarian Chineses and this one was by far the best, great service and amazing options. It is slightly more expensive than others but it’s so worth it. My non-vegan partners favourite part of the meal with something that was vegan, so it shows how good the food is. They provided quick service and very friendly staff

It's wonderful to so much Chinese vegan choices here. A basic but delightful place. Meat substitutes have been done realistic and well by Asians for such a long time and they are just going to get more popular again.

Huge menu with lots of variety. Love the vegetarian options here, there is so much choice and lots of interesting, creative dishes. The veggie sharing platter is particularly good, the steam rolls are delicious! There are also lots of meat options available too. The staff are friendly and the prices are good, with generous portions.

Just been to Cafe Soya for our second meal out since the lockdown restrictions were lifted. Booking service is great, cleanliness is perfect and the staff are taking all necessary precautions - just need a card machine for payments!! Had a great "mock meal" that is better than any Chinese restaurant or takeaway. Great experience as always.

loveeeeee this place so much. such a gem and really caters for EVERYONE. halal, vegetarian, vegan. i used to come here all the time for the lunch time meal deals during the week. only small complaint is they used to let me swap the fake prawns for real ones for free (along with other stuff taken out like the fake fish) but now they want to charge even though i want other stuff taken out. albeit its still an amazing food place and soooo worth it.
