Beautiful spanish furniture inside the home. No pictures allowed inside only outside. Too bad! Great detail went into the customizing the home.

Unique place with rich history. Worth the wait. Hard to get in due to village limitations. Book in advance.

The Casa Del Herrero (House of the Blacksmith) is a Time Machine back to the 1920’s and 30’s in Montecito, CA. Wrapped in the history, stories, and amazing facts of a time few of us think about. From handmade tiles to ceilings transported from churches in Italy, this home is made of magic. Thought and attention to detail is applied to every inch of the grounds, including the garden used for moonlit strolls under the full moon. A home filled with love, artistry, and community (And a workshop that made me green with jealousy). This place is a reminder of just what a home can be. More than just walls keeping the weather out but a fanciful world that provides rest and creativity, inspiring others even when the owners are long gone. If you get a chance to do the 90-minute tour you need to. It's a magical experience!

Extraordinary private home designed by George Washington Smith and built in the Spanish style with antiques and beautiful gardens in the heart of Montecito. Preserved and maintained by volunteers and a dedicated board of directors. Limited tours by appointment with well versed and devoted docents. Well worth the wait to see the house and grounds.

Someone said this is a smaller version of Hearst Castle. In some ways yes. Antiques curated by the same person, but this is much more intimate and personal. I loved this place. Highly recommend if you are interested in Santa Barbara, California, or Spanish history or architecture.
