We stayed there for one night this summer. There were still some renovations going on in the hallway. We knew that beforehand, so it had no impact on this review. The rooms looked nice at first glance, but if you looked closer at certain spots, it was dirty and didn't get cleaned very well. Since we only stayed for one night, we used the bare minimum of this establishment's facilities. We didn't even enter our balcony, but this became a big problem, as we learned about it a couple of weeks later. Apparently, the previous guests left some cigarettes and ashes on the balcony. Unfortunately, the cleaning staff didn't see nor clean that before our visit. Because of that, we didn't get back our 100$ incidental. We tried talking to the manager, but he didn't believe us and had no mercy on us. We learned a good lesson during this stay. Always check the room first and take some pictures for evidence. After hundreds of nights in different hotels, this is the first time something like this has happened. I will never set foot back into this place.

Decent enough hotel overall. Front desk folks are great... very kind, professional and sympathetic. They wanted to make sure our stay was great. Nice touch to provide cookies upon checkin. The hotel is still being renovated though which leaves some unsightly areas. We stayed mid week in early January, so hardly peak season, but never saw more than one or two other cars in the parking lots (one on each side of the building). Sort of funny given how few people were here that there was another family right above us whose footsteps and banging around were pretty loud. We had a three queen room which was awesome for our family of 5 and the main reason we booked here. The room is right on the landing of the stairs though so frequently had loud footsteps climbing and descending the stairs. Our room was renovated very nicely so that was excellent but strangely enough, the baseboards were carpeted. Not sure if they didn't get redone or if that was by design, but looks a little strange. Also there are some touch up areas needed on the walls and in the bathroom, but I imagine those will get taken care of once the reno is totally complete. Bathroom was very clean and nice rain shower. Toilet is one of those 1 or 2 deals where you push the "1" button for a pee or the "2" button for a poo. I guess it saves water but I am personally not a fan of them. I did really like liquid hand soap at the sink though. Speaking of the sink, it's in the main room so you can't use the lights or get ready for bed if your kids are already asleep since it is essentially right there with them. The breakfast buffet was one of the best continental breakfasts we've ever had. They chopped up fresh strawberries and had fresh blueberries as well as eggs, sausage, waffles, cereal, toast, bagels, Danish and juice. Really nice touch having the fresh fruit! For the most subjective comment in the review, the beds and pillows were very comfortable and easy to get a great night's sleep in. There's a little grocery store right around the corner in case you forgot anything which, of course, we did. For the price and the location, it served our needs just fine as a family. I felt safe and slept well each night.

Just checked into room 109. Room was nice but had a really loud noise happen twice in a short period. Called the front the desk. Front desk clerk was super responsive, came to the room and let us know that there are two large generators on the other side of our room wall. Seems like a known issue with the room. Seemed that he tried to do his best to find us another room but according to him his manager would not allow him to do anything to help us unless we wanted to pay extra to upgrade to another room. As I booked this room through Capitol One Travel, I will also be sharing my experience with them. Seems really wrong to know about this ongoing issue, allow people to check-in, and then try to get them to pay extra to get a room that is quiet. If we hadn't checked in so late, I would have just left and found another hotel. The room itself is nice, clean, and modern. Sad that management operates this way. Here is the rest of the review based on our two nights stay: Positives - 1. Best shower ever. I was surprised at how great the water pressure and heat were. Even in really nice hotel you get the low flow water fixture. Not here. 2. Decent breakfast. Nothing fancy but still plenty for breakfast each morning. 3. Keurig in the room with coffee, decaf, and tea. 4. Cookies in the afternoon. 5. Room was small but decor was modern and clean. You can tell it was recently remodeled. 6. Staff were very friendly. Negatives - Only one negative but its a really major one for me...incredibly thin walls. On the first floor the doors in the hallway would bang super loud. Throughout the night you could hear loud conversations that felt like they were in your room. Sleep was not good because of this. That along with the loud mechanical room noise in room 109 would keep me from staying here again. Maybe the upper floors are better in regards to noise but if I had known how loud the room would be and the issue with the mechanical/elevator room, then I would have paid more to get a different room or stay some place else. Having this info on the website would have been helpful to me to know to book a higher floor room.

The pictures for the double bedroom junior suite are true to form...as advertised. I will note the bathroom is extremely tiny. And there should be some kind of privacy door for the vanity/dressing area. Cute sleep sofa provided. It definitely needs a coffee table to make it more functional. The beds are extremely comfortable. Note: we did have a housekeeping issue with the beds. No one expects to pull back the sheets and find spots of blood. (Gross), but it does happen. I've even experienced this at 5 star hotels. ALWAYS, ALWAYS examine your beds upon check in. Housekeeping will cut corners and ignore obvious issues (dirty towel hanging on the back of the bathroom door at check in). The front desk responded immediately to replace the sheets and make the situation right, but still this never should have happened. Will I stay there again or recommend this place? Probably not, but I was not totally disappointed. It's just not up to my standards.

Was fortunate to stay in one of the newly remodeled room and it was amazing! Great decorations and comfortable bed. What stood out the most was how great the customer service is from check in , during and check out time. Staffs were really friendly. Free breakfast was great too. Lastly, my fiance left her ring in the hotel and the staffs were able to mail it back to us. Greatly appreciate it!

Found this place at the past minute. If you are staying in Santa Barbara I highly recommend this Inn. The rooms are clean and newly renovated. Even the floors are well maintained. Plus they have a lot of food with their free breakfast. The staff was excellent and all friendly. I certainly would stay here again and hopefully longer the next time. Also they are close to the beach you can walk to the boardwalk and dine and take pictures there. And across the street behind the baseball field there is a free museum that looks like the wild west and it is free. Stop by there if you have time.

My stay here was great from the moment I walked in. I was greated warmly by the lovely front desk agent, Samantha. She was friendly, knowledgeable about the area, and was very happy to help me get a room for the night. I was there much earlier then check in and as her manager, Jake, was walking by I inquired about an early check in. Typically they wouldn't so early but Jake gave an assist by checking directly with housekeeping to see if one was available so early on. There was, I really appreciated accessing my room early thanks to the accommodating manner of Samantha and Jake. The room was clean and modern with a hint of retro beach style. It even had a balcony to view the gorgeous SB sunrise from, or gaze at the stars at night. The next morning they had a delicious, fresh breakfast bar that was kept stocked and clean thanks to the diligent breakfast attendant Sean. Then to finish my great stay as I was leaving I asked if they had an ice machine to fill my water bottle, unfortunately since they are doing a bit of construction it wasn't accessible to guests, but Ms. Glory, the Assisstant Manager, was gracious enough to go and fill up my water bottle for me. All in all, a 10 out of 10 would visit again. Thank you to all the Staff at Avania Inn

Honestly, this place is great in all ways except for one: the thin walls. If you're a light sleeper like me, I wouldn't recommend it because you will be up all night. But, if you don't mind the noise, then I would definitely pick this place over the others. Overall, it's a fantastic option if you're looking for a new, comfortable and enjoyable stay

We really enjoyed this hotel. The staff are incredibly friendly and the rooms are comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and the cookies every afternoon was a great touch. I highly recommend this hotel.

BEST EXPERIENCE! I would give 10 stars if I could. The exterior of the Hotel isn’t that fancy but they have very very friendly staff, excellent service, very clean rooms, and AMAZING BREAKFAST! We woke up one day and our car battery died. The staff there helped us jump our car and find nearest mechanics to the hotel. I mean honestly I’m not sure why this hotel is a 3 star hotel. They definitely deserve a 5 star. Thanks to Jamaru, Daniela, and Leonela we had an unforgettable experience.

Five stars with a "but". As it depends what you were expecting. On our California trip this was the least expensive pppn, and I loved it. Cookies on arrival, amazing, staff engaging, breakfast buffet style and plentiful. Some minor "buts", pool nice but in need of a bit of renovation, rooms clean, but just a bit of touch up on paint needed, but nothing to take away from the amazing location and general feel. Thank you for wonderful stay.

My husband and I had a very pleasant stay at Avania Inn. The hotel has been renovated and looks very modern and clean. They offer continental breakfast which is more than just pastries. What stood out is they offer eggs, hashbrowns, and rotate out different breakfast meat. Plus they had berries for your waffles. They also had a latte machine where I could make myself a cappuccino. The location was excellent. There is a quaint park across the street and it was nearby State Street. One one of the days we walked to one of the bike rentals on the street from the hotel to cruise around. My only qualm with the hotel was that the cable occasionally would freeze and need restarting. But that only really happened when flipping through the guide screen. All of the hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming. I would stay here again. Definitely a great value for the area.

Avania Inn is a smaller hotel in Santa Barbara that is in a nice location and focused on fantastic customer service. Avania is a 5 minute walk from the SB Harbor and beach. Easy to carry your beach chair and items, and enjoy the sunshine. The rooms are clean and spacious, and very clean. We had a King Room, and had plenty of room to move around, plus with an added balcony with 2 chairs. The bed was nice as were the pillows. The bathroom was fine, with the only drawback having a smaller shower and the glass shower shielding only covering half of the area. Water spray would come out of the shower, which required a short cleanup. However, the water pressure was very nice. The breakfast buffet had a variety of food for everyone. Waffles, eggs, drinks, cereal, fruit, yogurt, breads, ect... Thank you Avania!

For serving as an Inn, this is one of the most pleasant stays we've had as a family of five travelling the west coast and AZ areas. The rooms are delightful, spacious and well organized. The service from all parts of the staff were top notch. They seem to have a high standard on all levels. There was a positive vibe between the staff members 👍🏻 The location was perfect for going downtown, strolling to the beach and for a starting point for running in town. The area was quiet and calm, even if it is in close vicinity to the beach, the shopping areas and the bars. The pricing was ok and the amenities were good. One warmed up pool and a smaller well heated pool was great for the kids and us adults. Parking and breakfast was very good. Highly recommended to stay at Avania.

We had a lovely time staying in the Avania Inn. Clean, big rooms that seemed to be recently refurbished. The bed is comfortable and big. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The Avania Inn is well located, possible to walk to many spots and leave the car at the safe hotel. Single use plates and cutlery for the breakfast seems weird to europeans but is normal in the US.

The rooms are big and clean, great location just minutes from the harbor, the breakfast is probably one of the best we ever had in a hotel, but the best is the staff, everyone is so positive and helpful from the girl at the counter to the guy serving the breakfast. We saw how meticulous they are cleaning everything after breakfast is served, all the staff was hands on making sure everything looked perfect. Thanks!!!

Though it's rated 3 stars, we got 5 star treatment. The employees were very pleasant and helpful. They always asked if I needed anything. We would stay there again.

My girlfriend and I stayed for a weekend, Friday - Sunday. The rooms have been nicely updated, clean, and the beds were comfortable. I gave the room a lower score due to the thinness of the walls and the other guests. Lots of hallway noise, especially from 1:30 am - 2:30 am both nights. Some thicker walls or sound insulation would go a long way. From a sign on a blocked off room in the lobby it looks like they are still undergoing some renovations. Hopefully, this is part of the updates. Besides the nosie, this hotel was nice - friendly staff, decent continental breakfast, and comfortable room.

Loved the Avania Inn! The entire property from the exterior, lobby and room were so well cared for, pride of all who work here shines. The staff was five star and seems as they have been trained for a higher end hotel. Our room was super clean with no cleaning fragrance, I inspect every room I stay inn. The towels were thick and heavy and the sheets were super white of great quality. The bed was a perfect blend of firmness and comfort. Free breakfast with many quality items and I loved their coffee. Places to visit within walking distance, a five minute drive to the ocean and a quiet street makes this my next place to stay again, thank you Avania Inn!!

Hotel is a construction side but we’ve been there with a baby, enjoyed a brand new room and did not have any trouble with construction noise during the ‘siesta’ of the baby. Outstanding friendly staff and fresh fruits at breakfast. If the hotel would now replace plastic dishes for breakfast with real one it would become a 5 star rating.

Everything was decent about this place. Close to freeway, close to the beaches and close to SB town centre. The rooms newly renovated, but seems like someone ordered bigger mattresses than the bed frame itself- perhaps couldn’t return them so they just left them with one side just hanging over. Looks odd and funny. I wondered what the story was. Breakfast was decent, nice waffles with fresh strawberries and blueberries.

Do not assume the worst! It is currently being remodeled. We pulled into the parking lot thinking that we may of made a mistake. We asked to see the room before we checked in. The remodeled rooms are perfect! The beds are so comfortable that I am currently writing this review from it lol! I want to take the pillows home! Very clean! The a/c works incredibly! They offer free breakfast, free cookies, and free parking for one car.

Staff excellent especially Samantha who gave us some good tips on where to visit. Room was of a very high standard with all the facilities working well. The shower was excellent. Refurbished room very clean and modern with a great mural of Santa Barbara. I would make my next stay in Santa Barbara here. BTW good location to the beach, Funk Zone and marina locations.

Wow. Amazing staff! Everyone was so friendly and helpful! Breakfast was so delicious, fresh fruit!! Room was newly remodeled. Construction was underway for more remodeling, but they were not a nuisance. James was so helpful during breakfast and Tawny checked us in, made sure we had a map to explore and some cookies! Very pleasant stay

We had brand new rooms with our own little backyard. Loved it! They also cooked fresh cookies for guests, which was cute. There was construction going on but we never heard it, just saw it. Staff was helpful and friendly. We didn't use the pool because the water looked a bit green, but we were more interested in sightseeing. This place is super close to a lot of things and we walked everywhere our whole stay. No need to drive!

Great place. Price was just right. Has a pool and hot tub. Room was very nice. We had a view of the mountains. The room had everything you would need. Fridge, microwave, kureg coffee pot, iron and ironing board, hair dryer. Beds were very comfortable. You walk to the pier, beach, restaurants.

This is a lovely little motel in Santa Barbara. It is within walking distance to the water front and in a cute neighborhood with a park across the street. The hotel was nice and in good condition consider it is an older motel that has been updated (like most hotels in Santa Barbara). The room was clean and big. Nice bathroom and it had a full closet with mirrors which was nice. The hotel had a grab and go breakfast in the morning and fresh cookies and coffee or tea in the evening which was a very nice touch. Also had free parking on-site. I gave 4 stars because the walls are thin and I could hear people going up and down the stairs and talking in the hallways constantly until 3AM. If you are a light sleeper, make sure you bring ear plugs! Other than that, it is a great spot that I would stay here again.

Pros: Great location for walking to the beach or the funk zone! The front desk guy Michael Green (yeah so good I remembered his name) was amazingly hospitable. Surprised he wasn’t manager. They had fresh baked cookies in the lobby The bed was surprisingly very comfortable so much my kid just knocked out on it They had a grab and go breakfast Cons: The hallway and our bathroom had a funky smell We were on the first floor inside next to the lobby. The front door was a little rough to get in and out of since it automatically closed and was a tight fit bringing a stroller in and out Parking is free…but is first come first served. So if you leave at night to get food, you may need to walk or risk not having anywhere to park since there are definitely more rooms than spaces

Very bad experience in this place. The lobby doesn't open till 7:30 a.m. so that there is no place for early risers to sit. No workout room. The water tastes like vomit. The fan/heater kept blowing cold air no matter how we tried to adjust it. We stayed there for four nights and later discovered in the bill that after two nights they charged us hundred dollars in addition to the original price and then the last night 120 without any explanation. DO NOT RECOMMEND IT!

One star for facilities, add one star for staff. Edit: Response to Manager. Good, best of luck. Your facility is in desperate need of an overhaul and I hope it takes you guys up a notch. The location is pretty good.
