This Taqueria lives up to its name! From the freshly made tortillas to the aromatic meat each aspect is delicious. I found it to be a true epicurean experience at a pretty fair price quite frankly. The neighborhood around this place is nice and is near to some parks that can be a good place to check out after having a well deserved meal. I enjoyed being able to see my food be made in front of my eyes and I could tell that everybody working had a love for their craft. The only issue I had with my experience was the wait due to the large crowd of people but I suppose that speaks volumes to the quality of the product.

I went by hearing a lot of praise. My expectations were very high, but the grilled steak I ate had no taste at all. The side dishes were tastier.

Great food! Best homemade corn tortillas Reasonable price & great flavors! Staff is friendly & super hard workers! Dont let the line discourage you from trying it out. It's worth the wait! I travel 2 hrs away just to have a great lunch! I highly recommend the chorizo quesadilla & the chili rellano with cream sauce

If you find yourself in Santa Barbara, do yourself a favor and stop by La Super-Rica. This place has probably the best Mexican food I have ever eaten. It’s off the beaten path but worth finding. The line outside will be a sure sign you are in the right place. The ingredients are fresh. They make their own tortillas and a variety of fresh salsas to eat with your meal. Everything I have tried here has been exceptional. It’s not fancy but it’s authentic and very reasonably priced. I will never miss a visit here while in the area.

Don't expect fast food! Your in the wrong place. But you don't have to wait very long. This is very fresh food made right in front of you. The best fresh corn tortillas. You must come back to always try a new dish. Very clean restaurant, clean restroom as well. Happy and friendly staff. Great experience in dinning.

Quick Summary Excellent food with so much variety and the best corn tortillas ever (the texture is a bit fluffier, almost an in-between a Chinese beef pancake and a regular pancake). Everything we ordered was fantastic. Cash only; we got so lucky that everything came out to just under $40 (the amount of cash I had left). There was a line on a Friday afternoon for lunch, but waited only about 20 minutes in line and about 10 minutes to get our food Food- 5 stars Super rica especiale- this was very good and super juicy. Lots of fatty chunks of pork, so not dry at all Tacos de Rajas- this was my favorite dish. Just so much flavor and balance. Really liked it Queso Fundido- great combination of the cheese with the tomato sauce. Dipping this with the corn tortilla was so good Vegetable tamale- very good as well. A good dish to try out their salsas, which were fantastic (green sauce was very bright and balanced, red/orange sauce had a little kick and really good) Guacamole- this was fresh and pretty standard. It was a good way to balance the heavy meal Horchata- really good and not too sweet. Very fresh ingredients on all their dishes Service- 5 stars Fast casual old-school spot. They don't have a modern POS system, but line moved pretty quickly and we got our food pretty quickly after we ordered Bottom Line Excellent food and great value. The best corn tortillas I've ever eaten. Definitely worth the hype! Bring extra cash to try out more dishes!

Wow, now I understand! A sleepy, warm Thursday evening… I had cash and time… there was no line… today I will try La Super-Rica. So so glad I did. Wait is long, even when there was no line, I waited around 25 minutes. Cash only. I ordered the adobado taco & a special, a pork tamale with red cream sauce. While waiting, I met this guy who has been coming here for over ten years, he told me the history and how he always recommends ordering from the specials menu, especially the tamales! The salsas were divine. Highly recommend the green one, and EXTRA TORTILLAS! The tamale was heavenly, so much flavor and depth. Mid-bite I discovered there were olives inside and that range of salty bitterness against mild spice - wow. A must-stop if you have time on your hands (if you’re in a rush, you might get stressed). Also, there is an amazing sitting area with so much natural light and bright color that feels like a warm family dining room, totally makes the wait feel less enduring. Will be back and highly recommend!

Tried a couple tacos and tamale. Everything was good and the condiments were a nice touch. The wait is dependent upon the orders made and line out front starting before they open.

The food is out of this world fresh and delicious. Corn tortillas are made by hand and all dishes are made to order. I cannot get enough of the pastor. Bring cash and prepare to wait a bit while they prepare your meal.

Cash only! Flavorful meat packed Street tacos a la cart. Lots of options. With Made to order tortillas. Just have to wait more than usual for your order. No joke salsa bar of pico, red and green salsa.

Really great tacos with super fresh tasting tortillas. They were so nice and soft. You could see someone making them in the kitchen with a giant bowl of dough. We tried the bistec, adobado and chorizo tacos and all three were delicious. Hard to pick which was better between adobado or chorizo. The salsas are very tasty too!

This place is amazing. Cash only, line out the door, and worth every minute of the wait. Staff is amazing at what they do and very friendly. Food was to die for, the creme chili relleno was insane!

Julia Child was right! So was my darling husband, who for years had told me we had to have lunch here the next time we were in Santa barbara. Some of the best Mexican food I've ever had, and I cannot wait until we are in town again to go back.

My partner took me through 40min of traffic on the 101 to eat at this place and it was worth it. Come for the fresh corn tortillas, stay for the great chorizo. I ordered a chorizo taco and the super rica especial - both were amazing. I'd strongly recommend stopping by. However, beware that this place only takes cash and that there is typically a wait.

Tortillas are made by hand when you order. Nothing better than fresh warm cooked tortillas on your street tacos. Try the chili's rellenos with crema sauce special, it's amazing!

It’s good, but not great. There was a line out the door so I guess I expected it to be better. The tacos were a bit bland and didn’t have anything on them except the meat. The quesadillas were greasy. Two major negatives for me were that they don’t have a drink fountain with free refills, and that they only take cash, no credit cards. We wanted to try this place, but don’t see a need to come back.

Some seriously delicious tacos. I was raised in San Diego and currently live in Los Angeles so I have been very spoiled with taco options my whole life and these definitely fall into the great category. One downside is that it is cash only and the lines can get pretty long due to the lack of options in Santa Barbara. I wish they would have burritos and other options but this spot is specifically focused on tacos. Parking in the area can be kind of tricky, although we were able to find a space in the neighborhood a block away. Supposedly, this was Julia Child‘s favorite taco shop. I can’t say that it’s my favorite of all time, but it’s seriously delicious and I would definitely go back next time I am in Santa Barbara.

This was rated as one of the best Mexican food in Santa Barbara and it deserves to be!! It is a small place with Self Service and seating for 20 people. The food is delicious and there are a couple of options for Vegetarians.

The food is gooood! We had tamales and the watermelon drink was something! Really good. The sauces were tasty too! The staff were sweet. The food was tasty, it has parking space, we parked in the street.

The tamales vegetarianos and the tacos de rajas are so delicious. The caramelized onions in the tacos de rajas were special. The line to order looks long but it moves fast. Cash only.
