Honestly this place is phenomenal. People can bring their dogs on walks up there and everyone is so friendly. Great place to play fetch with your dogs as long as they are socially trained and get along with other dogs. Most dogs are unleashed. I ended up getting a reservation down at Boathouse at Hendry’s Beach and it wouldn’t be another hour before we were seated and we decided to take the small hike up to the preserve. It has beautiful views of the beach and a great place to picnic as well if you were so inclined to do so. You can even see the restaurant from atop the preserve. It’s a great way to the build an appetite. I recommend heading up there if you have to wait for your reservation to kick in. It’s a great experience being there.

Definitely my favorite park for walking my dog AND sometimes I can see dolphins from the cliffs :) This is not a hike, but more a "promenade" with many flat paths possible. If you do the whole perserve it's a great walk. Especially with all the trees that protect your dog and children from too much sun. You will find a bowl of water for dogs on the way to the ocean view. The view is stunning! Perfect for sunset. It can be windy, depending on the day. There are no public restrooms. Take your trash back, please. There are many free parking spaces on the street. You can also come from the beach parking (free) and use the path that goes up to the douglas perserve. I recommend it for sure 👌

Incredible spot. One of my favorite places to “get away” in Santa Barbara. Steps away from civilization but feels like you’ve gone miles into the forest. Stunning views of the valley, mountains, and ocean. You can see it all!

Such a nice place for a walk on a beautiful day. Very family and pet friendly. Great views and places for pictures. The air is fresh with the ocean breeze and aroma of the Eucalyptus trees. Saw the most amazing woodpecker loving tree🐦🌳🌴

Great place for a nice walk. A lot of dogs around. We parked in the neighborhood then walked all the way down to the beach. There are some nice views from atop the hill. I believe certain areas of the park are off leash zones for the doggos.

Doesn’t look like much when you drive up to park but WOW THE VIEWS! I would highly recommend for a short walk, esp with children & dogs :)

A common spot to walk dogs, this preserve offers views down the cliff and beach all the way to the channel islands (on a clear day). Many trails cross the whole property giving room to run, jog, or walk.

I had an amazing experience. The view is beautiful. The parking lot is free and the hiking trail is not difficult. I totally recommend this place. You can walk with your dog.

I have been going to this park for at least 25 years. With 3 different dogs. It never gets old. Please pick up after your dog. Respect the neighbors and enjoy the views.

So nice we hiked it twice! What a beautiful, easy hike along the Pacific. Doggos abound and there are great trees for kiddos (and willing adults) to climb. Lots of great flora to experience and some unique fauna, too (a natural bee hive in a felled tree!?!) Great way to spend a few hours while in Santa Barbara.

Douglas family preserve is the perfect place to stroll, explore or ponder. It is a great walk with kids or just to enjoy the coastal views. It can get breezy, so it is best to bring a jacket!

To us locals, we still call it "The Wilcox Property" It is a very serene place to walk and bring your doggies along. You can see the Chann Islands on a very clear day, off in the distance. You can also see "Hendry's Beach" as we locals still call it. It is now called Aroyo Burro Beach. I am telling ya...go here for a gorgeous sunset!!

Definitely among the best dog parks anywhere in the world! Nice, quiet, on a cliff overlooking the ocean and Channel Islands. Also has plenty of trees for shade.

If you wanna take a look from a high point this is the right spot! You can have a little walk, picnic watching the ocean and the Amazing variety of big 🌳. If you have a dog this park is made for them ! There is also a fountain with water and a lot of shadows!

The preeminent dog walking park in Santa Barbara. Plenty of zig zagging trail options throughout this mostly-flat preserve. Unbeatable ocean views from the endless bluff overlooking Hendry’s beach. Easy parking off Borton Road.

Saw a King Snake after sunset. Snakes are pretty rare this side of town. When I was a kid here, gopher snakes were common. Not now. We need them, gophers have taken over.
