Great pastries and food with lots of space to eat. It has gorgeous outdoor seating areas and there’s always space to sit, even if it's crowded. The staff is friendly and it’s a really nice place.

My new Coffee stop when I pass through Santa Barbara less than a mile off the 101. We had a long drive back to LA and this was just what we needed, great roasted coffee, the friendliest service in a historic building with a cool and open atmosphere. I couldn’t decide what to get, and the barista made the best recommendations. This business is locally owned and operated, you can see the pride they take and care about their community. I told them we like to see our friends who operate a restaurant near by, and they wanted to know where it was. What great people, you have to stop by and try this place!

Roastery kind of off the beaten path. Cute shop. I almost bought a T Shirt; it was so soft. I had an affogato that was great. My only complaint was that there wasn't enough ice cream! (Especially to justify a $5 price tag)

What a fun happening coffee place. It was fun to people watch. People working, dating and on conference calls. The heart they put in my coffee was adorable.

Handlebar is known as THE coffee roaster and coffee shop of Santa Barbara. Their coffee and espresso are extremely smooth and enjoyable for any prepared drink. The baristas truly focus on one cup being made at a time and doing it right. While having an iced beverage in a paper cup is a bit icky since it gets soft and soggy, I imagine they do this to reduce the use of plastic. I'm all about reducing waste and helping the planet so I'll deal with it. I love this original location's newly enlarged space that is hip and welcoming. Staff is very attentive to keep the almost expected line moving to lessen the wait. Best part is it's location in the heart of Santa Barbara's Presidio with endless places to enjoy your drink and/or pastry outside.

Really good coffee, second to Dune in my opinion. Nice location. Lots of outdoor seating. decent amount of parking. Friendly staff. Very nice, involved and friendly owner. They couldn't make hot coffee if they tried, their lines are ridiculously long. They have a second register for drip coffee only. I mean 15 minutes in line for a latter is a bit much. Is the line intentional? the cashier staff doesn't hustle either. They are just on a very slow pace here. the music and vibe matches. If you have no where to be, its a great place. if you don't mind waiting a long time its a great place.

6:30am, windows and doors were open, nice breeze. A few customers, reading newspaper, working on the computer, some walked in with their kids and dogs, nice neighborhood vibe. I had vanilla latte and a scone, both are delicious! Highly recommend it!

Espresso drinks are wonderful. I love that they roast their own beans right in the shop. Here is a picture of their roasting machine. The 2 owners are former professional bike racers. Fabulous place. I've been to both locations and they are both great & have great ambiance.

The place is lovely and so is the staff. Had such a pleasure chatting with the owner, he is passionate about what he does which you can tell by the quality of their products. Will definitely recommend 🤍

Super friendly, fantastic sandwich and latte at prices that weren’t necessarily cheap, but definitely reasonable considering how crazy some cafes are.

Another rare SB gem. Their coffee is really just...so nice. I can't speak to their other offerings (since I've only had their coffee) but I wish I had discovered this place sooner before leaving town.

Hipster coffee at its finest! Great coffee at a fair price in an um…interesting environment. It’s basically a warehouse with a coffee shop that’s filled with hipsters. If you come here in the morning, you can watch them roast the beans, which is pretty fun. The food was mediocre, but the coffee was great.

Line is out the north door onto the patio. People walk in from the east door right up to the second register and order skipping the entire line and making everyone's wait even longer. Not a single brain dead cashier ever says or does anything about it. This happens every day. Saves me a lot of tip money in the long run.

The ambiance is very chill and there's a good selection of curated locally made products from body soap, wines, pancake mix, honey, and coffee. An Americano and the Cold Brewed Coffee were both great picks. Avoid trying to park here if you can. It is tight and sparse.

Best roasted coffee in California.Their espresso is the best reason for visiting Santa Barbara but you can have their coffee beans shipped directly to your home. The ambiance is warm and inviting at this location and there is plenty of room to enjoy a meal and coffee with their delicious bakery selections (croissants were amazing). The roasting is done at this location so it is really special seeing the interior and smelling the aroma. All the staff here are extremely professional, warm and friendly. Two people are dedicated to making drinks at the espresso bar which is really rare. Visiting here is always memorable. If you are traveling along the coast it’s well worth a stop over for breakfast here. You won’t ever be able to feel satisfied with anything less than the superior quality of their special selection of roasted coffee beans once you’ve been here.

Had a bagel and a latte I judge a café firstly by the size of their cappuccino. There is only one size for a cappuccino. Handlebar gets it. The latte and bagel were excellent. The employees were nice and conversational, although that’s absolutely not required for a great café. I love that toasting your bagel is DIY—get it exactly the way you want it, and minimal inconvenience. Actually, it’s a pleasure. And the space: windows, brick, wood beams, nice seating. Couldn’t ask for more!

We have been subscribers to Handlebar Coffee for years -- for good reason. Their coffee first-rate, without the bitterness or acidity you get from other beans, and without the oiliness that can mess up machines. Their customer service team literally responds within minutes and takes care of issues before I can email back. If you can't visit the cafe, get it delivered to your home !!!

Of all the coffee shops around the world I have visited, Handlebar on De La Vina is my very favorite. The ambiance, the coffee, the people - all top tier. You will always be remembered by the employees and regulars, you will always feel welcome.

Great coffee. This place has unusually long wait times in line for a coffee shop. There is some street parking and parking in the lot. Very friendly staff. Good vibe. Sometimes it’s hard to find a place to sit. Overall, this is a great spot. My favorite location in town.

I loved trying their mocha decaf coffee! It was delicious and definitely worth trying it again or something new. I loved the service and the excellent decor. They even make the coffee in the back area like an open kitchen design. It’s quite nice to see and reminds me of Four Barrel coffee in the San Francisco bay area.

I love this place because of it's open floorplan. You can see the coffee roasters and it has the feel of a Warehouse. The staff is always really friendly, efficient and take a lot of pride in the quality and appearance of what they serve. The outdoor seating is great although hard to find a place to sit. It's best to come a little earlier, particularly if you want to sit outside under an umbrella. My dog is welcome there, they even have a water bowl for him and small treats. Great place if a bit expensive.

This is a great coffee shop. I enjoy stopping here when I’m in Santa Barbara. I usually bring my journal. The coffee is good. I love the cookies!!!

Busy but worth the wait (long line moves fast). Cappuccino had strong coffee flavor and ham and cheese croissant sandwich was super flaky and crunchy.
