What a great way to reach Montserrat! It's quite a spectacular journey on the steep slopes of the Montserrat hill - takes 15 minutes and vanquishes over 400 vertical meters from Monistrol-Vila to the Abbey. The views from the mountain railway are great, especially during favorable weather conditions. Cars are clean, comfortable and warm (during our visit the outside temperature was around 10 degree Celsius). At the base station there is plenty of parking available, some shops, vending machines and toilets. The top station is located meters away from the Abbey, making this railway super convenient mode of transport to Montserrat. Visited in December 2022.

Definitely recommended this way to get to the top. There is free under cover parking at the station , carriages are clean and regular, and you have some awesome views going up the mountan

Comfortable and only 15 min ride to the monastery. Around 13€ for a round trip at the point of writing. But u can always get a single trip and come back down by the yellow cable car.

Great transport up to Montserrat. Plenty of parking at the base station and frequent journeys. We travelled at the end of July and the route was quiet. We found the ticket option that also included the funiculars the most economical.

Nice, relaxing and very short railroad car ride up to Montserrat. A lot of the way it was through very narrow rock alleys, and when you came out of those alleys, you had beautiful views.
