I am a photographer who has shot weddings, events, family shoots and portraits at this venue and the architecture, space, backdrops and lighting is just beautiful at any time of day.

The plaza is named for the University of Barcelona, whose neo-Gothic main campus lies on its northwest side. The main University building was built between 1863–1889 by the architect Elies Rogent, who also devised the square in 1874,[1][2] at the time when the Eixample was being built after the complete demolition of the city walls. Along with Plaça d'Urquinaona, it is arguably one of the most common gathering-places for demonstrations in the city, as well as offering a pedestrianised area popular with skaters. There square is also surrounded by a number of shops and restaurants, and a primary school.

Administration of this university is a disgrace. University and classes have been going on for 3 weeks and they still haven’t registered me despite going in everyday to try sort the problem. Can’t access anything online and they said there is ‘internal problems in the system’ that is preventing me from being registered. They said they don’t know how long it’ll take and I have assignments to submit. I feel I maybe have wasted a full year of my life and a lot of money taking this masters degree in this university. I recommend anyone who is an international student that plans on coming here to not, they’re horrible to deal with and rarely reply to emails in all areas.

(Translated by Google) Gardens that have more than one phytolacca dioica earn five stars very easy, but if we can also see a ginkgo biloba .... and above, free entry. The gardens are divided into several areas, as soon as you enter, we access a very green courtyard where the brown of the roots of several ficus stands out. Then we can stay in the main part, the one that is oriented towards Gran Via, much sunnier and where we find jewels like the ombú, with its exposed roots and its characteristic trunks full of beings, called “students”, who practice a strange defoliation based on sitting on top. Beautiful yucas, with very careful trunks, yew, palm trees and some prunus, accompanied by a multitude of shrubs and native ornamental plant make up this garden area. The gardens of the University have more than two hundred and fifty different species! The rear is much more gloomy, fresh and much greener, the result is a very quiet and pleasant area. The first show is a Japanese sophora no more than 2 meters high, a twisted and cracked trunk with a beautiful color. While you surround the sofa, you are looking sideways at other interesting trees. Like an ulmus minor, a great, robust tree. The beautiful ginkgo biloba that a few neighbors have the luxury of being able to see every day from their backyards or from the balconies. I expected a more privileged place for a ginkgo, although it is only my opinion. With some pine, a tipuana and I remember a carob tree, we pass to another area where a pinus pinea presides, inclined and with roots that almost form the path you walk. Two phytolacca, where cats sunbathe (there are many in this garden), very low and with a trunk that takes us away from what we are used to seeing. An artificial pond that flows through two small channels to a small fountain attracts our attention. Several yews stand out, but the two located at the ends of the square are brutal, a sad cypress, an Australian casuarina, a podocarp and a cherry tree stand out among some jacaranda, palm trees and a multitude of hedges. At the bottom of the park there is a very pretty cypress, next to it there are some cacti, the humble greenhouse of the gardening service and the city of cats. Another fact is that in one of the entrances there is a stump of an eastern cedar that had been planted for many years and in 2009 it fell because of the strong wind, curious and thankful that they have preserved it. At the exit of the parking there is one more phytolacca to see, to see how it absorbs the wall that previously contained it.

It is a unique space in practically the entire Eixample, in the shape of a spectacular green area that completely breaks with the gray surroundings of a large city like Barcelona. The gardens of the UB have a botanical richness that leaves no one indifferent: with almost 250 species distributed over a surface of just over 10,000 square meters. Did an exchange semester here and had a terrible experience. Went to the faculty of philology and communication, so I don’t know whether it’s only this faculty or the whole university but the organisation was very bad up until non existent. There was hardly any communication from the university and the enrolment to courses was complicated. Even worse they won’t tell you whether you’re actually admitted to chosen courses, but they only tell you after attending that you can’t be enrolled in a certain course. Moreover, none of the exchange students of my year were given access to the wifi. It took me 5 weeks to finally have access to wifi on campus and access the online campus. As you can imagine that was a huge obstacle - basically one semester of wasted time. The only positive aspect was the beautiful building, apart from that the treatment was just disrespectful. As an international student save yourself the hassle.

(Translated by Google) Reviews already say: hidden garden, quiet, well-kept, elegant ... although it has been occupied by the Library of Romanesque, the Philology classroom, and several other buildings ... There are fountains, waterfalls, ponds ... tall trees, bronze sculptures, stone ... a greenhouse (abandoned), tall columnar cacti (id.) ... in the gardens the two interior ponds of the Cloister of Letters and the one of Mathematics should be included. Another, for cat lovers: they do not run away, they stare and even allow themselves to be brushed.
