The hotel room was really clean. So clean it smelled like bleach at first like in a hospital room. But the scent faded away as soon as we opened the windows of the room. Service was a blast and Dan and the staff was friendly and accommodating. They even helped me parked at the covered parking spot because it was too tight for my car and one of the staff gave their parking away for me. The hotel room we stayed was a bit darker but the modern lighting they put on for renovations were pretty much put into good use. The walls are thin but we weren't annoyed that much as the people upstairs slept in a good hour like we did. We also stayed post holidays season like Jan 3 so the crazy crowds are long gone. Casa del Mar inn is within walking distance to the Stearns wharf and state street. Lots of restaurants and bar to go to. The breakfast next day was okay. Bagels and pastries, oatmeal, cereal, coffee and tea, orange, are the very basic staple foods. No eggs or anything like that. It was good enough for us. Overall, I like our stay here and it is dog friendly. $15/night per dog is understandble compared to other hotels who are much more expensive. I would stay here again but maybe on a king or the dual rooms next time.

I love this place, the rooms are clean and cute, they have a nice courtyard area to sit and enjoy some free wine and cheese they serve in the evening. Best part is that this hotel is pet friendly. The location is great, walking distance to everything in the downtown area. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Perfect place to get away with your doggy. The only con is the rooms get a little warm during the summer, however they do provide additional fans to help keep you cool.

Front desk staff was very helpful. Breakfast was alright, good coffee and OJ. Would be nice to have almond milk as an option. Room was clean. Location was great and easy access to restaurants. Parking was good I parked on the street no problem. Maid service cleaned our room very quickly after putting the sign on the door. Free wine was nice touch each evening. Bed and pillows were comfortable.

The inn is charming, clean, and cozy. They offer wine and cheese from 5-7 pm, free of charge, which was a unique addition to our stay. Parking is free, and the inn is located right by the beach. Dan at the front counter is pleasant, sincere, and helpful. He warmly welcomed us to the inn when we arrived. If you're traveling through Santa Barbara, I recommend to stop overnight at this inn.

Great little gem. So close to the beach and marina, just about a block away. We stayed in a king suite. It was perfect for what we paid, very low key but clean, spacious and of course, great location. The hotel offered a continental breakfast and happy hour with wine and cheese, which we enjoyed. The front desk manager (Chris?) was super helpful and accommodating. I will definitely come back to SB and stay here. It was a nice place to stay for our anniversary.

We decided to go to Santa Barbara and chose this hotel, I am glad we did. Was right next to check-in. It was a big room with two queen size beds. The breakfast in the morning was delicious. Dan. The front desk guy was exceptional. If I go back to Santa Barbara, I will definitely stay here

I love this place. The unit we stayed in was more like an old fashioned apartment with original windows and doors so expect a lot of quirks. Our place was upstairs in a separate entrance with a full kitchen and as big as some apartments I have lived in. No shared walls except the downstairs. I have dietary restrictions so it is best if I cook most of my own foods. Comfortable enough for long stays, a block from the beach and short walking distance to State Street and many dining options.

travelled solo, no car. here are my thoughts. ✨ pros | the room is a no frills, comfortable living space. felt soooo peaceful being right out front in the greenery. nice/friendly staff who let me check in early and check out late. they have non-vegan breakfast and wine and cheese there which is niceee for everyone except for me. 😭(jealous) beautiful lush greenery(especially for photographers and content creators) nice walk within other popular non-vegan eateries sterns wharf is walkable comfortable walkable to state street cons | there are no front desk agents after 10pm-7am so if you are a woman who isn’t used to motel/inn environments, keep this in mind. there were two men on the outside of my door when i was coming from dinner. one looked like he was coming from the steps leading from my door. i was a little scared but ultimately was able to get in, unnoticed. neutral | wouldn’t highly recommend for solo woman travelers. but if you do, proceed with caution. 🫶🏽

Thanks to Christian, the GM, this turned from a horrible experience to customer satisfaction at its best. Booked a stay through hotels.com (will not use them again) and upon checkin found that our reservation couldn't be found. Called hotels.com and their awful customer service was of no help, so we booked a nearby hotel albeit at a higher price than we booked at Casa Del Mar. Long story short, asked hotels.com for a refund of difference between Casa Del Mar and place we ended up staying and after 6 phone calls of about 1 hour each and 3 empty promises to have a supervisor from hotels.com call me back, I was finally able to get them to give me a credit. In the meantime, Christian offered to make things right himself by offering a discount on a future stay PLUS refunding the amount out of his own pocket realizing that he would have better luck dealing with hotels.com than a customer would. Kudos to Christian and thumbs down to hotels/expedia - will never use them again. Book direct to save and get better customer support!

This was our favorite place to stay during our week-long vacation to California. The plants around the hotel are tropical and beautiful, and the vibe is very laid-back, classy, and relaxing. We enjoyed the close proximity to the beach and downtown, both of which were within walking distance. The staff at Casa Del Mar were helpful, friendly, and kind. My husband and I enjoyed the cheese and wine in the evening, and our kids loved the breakfast and the courtyard. We would definitely stay here again.

Super friendly staff. Free breakfast and wine and cheese between 5 to 7 pm. Walking distance to beach and lots of dinning places. The rooms are a bit dated but the great customer service makes it worthwhile. Would go back again

Stayed here for one night during my birthday weekend. Charming hotel with kind staff, and free wine & cheese at night. There is some parking on site and lots of parking in the surrounding streets. The location is awesome - just far enough away from the train and downtown so it’s pretty quiet at night. Downtown Santa Barbara, the beach, and the Wharf are walking distance so there is lots to do, eat, and drink!

very clean, the room was very aesthetically pleasing, the location is within a short walking distance from west beach, and i’m glad we stayed here for our trip. they even had a cute little nook with a window and a chair to read in.

Great place right off Cabrillo Blvd No AC in the rooms, but once you get the rhythm of the day's heat, it won't bother you too much. The complimentary breakfast and afternoon wine and cheese are a great touch. Walking distance from Stearns Wharf, the harbor, and very close to a Bcycle station to rent ebikes that can be dropped off at a bunch of different locations around the city. The doors don't quite fit their jams anymore, and the bed seemed a little small and quite firm. Solid lodging would stay again.

The staff was nice, we got fre breakfast, and it’s right in the heart of Santa Barbara. Oh, and it’s probably the cheapest decent hotel you’ll find in this area! I definitely recommend!

THE GOOD: Cozy inn with a B&B feel in a great location near the beach in Santa Barbara. My room felt more like a studio apartment than a hotel room, with a door to the outside, a spacious bathroom with small fridge & microwave, and a sitting area outside in a small garden. I loved having a bathtub and street parking available right outside my room. Staff were friendly and helpful. THE NOT-SO-GOOD: WiFi was not great (low bars and it would go in and out) and cell reception was also spotty. I’m glad I didn’t have any zoom calls while I was staying! The breakfast was mainly packaged items (no eggs, for example) and the wine & cheese happy hour was so-so. Nice that they offer these, but I skipped because they weren’t good quality (obviously just the stuff from the grocery store). They also don’t have any water kettles in the room, none available at the front desk nor any container I could use to brew hot water to make tea in my room. I’ve traveled all over the world and this is a standard offering even in places like Southeast Asia. I was surprised they couldn’t find any solution for me, and was unable to make tea during my stay. (I’m not talking about a tea bag in a cup, but proper Chinese loose leaf tea that I brew at high temps and need a lot of water to prepare) It was charming and worked out just fine, but it would have been nice to have some of the amenities of places nearby like a jacuzzi, restaurant, better WiFi and hopefully electric kettles.

Stayed 2 nights. Close to pier and great eats. Just wished they eased up on the bleach 😪 . Appreciate the cleanliness but not the fumes. Hardworking and friendly housekeepers.

The rooms we had was spacious and extremely comfortable. They are pet friendly. The grounds and courtyard are beautiful and well maintained. We arrived late in the evening. Daniel had the fireplace in our room turned on for us. He also brought us wine and a cheese platter. We will definitely stay here again!

The staff is awesome! The young lady at the front desk provided excellent customer service. She was very personable and extremely helpful. I'd definitely stay there again...the only issue is the parking situation, there's not enough, and if you have a large vehicle, forget trying to use the parking structured spaces.

Always a must go when we are in SB. Went here last night for dinner, and as always, the food was amazing. Already excited for our next visit!

Amazing place just off the beach in Santa Barbara. We had 3 rooms for family attending a wedding. Inside is like an amazing private botanical garden. Rooms were great. Free light breakfast and afternoon wine and cheese. Service was top notch.

This inn dates from 1925, but looks more like 1940’s bungalow. It was supposedly updated in 2006, but the room we stayed in looked like it was from the 1990’s. The pictures on the website are deceiving, it’s not as nice as the pictures make it look. There was a very dysfunctional kitchen, no counter space, an oven that didn’t work, and no kitchen drawers. The silverware was put in a cupboard on top of some dishes. We had to scrounge dish soap from the inn’s kitchen (which was as old as everything else) There was literally dishes for 2, some pots and pans and that was about it. No serving dishes of any kind, no bowls but cereal bowls. The whole place smelled like mold and mildew. We went out and got some Lysol to spray but it didn’t help much. There was a couch and chair that was so old and dirty I wouldn’t sit on it even covered with a sheet. The springs were shot. They should both go to the dump. Parking is limited. I don’t understand good reviews of this place. Positives are they take dogs, it’s close to the beach and pier, and the have breakfast in the morning. It’s small and quaint with a small courtyard and a fire pit. The staff was friendly and accommodating. It’s too bad this place is not kept up better. It would be lovely to keep the architectural details and update it to the 21st century. It could be so much better. My guess it would need about a million dollars to renovate to make it up to good standards. It would be worth it. I wish I could buy it, I would in a heartbeat. But alas I’m not a money rich person. 😔

I have been traveling a bit this week and this was my last stop and the best stop. Very cute Spanish bungalow style space. Loved the privacy. Very clean. Check in and check out was easy. The front desk staff very friendly, kind and helpful. The room came with a kitchenette and pots, pans, plates, utensils and a new sponge. It's like a little home away from home. Located across from the beach. Very quiet. The only draw back is parking maybe a challenge when you arrive as parking is limited and first come, first serve. There is parking on the street, read the signs as there are restrictions and permitted parking around which means you're not allowed to park there unless you live there with a permit. Once you find parking, my suggestion is eat local and walking around is not too bad just wear comfy shoes. There's lot to see, do and places to shop and eat. You can then comeback to the little oasis that awaits you at this inn. It's pet friendly with a pet fee/day. It's worth it. Can't wait to come back. Already planning my next stay here.
