Etna is a fantastic experience you should never miss while you’re in Catania - Sicilia! I recommend you do the visit early morning before 10:00, otherwise it gets crowded like hell. Be prepared with corresponding footwear as it is likely to have snow also late spring. The view of the City of Catania is stunning! Check the photos I have attached.

The sight is undiscribeable, the view is truly magnificent. No picture is able to give it back. When we were up there the wind was extremely strong, it almost blew us off, so you have to be careful not to lose your hats or glasses.

Extraordinary experience from the untouched Nature. You can see lava stone everywhere. There is 7 crater there can see all of them and If you can go there exactly after eruption I could be very nice. Some of the lava are new from the 2021 but some of them very old. You can see how they look different based on the plant the growth over them. From this point you can take the cable care and reach to the 3000 meter.

The closest crater to the Sapienza refuge and the base of the cable cars. I'm always surprised at the relatively good value of the bars, restaurants and shops , especially for warm clothes which I have bought here and that lasted for years. A good start for those wanting to reach closer to the summit or a good final stop for those wanting to see full volcano but not quite as adventurous. A must visit for those on a trip to Sicily. Worth a sunrise visit.

It is worth to go up to this middle station at of Mt. Ätna. Small walks or hiking are beautiful. Take care of your shoes!

So good to realize we made it to this crater from the cruise ship in one day. My daughter was in delight it was her first volcano experience. There is black sand and amazing views everywhere. By the way we went after for lunch in Monte Gebel cafe and it was fantastic.

Easy walk from the parking lot, it takes 10 to 15 minutes to go around the crater. Everyone can go there no need for special equipment. The view here is amazing. If you don't have too much time to spend at the Etna I recommend going there.

Great view and when we were there in 1st Jan 2023, parking was free. Very big parking lots. Close to the 2 craters. The Upper Silvestri was tough to get up to but once you are there, the view is spectacular. The walk up the slope is challenging because of loose gravel and every step forward, you probably would slipped back a little which make walk a lot more difficult. Highly recommended.

Easy to reach from the parking, giving you an aerial view of the sorounging area. Around 100m ascent. The descent is more trickier as the slope is high and the vulcanic rock and sand is quite slippery.

Any photos could express the unbelievable view of Etna, its beauty, its power, its greatness. The day we have visited it, it was very, incredibly, strongly windy. It was enough cold. But even our 5 years daughter was amazed of this place. Must see.

Tip: visit the small crater first and then walk up to the larger one, so you can look down on the smaller one. Incredible view, just walk around as you like, take a steep path or more relaxt and let the volcano impress you. We parked a bit down the road before the touristy area and walked down the road a bit.

Very good possibility for short visiting of old vulcano crater in the Etna region close to the parking space. Best view to the Etna and to the sea. Note: Very strong storm is possible with dangerous situations for visitors

Go for the bus/cable car option. Takes you as far up as possible. 78 euros per person. Small walk with an informative guide at the top where you get a great view of the active part of the volcano. Can be very windy/cold so dress appropriately. Avoid the other guides around the parking spot. Their deals are not so great!

Walking around the craters was amazing. Parking costs 1,2€/h 3,5€ half day or 6€ whole day. In good weather conditions it's magical

This crater is one of a few on the mountain of Etna and is relatively easy to reach. It's basically part of the small village where most touristic busses and cars first go to. You can make really nice pictures here and decide on the next steps - get on the cable cars for 50 euro and go to 2.500 meters height, or get on a bus and have a one and half hour ride. The first option allows you to go to the main crater then, however it must be a guided tour.

An amazing view (but crowded). The drive up is amazing and take time for pictures. Unfortunately level 1 on a scale of 1-10. This Crater is easy with children and free. Dont go with younger children when the wind is blowing to hard or when its bad weather, its scary and they get sandblasted.

We drove from Palermo, maps went a bit off the beaten track, but this way we got to see so much more and it took about 4 & half hours to get to Mt Etna. What a magnificent mountain, and to think we came about 5 days after it just erupted. The amount of fine ash everywhere and the molten rock that flows down thru the valley is pretty impressive. There are three mountains to climb up to, the first Etna u can either walk it, cable car it, or quad bike it. The second and third u can walk them, they're just as impressive and the views are amazing. At the base u have accommodation, restaurants, cafes, souvenir shops and people selling all types of honey from the bees that visit Etna and surrounds. We probably spent around 3 hours there, having something to eat and drink, climb the third mountain, take photos, taste the many different types of honey, and look at the shops.

There was a rain storm on our way up the mountain, but the shops were above the rain. It was a bit cool and windy. We had to wear jackets. The lava fields are spectacular, but there is a lot of garbage. We hiked to a couple of the lower craters.

Excellent place to visit, but, as they will inform you, the weather changes in it instant. It started slightly cloudy, and within me moments started getting extremely windy and then we were being pelted by sleet and hail. But what a sight😎🤯

Somewhat strenuous walk up these side craters. Great views and interesting geology. You cannot see the main crater from here, but you get views of it in the winding drive up the mountain. There is a good restaurant nearby.

Beautiful windy dangerous uneven earth. Easy to fall. Not good for handicapped or balance problems. Sane with breathing problems. Beautiful panoramic views. Not enough bathrooms for all the visitors. Pay for restrooms. Food and souvenirs area.

Visited on 7th March. Weather looked bad but it changed in an instant to beautiful sunshine. Great weather, great experience and walk up to Rifugio Sapienza.

Pretty cool to see the volcanic craters up close!

Magical place you can really walk around, the crater, the views, the stones piled in the crater as markers and honouring. Smashing, don't miss it if you do Etna!

  • 5/5 Michał C. 4 years ago on Google
Easily accessible thanks to perfect location near Refugio Sapienza parking lot. Almost anyone can reach its peak and it's worth visiting especially around sunset time when the landscape from moon-like turns into mars-like which is even more appealing.

visiting Crateri Silvestri was a thrilling and unforgettable experience, is truly a sight to behold. No amount of photos can do justice to the sheer beauty and untamed nature of this place. The moment I set foot on the volcanic terrain, I was captivated by the raw power and beauty of Mount Etna. The sight of the two majestic craters left me in awe, and the panoramic views from the top were absolutely breathtaking. It felt like being in another world, surrounded by the vastness of nature.

Fantastic place for a trek. Or to start a trek for Mount Etna. Short walk from the car park. Highly recommended!

It was a fantastic experience! Unfortunately Etna has erupted when we arrived so couldn’t go closer. But the craters were amazing!

Place with interesting and spellbound history. A must visit if you are in the east part of Sicily.

Planning online to visit Etna without a car was not straightforward. The preferred choice was to take the cable car and then a 4 wheel drive further up the mountain. However there was no availability with the official park operator and other tours were expensive. In the end I booked an EtnaEst tour with hotel pick-up to the cratères Silvestri. This worked well. The cratères Silvestri were well worth visiting with many easy paths to choose from. The downside of a tour is the time limit. It would have been nice to wander to some of the more distant, but easily accessible, cones than just the main two.

Wow. No photos could ever capture the beauty and rawness of this place. Absolutely breathtaking. Highly recommend visiting. About 10 degrees in early October but can be less than that, recommend packing warm clothes just in case it is a windy and overcast.

Fantastic hike up the volcano. Only for the fit and healthy if you take the right path. Left path should be accessible for most able individuals. Worth the hike....views and photos are spectacular

It is a sin to be in Sicily and not face the Queen of Etna! I would recommend! Amazing landscape!

  • 5/5 Bob M. 4 years ago on Google
A five minutes walk from the parking brings you at the top rim of this nice, 2002, crater. Beautiful surroudings.

  • 4/5 Jurijs A. J. 4 years ago on Google
It was fun for a short trip, though climbing up the hill for the view was exhausting. Next time better take long tour full day and make it all the way to the top! But we have seen a mini eruption which was a scary and exciting at the same time
