Splendid classic place with walls adorned with keepsake photos of celebrities, many from the past. Solid menu of comfort food. Generous bar for mixed drinks!

My husband and I love Harry's. It is a historic staple of SB. Both my husband and I grew up coming to Harry's with our respective families for years and years! We came here yesterday for our anniversary and once again, Mike, the best weekday bartender in Santa Barbara County took care of us. We travel all the way from Santa Ynez Valley to go to Harry's and try to at least 2-3 times per month. Food is always on point and all staff are always friendly and welcoming! If your visiting SB and looking for a unique dining experience but with some old-fashioned style, try Harry's!

Good food with large portions. Vibrant and welcoming. I liked the cajun chicken pasta and the meatloaf. Would like to visit again for a drink.

My family has enjoyed Harry's for many, MANY years! My grandmother had a regular booth by the bar every Tuesday night. Rene was an absolute gem, and treated my grandma with such respect and kindness. We miss her dearly... The last few months have not served Harry's well... the managers are absolutely horrible, and the restaurant is suffering under their supervision. Not only do they appear dirty and unkempt, but they are unable to effectively hire, train, and manage their staff. Tonight, our experience was awful, and in reflecting back over the past few months, we haven't had one pleasant visit. Our visit began with the hosts unable to identify whether they had tables available or how long the wait would be. They took our name & number down and let us know they would call when a table was available. Our family decided to browse Chaucer's while we waited, but my son had to use the restroom, so we headed back. When we arrived, my husband took my son inside while the hosts laughed to each other and said that our table had been ready, but yet they had neglected to call? I was confused... I then stood at the door while two hosts argued over who would take us to our table, both refusing. The manager just stood there watching them and didn't give either of them direction or feedback. The other two hosts were dressed in dirty clothing, not the typical uniforms, rather baggy band sweatshirts and distressed jeans -- not that I'm judging, I just didn't know they actually worked there by their appearance. On our way to our table, there was a very nicely dressed host who excused himself as we passed, and I appreciated his kindness. When we sat at our table -- the closest to the back kitchen entrance, our waiter arrived and while he was efficient, he was very rude and off-putting. He rarely checked on us, rushed our orders to clear the table for the next customers, and just was generally unpleasant. Looking around the restaurant, I saw a few waitresses that were kind to their tables and wished that they could have been helping us instead. I also observed the managers standing around again, not helping their staff bus tables, serve food, or check in with customers -- this is VERY typical of our experience at Harry's. The managers typically stand around gossiping with other waiters or regular customers, rarely actually working or supporting their staff. There were a few busers that worked hard, and a few who looked rather filthy, sneezing into their hands as they washed tables, only adding to the rather dirty environment that has been festering for the past decade. Which if you like cleanliness, don't EVER use the bathrooms at Harry's; they are always DISGUSTINGLY filthy, smelly, and often broken. Harry's is a staple in Santa Barbara, and I want to see local restaurants succeed... BUT, unfortunately, the service here is just awful, and the food is just regular bar food. They make a good stiff drink, and it's always nice to run into familiar faces, but it's just not worth it anymore. My family will not be returning after years of disappointment. Sadly, I still left a 20%+ tip this evening as I know restaurant workers are grossly underpaid and need their tip money to survive in Santa Barbara, and I didn't feel like taking out my frustration on our rude waiter. My hope is that the management will see this review and begin to change their practices and attitudes. Good luck in the future, Harry's! P.S. As we were waiting in line at the entrance, a 75 year-old gentleman who was GROSSLY over-served at the bar, struck up a rather disturbing conversation with our 7 year-old son. My husband and I were surprised that the bar staff would serve someone until they were obviously inebriated, and we were shocked to see him stumble out to his vehicle without the manager, who was standing close by over-hearing our conversation, offering him a cab ride home. We know Harry's serves stiff-drinks, but enabling a clearly drunk person to be in the position to harm others is simply irresponsible.

I’m traveling across the country and trying food at many different restaurants, and I have to say this was probably the worst experience. The wings I ordered were flavored nicely, although the chicken Parmesan I received for my entree did not contain an ounce of seasoning. Bland to a degree that is difficult to express in words. I thought it was incredibly strange/unhygienic that just about every male server had a ponytail going down to their lower back or even knees. About an hour and a half prior to closing, the staff started cleaning up by stacking chairs next to tables that were occupied with people eating. As someone who has worked in a restaurant for a very long time, I can honestly say this was one of the most unprofessional dining experiences I’ve had the displeasure of having.

We visited for the burnt ends sandwich that we had years ago. It had been one of the best sandwiches we had ever eaten. This visit the bread was dry, the meat was small and cubed with little sauce and little flavor. The drinks were so strong, that we asked for simple syrup or something to make it tolerable. We were very disappointed. The atmosphere is old school and fun.

My sister and I went after our father's memorial service. It was Daddy's favorite place to take us whenever we would visit him in Santa Barbara. The place hasn't changed since we were children and it was comforting to be in a place that reminded us of things with him. The patty melts are still the best I've ever had.

As someone who grew up in SB, Harry's is known for the strong drinks. The food is okay. I feel like tou have to eat there because if you don't, the drinks will get you. You need food in your stomach. My wife and I always get chicken wings and steal bites. Those are the two best items on the appetizer menu. We hardly ever do dinner. Enjoy the drinks and atmosphere.

A local favorite. Always smells like mildew and sewage. Salad is usually a little wilty. The food is great, love the ice cream sunday, and the service is usually very casual and fast.

This place has gone WAY downhill as far as their food is concerned. Ordered a corned beef dip sandwich which was horrible!! Corned beef was probably left over from last week…. Dry as the Sahara Desert!!! Smaller than previous days….. NEVER AGAIN.. cocktails are still good…. Food is dreadful

Best meal I’ve had out here in a while. The food was cooked perfectly. I had fried chicken and it was not overly greasy and very crispy. The cheesecake was also homemade which was a plus. Not overly sweet, smooth all the way around. You can tell they take pride in their food here.

Amazing atmosphere of a specific type. NYC style bar restaurant. Famous for their stiff drinks and the photos on the wall. Always dark with that rich feeling. Burnt ends excellent with PLENTY of delicious meat, don't eat the whole roll though and ask fir extra BBQ sauce. I've heard the fish &chips are good, I need to find out.

A little disappointing. I probably ordered the wrong thing. It was fried chicken very dry and my wife didn't enjoy her enchilada. It was during the holiday and they were busy. I would try again but not during holidays.

Great service, great atmosphere, bad food. I really, really want to like Harry’s. They have a great Santa Barbara tradition dating back over 50 years. The place changed ownership in the early 2000s and I wonder how much the quality has changed. The blackberry pie was microwaved, bread was bland, salmon undercooked, and some of the worst ribs around with an odd Coca-Cola bbq sauce. The nostalgia they sell is not worth the food

THE WORST SERVICE! The young skinny waitress paid us NO attention. I asked for my burgers medium rare and they were not. Finally after our meals it took forever to get our bills and the plates were never removed from our table. The worst part was we had to ask for our change from $60. Then she brings us a $20 bill and two $1's back??? It was obvious she was expecting to keep it all for herself. Not the kind of place I can trust.

What a classic Santa Barbara restaurant / bar. This has been a locals hangout for since I can remember, (and that's a lot of years) The proportions are large and the food is classically delicious and the drinks are nice and strong. It's not in the touristy part of town so it's normally filled with Santa Barbarians and their guests.

We love Harry's. It's a fun place to eat in. But we have not done so since COVID. We do takeout. The service for take out is always helpful. The food comes up quick. The food is generally solid. The wedge is a winner. As is the spaghetti. The to-go drinks are always stiff and worth the money. All in, we love Harry's and recommend it without qualification. It's old-School SB.

Harry's has been one of my favorite spots since the late 1960's. I guess I am stuck on them. I even had my husband's memorial there because he was also a fan. You know the saying"where everybody knows your name"? Yes, it is a place like that. Strong drinks so watch your tolerance levels. The food is more than adequate, but don't expect gourmet fare. The service is beyond compare 99.9 percent of the time. I don't think you can go wrong.

Great place to share drinks with friends. The food is not outstanding but the cocktails make up for it. The staff is very attentive and very friendly.

Let me start off by saying "I'll be back." This place has been a staple in my wife's family over the years. Our last experience was ok tho. I got the surf and turf pasta. I'll pass next time. $30ish for 2 pieces of 🦐 and one piece of 🍞 I thought was light but the pasta noodles were great.y wife got what she always does and got the opened faced 🦃 🥪. Hard to mess that up so she liked it. Best part was when being served the waiter said "What the heck is this? Oh it's 🦃." Our waitress was nice and attentive. Thought the 🐔 fried steak bites were good.

Our first and it's not going to be our last. Talk about a blast from the past and classiness added to it. Restaurant front very deceiving. Food was excellent, we had the meatloaf, which was Thursday nights special. Drinks are spot on. Highly recommend this place. Oh yeah, the employees are very welcoming.

Enter a historic throwback with walls covered by large scale photographs and red flocked wallpaper. A Sunday dinner was very busy reflecting Harry's popular and loyal following. The food portions were generous and tasty, served steaming hot. Dinner finished with a good laugh as the waitress instructed us in how to click the pen.
