This
review
is
way
overdue,
but
it's
been
a
long
couple
of
years.
My
wife
and
I
stayed
here
for
two
nights
in
April
of
2021.
We
chose
this
place
as
a
"splurge"
since
the
website
represents
it
as
being
a
resort
hotel.
In
reality,
it
is
a
barely
converted
motor
lodge.
As
we
had
a
one-year-old
child
at
the
time
and
had
very,
very
few
chances
to
ever
get
away,
particularly
with
the
pandemic
still
raging,
we
sprung
for
the
"Ocean
View
King"
room.
When
we
arrived,
we
discovered
that
said
"ocean
view"
was
only
visible
through
the
front
window
of
the
room,
far
out
past
the
pool,
parking
lot
and
highway.
In
the
immediate
foreground,
however,
this
window
looked
directly
out
onto
the
walkway
other
guests
used
to
access
their
rooms
in
the
motel
(yes:
motel).
Not
entirely
sure
who
would
find
it
relaxing
to
gaze
at
the
ocean
while
anyone
walking
by
can
see
right
into
your
room.
I
immediately
contacted
the
front
desk
to
express
my
displeasure.
They
told
me
they
were
booked
up
that
night
but
would
look
into
other
options
the
next
morning.
The
next
day,
we
were
told
another
room
would
be
made
available
and
we
could
move
to
it
as
soon
as
it
was
cleaned.
We
were
also
told
that,
despite
this
other
room
not
being
ready
yet,
we
still
had
to
check
out
of
our
current
room
by
11
AM
so
they
could
clean
it
and
flip
it
for
new
guests.
We
complied.
Despite
checking
in
with
the
front
desk
repeatedly
throughout
the
day,
our
new
room
was
not
made
available
to
us
until
6.5
hours
later,
at
approximately
5:30
pm.
The
hotel
had
also
instituted
a
one-hour
limit
at
their
pool
due
to
Covid,
which
meant
that
as
of
noon
we
had
nowhere
to
go
and
nothing
to
do
as
we
still
had
nowhere
to
move
our
luggage.
So
we
wound
up
spending
the
heart
of
our
two
night
stay
with
no
room
and
no
pool
access
at
the
rate
of
$325+
per
night,
all
due
to
the
hotel's
sheer
lack
of
urgency
in
getting
us
situated.
I
spent
a
portion
of
that
timeframe
looking
for
another
hotel
in
the
area
we
could
go
to
instead,
but
due
to
the
fact
that
this
weekend
coincided
with
spring
break,
none
were
available.
So
we
simply
had
to
suffer
through
our
bad
fortune
of
having
chosen
the
Hotel
Milo
to
begin
with,
believing
its
representation
on
the
website
to
be
accurate.
I
contacted
the
GM
after
our
stay.
He
expressed
no
remorse
and
simply
said
we
should
try
to
come
stay
there
again.
I
pointed
out
the
inherent
flaw
in
his
logic:
why
would
I
want
to
repeat
an
experience
that
was
underwhelming
and
wholly
unsatisfactory
to
begin
with,
particularly
at
such
a
high
cost?
I
then
contacted
our
credit
card
company
to
dispute
the
charge.
When
they
reached
out
to
the
hotel,
the
GM
was
completely
dishonest
with
them,
fabricating
steps
he
and
his
staff
allegedly
took
to
alleviate
our
situation,
which
they
did
not.
Just
an
overall
terrible
way
to
run
a
business
and
to
treat
customers
who
simply
wanted
a
very
rare,
very
brief,
very
much-needed
and
very
expensive
getaway.
We
have
stayed
at
more
affordable
hotels
in
Santa
Barbara
(like
the
far
superior
Harbor
View
Inn
right
up
the
road)
as
well
as
other
luxury
hotels
that
cost
in
the
vicinity
of
what
this
place
does.
But
with
those
hotels,
at
least
we
got
a
quality
experience
for
what
we
shelled
out.
Not
so
with
the
Motel
Milo.
Save
yourself
the
agony
and
stay
elsewhere.
