If I could give zero stars, I would. We stayed here on our wedding weekend. We booked a "suite" 9 months before our wedding. When we went to check in, we were given a room with a couch bed. Not even a real bed. They charged our card and gave our room away. We were able to eventually be relocated into a regular room with a regular bed but had to move to three different rooms over the course of a 4 night stay. The staff was not helpful or sympathetic at all. We live in Santa Barbara and would not recommend this hotel to ANY visitors, ever. We are in the process of disputing our credit card charges as this experience was the worst I've ever experienced. I have NEVER written a google review -- this is the first time. I am really easygoing and generally a happy person; this hotel is awful.

I booked a room last minute, checked in about 10:30pm, was so exhausted that I came in the room sat my bags down by the door turned on the heater and sat down on top of the bed waiting for the room to warm up. Next thing I know i wake up shivering because it’s so cold in the room despite the noisy heater blowing full blast! (the room was probably as cool as the outside, right around 37) The first time I called front desk, there was no answer.. so I waited a few minutes. Finally when the guy at the front desk answered I told him the room is unbearably cold and asked for a space heater, only to be informed that this is out of his hands and there’s absolutely nothing he can do!! After getting off the phone and about to head to my CAR to go warm up, I remember that they definitely have extra rooms available because the girl that checked me in had said this is the slowest night I. A long time.. and there were at the most 20 cars in their parking lot!! So why would I have to call 2x to ask for a room with a working heater!?! I would think being one of the nicer hotels they would want their guests to be comfortable!.. and would have offered that immediately if as a solution! I am still shocked that the front desk guy told me he doesn’t believe he has any rooms available initially!!! I’m pretty sure Motel 6 tries to accommodate their guests a little more then this place!!

This is not a hotel! Just a very chic motel! Considering the price of 1 overnight stay here is nearly $750 (after the mandated tax) they are overrated and overpriced. Avoid if you can, I wouldn’t usually comment on a holiday break but do not let this motel fool you. Our room was draughty and noisy, people looking into our room through the large front window and generally not great. I’m actually surprised they didn’t charge for parking. If you want to stay in a Hilton, stay in a Hilton (and not the Leta ‘by Hilton’)…

This hotel has a very nice appearance and appeal from the outside & the rooms are quaint on the inside except: The rooms smell like raw sewage & the fire alarm goes off randomly and frequently. I stayed here for 12 weeks for work & it was clear that the hotel staff didn't think that I wasn't a priority as a guest. Getting the housekeeping staff to clean my room once every 7-10 days was like pulling teeth & when they finally made it around to clean my room they took my cell phone charger. I wrote an email to the manager & brought this to the attention of the hotel front desk staff 4 times & nothing was ever done about it. There's no hotel security to chase away the random tweakers who look through people's cars down in the parking lot.

This was just a cool property. I travel to a lot of Hilton properties with work, but this was a leisure trip with family in CA. I'd recommend staying here for work or leisure as it's just a great place. The rooms were a bit small and the doors/windows are dated, but the rooms have new finishes on the bathrooms, furniture, etc. and were very nice. The hotel property is a fun place to be. Patio restaurant had excellent breakfast and the lobby bar was a cool enclave. The decor was neat, the pool area has really nice plants. I was surprised at how nice it was given the price point.

I prefer a 0 star if I can. The front desk staff is very nice. But the hotel is pretty old and condition is bad. The toilet was blocked at 1st day we checked in. The water overflowed from the toilet and flew to the floor. The exhaust fan in the bathroom was not working until the engineer was called to fix it. The guy who sanitized the toilet used the same rag to wipe the toilet, floor and the countertop of the sink.

I've had the pleasure of staying at numerous accommodations around the world. My recent visit to Leta Santa Barbara, however, stands out as a truly exceptional experience. From the moment I stepped into this charming boutique hotel, I was captivated by its unique blend of retro luxury and serene ambiance. Leta Santa Barbara's location is ideal for those seeking a peaceful getaway. Nestled amidst beautiful Santa Barbara and only a short drive away from the beach, the hotel offers a perfect balance between tranquility and accessibility to local attractions. The views of the Santa Ynez Mountains from the hotel's premises are nothing short of breathtaking. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the warm and attentive staff who made me feel like a valued guest. The check-in process was seamless, and the staff went out of their way to ensure I had all the information I needed to make the most of my stay. My room at Leta Santa Barbara was a haven of comfort and elegance. The interior design exuded a sense of understated sophistication, and the attention to detail was apparent in every corner. The room was impeccably clean, and the amenities provided were of the highest quality. One of the highlights of my stay was the hotel's restaurant, which offered a culinary journey that exceeded my expectations. The chef's creativity was reflected in each dish, and the locally sourced ingredients added a delightful touch to every meal. Dining in the open-air courtyard under twinkling lights was an enchanting experience that I won't soon forget. Leta Santa Barbara also boasts a well-maintained pool and spa area, where I spent many relaxing hours. The spa treatments were rejuvenating, and the poolside lounging area provided the perfect spot. My stay at Leta Santa Barbara was nothing short of magical. From the impeccable service to the stunning surroundings, every aspect of the experience was curated to perfection. If you're seeking a luxurious yet tranquil retreat in the heart of Santa Barbara, I wholeheartedly recommend Leta. It's a gem that promises an unforgettable stay, leaving you with cherished memories and a longing to return.

We stayed here for two nights on our way down to San Diego. The rooms were ok, I read a review before coming that talked about the lack of privacy if you want any natural light and found that to be very true. But otherwise the rooms were fairly nice. Checking in took awhile as their systems were slow and the staff was nice but in no hurry. They had one person working the check in who was doing her best, but when a line started no one stepped in to help her. I also thought that while the restaurant was nice looking, it was over priced for what you get. It wasn’t a bad stay, but not sure I’d go back.

The Leta Hotel evokes everything California should be and is. From the Woody car and airstream out front to the laid back lobby with an ever running fireplace and side vinyl record room and finally to the rooms overlooking the classic old school style motel pool. I booked the Leta Hotel as the primary lodging for myself and my wedding guests about 1 year out - we simply fell in love with it and knew this had to be the spot. It was where our friends and family congregated in the morning over breakfast, laid by the pool and caught up, and grabbed amazing drinks (props to the spicy margaritas). So many guests stated that it felt like a vacation wedding because they could enjoy the Leta in between events. We stayed in a patio suite and it was perfect! The staff was a dream to work with in terms of adding additional room blocks, outlining important things in the contract, and addressing any and all issues with our guests. Would highly recommend and cant wait to go back!

After reading the mixed reviews I was a bit hesitant but we had a really great stay. We chose this hotel because we had our dog with us and they boast being dog friendly. They truly made all of us feel very welcome. The staff was friendly and attentive. We ate at the restaurant a few times and the food was really good. Check in was super easy and you’re greeted with a beer. We had a nice pool view room with a comfy bed. Each room has a record player and a yoga mat. The only flaw of the rooms are that the bathroom only has a sliding door instead of an actual door. So basically ZERO sound privacy. 🙉 The grounds are cute and quaint. The outside patio has heaters and nice fire pits. The pool is heated and their side bar is also really cute. Overall a great stay. We had no issues and we would definitely stay there again.

Chic looking public spaces and courtyard was quite nice. Our room was nicely furnished and clean. No complaints there. Actually having a shower door would have been nice, but not a deal breaker. And to those reviews complaining this is a motel - it’s super common for hotels, even nicer ones, to have outdoor hallways in CA. I am rating as only 2 stars because noise was an enormous issue. The room is poorly insulated to the outside (both sound and temp - you can feel the wind around the door and hear every suitcase being wheeled outside, the ceiling (you can hear every step of the hotel guest above) and to the sides (a baby crying next door sounded like they were in the room with us). Additionally the old school AC/heating utilizes some sort of compressor that comes on every once in a while for prolonged periods that is high pitched and about as loud as a hair dryer. Loud enough you have to turn up the tv to be able to hear. Try sleeping to this - not possible. We woke up multiple times the first night when this would kick on and ended up needing to turn the whole unit off, which is sort of a problem since it was in the 40s at night during our stay, and as mentioned above - horrible insulation to the outside. The next night, we ended up blocking around the door with towels to try to keep the room more insulated, and then cranking the heat to max to get the room super hot - and hoped that it maintained enough heat through the night. The second issue is privacy - the only window to the room is a big window to the courtyard. The sheer shade is so sheer that you can see directly into everybody’s room basically with zero privacy. So your choices are total darkness in your room by putting down the blackout shade or exposing your everything you do to the other guests.

My new favorite hotel in the Santa Barbara area. Love the retro design which had been modernized with surfer and hipster decor with a festive style. The restaurant is delicious, the pool is refreshing and quiet, the staff are lovely and helpful and it’s a perfect dog friendly hotel. I will be back.

Let me start by saying the staff is excellent and very accommodating. But that is where this hotels high points end First off paper thin barn doors on a bathroom are a bad idea unless you are into hearing everything the people you travel with do in the bathroom. Secondly there was no fan in the bathroom thus steam and smells flowed into the main room and because barn doors don’t really seal again pore design. Last but this is a minor one no microwave in room but I will not you can request one and they will deliver it to your room. Upon first glance new modern trendy remodel of an older hotel but falls flat when it comes to actual use.and a side not lose of another star for not having an EV charger on site.

It seems that the room we are staying was renovated from a motel room. A big surprise for the brand Kimpton and it's completely different from any Kimpton experience before. Be extra careful before you make reservation as it may not be worthy. To me, prob will only book it when it's below $70/night, as it's nothing more than a slightly higher-end of motel.

Rooms are not worth what they are charging. It feels like staying in a motel room. We paid around $850 for 2 nights (without breakfast), which is really absurd price for this type of room. The only good thing is lobby, restaurant and common area. 1. The biggest problem is noise. You can hear people talking in next room (even when they are talking softly), cars engine noise, car door closing, people walking in the corridor. 2. Room is super cramped. We stayed in 2 queen bed room. After the bed and TV media console, there is hardly any room left to keep your luggage. 3. The sliding door for bathroom makes such a loud squeaking noise that everytime you go to the bathroom, you wake up everyone else in your room and neighboring rooms. I could hear similar sound from neighboring rooms. 4. Outdated bathroom fittings. Taps were so tight to operate and makes loud squeaking noise. 5. Iron board and Iron were perhaps 10 yrs old. Iron board's cover can't stay as it's so old. And Iron kept leaking water everywhere. 6. No privacy. The only window facing the corridor has this see through sheer curtain leaving you with no privacy if you want natural light. The other option is completely black out curtain, making room completely dark. If they want to charge this much for the rooms, they need to spend money to keep it up to date.

Terrible Experience - Noisy, Substandard Rooms, Misleading Pictures Me and my girlfriend had the unfortunate experience of staying at this hotel, and I must say, it was an absolute nightmare. From the moment we stepped foot into the room, we knew we had made a terrible mistake. First and foremost, the noise level is unbearable. It seems as if the walls are made of paper, as we could hear every conversation, footstep, and door slam from neighboring rooms. Trying to get a good night's sleep was impossible, as the noise persisted throughout the night. It felt more like sleeping in a busy marketplace than a supposedly peaceful hotel. Moreover, the standard of the room was shockingly low. The furniture looked worn-out and shabby, with stains and scratches everywhere. The bed was uncomfortable, sagging in the middle, and the pillows were flat and lumpy. The bathroom was no better. It felt like stepping back in time to a neglected, rundown motel. This is not a hotel, and definitely not a 4-star hotel at all!!! The pictures on Google were incredibly misleading. They presented the hotel as a modern establishment, but the reality was far from it. Our room looked nothing like the well-lit, spacious, and tastefully decorated pictures online. It was a disappointing bait-and-switch, leaving us feeling deceived and cheated. We strongly advise against staying at this hotel. Save yourself the disappointment and find a more honest establishment!

We have visited the Leta on several prior occasions. We loved it before but now the room had many minor wear and tear issues and some unclean furnishings that made the hotel look a bit old and not cared for. The majority of the hotel was empty during this last stay. We arrived late around 11 pm. Most rooms had open blinds where we could see many disheveled beds that housekeeping had not attended to for some time. We asked if we could be facing the courtyard on the Hilton app. Was offered an upgrade for 50$...Huh? the hotel was nearly empty. AND we always had interior rooms in the past. We asked again at check-in if we could be placed facing the courtyard and the guy said no problem! We were thinking, yes of course, obviously it should be no issue. But when we arrived to our room it was an exterior one. it was so late we didn't complain but it was a bummer overall. As an honors member its just bad service. Also someone knocked on our door around 9 am the following morning with a piece of paper and a highlighter and asked if we were going to be around all day- didn't identify who he was nor was he wearing anything to identify him as staff of the hotel. Maintenance maybe? But they can check this with the front desk surely. Anyway, it was strange. I think at this price point and being a Tapestry hotel it could have been a better experience. Especially that I had prior positive experiences to compare to.

i had a really good stay at the Leta Hotel in Goleta, Ca. Although this is not really my "style" hotel, it was clean, chic and very much a relaxing environment. Walking into the Lobby ,there is a 1960's beach vibe. They have two bars, one is open most of the time and there is another right next to the lobby (hours and time can be found at the front desk). they had a record room and a record player can be lent out during your stay, they have a beer on tap and is complementary at check in. The pool was inviting and right behind the pool lies a grassy area with a wooden picnic table, corn hole set and a giant connect four. they have a doggy area behind the building for your dogs needs. i didn't get the vibe that there were children around, not saying its not family friendly but definitely had a mature relaxing vibe. You are able to order from the bar and have drinks or food by the pool. they gym room was equip with clean and functioning nick-knacks. the rooms had books and a mini fridge. i asked front desk to lend a microwave (you have to request them asap as they are limited). the bathroom toiletries are full size, but you'll have to make sure they are filled, ours were not and there were no trash bags in any of our trash bins. the food at the restaurant/Bar wasn't bad. the bartender that wasn't very friendly at first warmed up to us after messing up our order and then took care of it. there are plenty of choices for food on the same block, groceries stores. i recommend if you are on a budget to hit up the dollar tree and or sprout for a frozen meal if you get a microwave. make sure you also request two bathrobes if your a couple. we just got the one. over all the staff seems nice and they will attend to your needs. with not a child in sight i would recommend this place for an adult get away. will definitely be visiting again.

Beautiful hotel, I was impressed from the moment I walked into the lobby. Has a retro 70s island vibe. Live music on the Saturday we stayed and the woman's voice was amazing. I will definitely be back for another weekend getaway.

A beach-themed hotel, it was nice to be able to check out a local favorite for ourselves, and we were pleasantly surprised. The lobby/food area was very inviting, rooms were simple, and the pool is gorgeous!! Will definitely recommend it to our visiting friends and family.

Very cute and well designed hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. I requested a late check out. I know it all depends on next day availability. Staff was friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and perfect size and the bed was comfy. The door to the bath room was a bit creeking but otherwise it was a great night.

Great experience here, pet friendly with a very friendly and helpful staff. My husand and I stayed there two nights. The back rooms on the second floor have nice views (see pictures). We had a delicious breakfast at the restaurant as well and met a local couple that go there often.

  • 2/5 Rebecca B. 2 years ago on Google
What a triumph in marketing. This hotel is appalling. There are no facilities at all. The photos of the gym are a misrepresention, no room to exercise and no free weights. The bathroom fan was loud and didn't turn off during our stay The door is opaque glass so lets light into the room if the bathroom is in use and absolute no privacy at all. Hot water is not hot enough No coffee or tea facilities in the room and no coffee available in the hotel as the restaurant and bar were closed. The power points next to the bed only worked on one side. The floors are in need of repair with a much better solution than is currently being used. At $400 a night this hotel is daylight robbery. (The booking was made in my husband's name but this is a genuine review) it's worth $120 at a stretch. Save your money or spend more wisely....but definitely don't stay here. The one redeeming feature is that the front desk staff are excellent.

The rooms are lovely ! Had a great stay there recently :) they provide free wine and beer upon check in which was a sweet surprise. The guy who checked me in was very friendly and helpful. The reason I'm giving 4 stars is bc his coworker [female front desk employee] was not friendly or helpful; I was relieved she didn't check me in but she certainly didn't make me feel welcome.

Charming hotel in a convenient location. Picture a motel converted into a boutique hotel with a sleek bar. The rooms were clean and the service was solid. The only gripes were that the rooms were relatively small and that the shower pressure was way too strong, to the point that it was slightly painful to shower.

  • 5/5 Hayley W. 7 months ago on Google
I love the free glass of wine upon arrival and the excellent customer service from the staff. I also love that it is a pet friendly hotel and my fur baby got to come too. This is my 4th time here . It is in a central location close to where my son goes to school and shops and restaurants.

We recently hosted our wedding reception at The Leta and we had such a great experience! The event staff, Jessica and Terell, were so personable, warm, and helpful, and made our day so special! They helped us plan every detail and went the extra mile to make us and our guests feel welcome. We also had a room block at the hotel for our guests and everyone enjoyed the amenities and location.

This hotel was amazing, everything you need in one place. Nice sitting are to relax or read a book, restaurant and bar were right within walking distance of room. Guest services are very friendly and welcoming. I will for sure be back, nice get away spot.

A wonderfully charming vintage yet modern place to stay! A quick drive to everything I wanted to do in the area. Welcoming to pets with no pet fee and free parking, a true rarity in California! Cindy at the front desk was really nice to interact with!

The property needs work - dumpsters and containers are an eyesore-that was literally the view from our room ‘our reserved room wasn’t ready when we arrived at 430pm. They found a different room that was ready around 5 . Grounds and Room needs paint. Coffee bar is appreciated but only chemical imitation cream options seems inconsistent with the Santa Barbara nature surf vibe the hotel is going for?

Located just outside Santa Barbara, this gem is tucked away in near-by Goleta. Little bit retro, yet comfy and spacious. Good vibes and attention to detail. Restaurant on site. A great place to just relax and "check out" without that hotel stay feeling.

Where do I even start…the rooms are like updated motel 6 rooms. I originally had reservation’s at the Hyatt as I am a world of Hyatt member. My husband and I were visiting with friends so we decided to try this place out since this is where they were staying. Needless to say for $856.00 for the weekend, there was nothing spectacular about this property. Not a 4 star hotel. The maid service or lack of isn’t explained. I called and asked for maid service at 2pm since they didn’t clean while we were gone. I was told it was too late. I asked for clean towels which were just left on the table. Body wash dispenser was empty. The general manager walked around like he was pretty miserable. I knew I should have known better and stayed at the Hyatt. Whoever replies to my review, please do not offer me a discount or refund. We did lodge there for the weekend and were charged accordingly. JUST DO BETTER

Such a delightful hotel. The rooms are clean, but really tiny. The staff is friendly. The bar/restaurant are excellent. The drinks are good and the food is absolutely amazing, although overpriced. I would gladly stay here again.

The staff is very welcoming and helpful. Just be careful with the room as they (or perhaps some of them) have a shared door with other room which may be locked but you will hear even the whispers from the other room and so will they. I don't think that a great thing when you are on vacation... Pool is very nice.

As a local resident, I have not stayed at the hotel. My wife and I go there about once a month to eat at the bar. This time, as usual, the bar and food were good although the menu is limited. The bar is very good with capable and friendly staff.

We stayed here last weekend and we’re disappointed in the experience. The place is done up very nicely and the people were super friendly. Unfortunately, the rooms need some work. Our first room’s toilet overflowed and the room we moved into didn’t have soap, the tv remote didn’t work, and the ac didn’t turn on. It was late in the night when we got back so we didn’t want to move again. The restaurant also left a lot to be desired. Our desserts came out before our drinks, I got the wrong dessert which had bacon in it, and our drinks were off. The restaurant manager was very kind and took care of us but I wish we had a better experience with the food and drinks. Overall, there’s a lot of potential, great service, location, and decor…rooms and restaurant need some work.

We had the most wonderful time! Such a quirky and cute hotel. Sarah at the front desk was incredible! She is so helpful, fun, and thoughtful - she really pushed this to a 5 star experience. We are looking forward to coming back!

Great service, and great value for your money. The walls are thin and doors are not the thickest, so you will hear outside noise and neighbors slightly. Overall it’s a good place to stay with yummy food and drink options. Good location to access grocery and gas station for any need, even walking distance, open very late, location was safe.

This is a nice little hotel with competitive prices, good service, free parking and is very dog friendly. The grounds were well kept, the pool was large and heated, and there was a small area where dogs could relieve themselves. The room was comfortable enough but was beginning to show its age. The bed did not have a box spring so it was a bit firm, and the down pillows needed to be doubled-up to provide adequate support. Shower pressure was good. My only complaint was that the happy hour menu items were a bit pricey for the quantity. Plan on ordering two of each item! The ambience in their outdoor dining patio was really nice.

The Leta is an original large, local hotel saved by refurbishment and updated to current standards and decor. Fun vibe, large well appointed rooms, lots of parking, and a friendly helpful staff. Quiet at night, great bar and restaurant on-site. Located walking distance to shops and restaurants. Connecting and handicap accessible rooms. Bed could be more luxurious. Oddly there is no way to block the room door open when bringing in luggage...maybe due to exterior entrances and CA state code? Loved my stay.
