Stopped in for the stunning view and a cocktail at happy hour. We tried the shrimp cocktail and mussels. I expected more from the shrimp cocktail. It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t knock my socks off at $14 at happy hour price. My companion had the mussels, and while they were tasty, they were very small. The service and atmosphere were fantastic and we’ll have something different in our next visit.

Come for the Happy Hour 3-630pm (inside only), and the free parking. Pros and Cons... The bread, by far, steals the show. It's fresh, airy, chewy, has a delicious chewy crust. Thirsty? Do NOT drink the tap water, water with ice, water with lemon. It tastes like it came straight out of a 1950s lead pipe. And it probably did. Lol. The Taste is just terrible. Which means now you have another good excuse to come during happy hour, and order an actual beverage. Ceviche was good. If they add a drop of oil, some cilantro, maybe a pinch more salt, it would be great. The portion size is okay, probably about 8 oz of ceviche, planted over about 12 oz of lettuce/salad. There's a lot of salad underneath that you don't realize until you start digging in. Steamed Clams were a bit rubbery. Overcooked by like 2 minutes too long. The butter sauce served on the side needed salt though. Ironic, since usually most places are over salted. Lol. But you can always pour some salt to your liking I guess. Steamed Mussels... they are large and fresh. You can definitely taste the freshness. I prefer the Mussels over The Clams. Atmosphere... HUMID inside the bar area. I would say the outside temperature was probably 75. There was a slight breeze going on the outside patio. The minute you stepped inside though, it felt like you were walking into a mild sauna. Hot and steamy for sure. What saved us was sitting on a corner booth, right in front of a huge Industrial fan. So pick and choose your agenda. If you want a temperate environment, sit outside, but you won't be able to get the happy hour. If you sit inside, you get happy hour pricing, but you do have to suffer through a little bit of humidity. Service... one of the downsides unfortunately. So we were seated, Hostess didn't even ask us if she could take our drink order or anything. What irks me the most was that I saw two tables that were wide open on the outside patio. But the hostess insisted on seating us inside, saying that the two tables outside were reserved. After the hostess sat us down, it was at least 10 or 15 minutes before either one of those parties at the two outside tables showed up. I call b*******. I think the hostess should have set us outside, and made the other two tables wait when they showed up. So... sitting in a booth meant for 6 people. We were only 2. Hello? Talk about a waste of seating space. Oh, our waitress took about 5-6 minutes to come over, to take our order. Then it was like another 20 minutes of us just sitting there. The place was not busy at all. Please keep that in mind. I can understand if this place was swamped or something. But there were a lot of Empty Tables around us, and also a lot of empty seats at the bar. Food finally got delivered, but then no recheck by the service staff to see if we were doing okay. Whatever. One thing that got me was that I was seeing other waiters and waitresses walking around us, and not one of them bothered to check in. I was actually able to flag down a different waitress who added to our tab with another food item. After about 8 to 10 more minutes, our last dish came out. Then about another 10 minutes went by before our original waitress came by to check on us. Then she checked on us one more time about 5 minutes after that. A little too late if you asked me. My thought here is that she took our order, and then went on a break, but didn't bother to tell another server/waiter to check on us. Whatever. Would I come back here again? Probably, if I was in the area, on a date, with some people visiting from out of town maybe. *** One thing for sure though, I would definitely sit at the bar, because the service Sitting AT the Bar is way better, and I would only come during the happy hour time frame Monday through friday, 3:00 to 6:30. ***

I had cioppino for starter and it was soooo good!! There was plenty of seafood in it and it was flavorful. With provided bread, I got full and couldn’t eat other things.

we tried the beer buttered shrimps and they were amazing but we expected a bit more than 6 shrimps on a lettuce leaf. View is great and you can refill your drink with plenty different soft drinks so that's cool

Went 3 times prior to this & this is just not good Tonight my halibut was smelling fishy, not good. Got another piece it's frozen fish and they lie. Been a Chef 20 years Top Chef 2014. After I paid my bill; I had to go to Jack in the box to eat something before I went home.. that's not a good sign.. On the water & can't produce fresh fish, makes no sense to me

Put it simply: great place for friends and family. I love the clam chowder. My niece enjoyed their bean burger. I had a small issue with service (they lost my first reservation and I had to wait again to get in).

This place is amazing, I've been here several times and it is finally time to leave a review. The reason we came here was because of our immense disappointment in the place next door (Andreas Seafood). That place was so bad that it almost ruined seafood for me. However, we decided to give this place a shot, and boy an I glad I did. I've tried their sea bass, swordfish, and salmon, and all if it has been impeccable. The food is always juicy and flavorful, the staff is amazing, and the ambiance is beautiful. I highly recommend eating outside with a beautiful view of the harbor, Ventura, and if the Tops Topa mountains. I will definitely be a semi-regular here!

Great bar view of the harbor. Food came faster than expected. Bartender was great to me and to everyone around. And as everyone has already said, really great chowder!

This restaurant was a recommendation from a business associate of my husband. We decided to take a drive and check it out, it did not disappoint. I had the Bass and my husband had the seafood pasta, along with New England Clam Chowder. Let me not forget to mention the delicious starter, Oysters Rockefeller 😋. Our waiter Rork was friendly too.

My husband and I split a dish. When you allow them to split it, there is a $9 upcharge but you both get a starter (soup or salad) and full sides so in my opinion it's worth it. We had the salmon, it was very well cooked not over done or dry. We scored a window seat so the view was amazing.

Came here on a Tuesday night with my partner for a quick meal. The place was doing good business but wasn't packed. I sat outside under the heaters and ordered their fish sandwich with fries. The sandwich was hood and the fries were great. I also picked up a pilsner on tap. I would recommend this spot as a nice place to grab a beer, sandwich, and sit at the bar for a game.

The location and balcony view was outstanding. I ordered Rocke feller oysters and sea food pasta which came with house salad or clam chowder soup. clam chowder soup was amazing, the oysters was good but the pasta wasn’t my favorite. Because I think it can be depend on my taste I only take one star for that. It wasn’t cheap but I really liked the view. Worth it!

We sat on the balcony, and had a great time! I tried the Brophy Burger (it was listed as a local favorite) and it was outstanding! The shrimp cocktail tasted great! I really enjoyed their cocktail sauce. The service was warm and friendly. Thanks, and we will be back!

We are travel advisors @The Travel Addix, we travel and taste food for a living. Can we just say the food and the service were incredible!! The baked garlic clams were amazing and the Cioppino was off the charts!! We actually ate at the bar and our bartender/server asked if we would like to have him add fresh garlic, chili oil and fresh parmesan...and of course....we said yes!!! I would definitely recommend having it that way if you can handle a little spice, and it really wasn't overpowering. It 100% complimented the seafood. A M A Z I N G! We will definitely be back!!

Good bar food and an excellent location. Nice casual I'm beyond and a good service. If you go in there to hang out awesome place not anything Michelin star but the ambience on the water is worth it.

We were seated quickly by friendly hostess. Service was good. View of the harbor was what we came for. I was not impressed with the shrimp and scampi pasta dish. And the bloody Mary was beyond spicy. Undrinkable in my opinion. The bowl of clam chowder was on point. Could have ate a bucket of that stuff.

One of the major reasons why we keep going back to Ventura Harbor is the pleasure of dining here. Streams of diners all nodding in approval as we start with our clam chowder, bits of fresh clams in a medium thick broth, fish n chips bartered exquisitely and the view was a thrill. Friendly family oriented atmosphere never fails!

Okay, so waiting on a weekend almost 30 Minutes is really not bad, seeing that they do not do reservations. The restaurant was clean and the staff extremely friendly. So why the three star? I had to use ketchup to warm up the fries. The were not as warm as the ketchup. I ordered the scampi. It was half cooked and also cold. My wife had the grilled Salmon. It was over cooked and dry. My daughter went with the Tuna...might as well have ordered Sushi. About the only thing that was top was my grandsons Burger. This was my first time and my last time at this location.

We really like Brophy Brothers at the Ventura Harbor. The food is fresh and the service always on point. I tend to order seafood here, because it's so good. On this visit I ordered the shrimp scampi and it was excellent. The sides are also really well done, for example salad, coleslaw, fries, grilled veggies, etc. Pricing seems pretty typical for this type of restaurant. It's also relaxing to sit on the enclosed patio and watch the harbor life, the boats and the beauty of it all.

So so good! Less than a five minute wait to be seated for lunch. ( we called ahead and put our name on the list)We had clam chowder, calamari, scallops, fish , clams, rice, fries, and bread . Service was awesome. You do however need to be able to walk up 25 steps to get to the restaurant. Such a great place though. Really cool view too.

I asked several locals about where to get the best seafood in town and the ubiquitous answer was Brophy's. The drink menu offers a few cocktails and there are a few local beers on tap. The bar is perfect for a pre-dinner drink or just to relax. If you're eating a meal here, however, grab a table on the patio overlooking the harbor. Call ahead to make reservations if possible. It fills up quickly at dinner time! Best oysters I've ever enjoyed. The ceviche, too. If you don't have time to linger, grab a quick bite at the sister restaurant downstairs. Bathrooms are binary stalls.

My friend Renee and I tried Brophy for the first time, and Im certainly glad that we did! The food was delicious, and the portions were very generous. Add to that the good variety on the menu along with the marina view, and you can't go wrong. The fish entrées we had were swordfish and sea bass, both of which we loved. Each entrée came with a cup of clam chowder and two sides. I'll be you that the great majority of patrons ask for a doggie bag. The service was wonderful, I wish I had gotten her name. We will definitely return and bring more friends!

The food isn't bad, I wouldn't say it's the most amazing seafood. Service, however, was excellent and all the wait staff was great. Atmosphere I rated 4/5 because if you don't sit outside on the desk overlooking the water, it's nothing special either. It's a good staple where you know what type of food you're going to get and the quality will be decent.

Enjoyable place just by the Ventura Harbor. Food and service was good, but be warned to get there before the sunset to get a good view. It got crowded as the sun went down on a Wednesday. I recommend a visit, you will certainly enjoy the experience.

Came here at the recommendation of some locals while I was in town for business. This is a great place with a good ambiance, service, and great food! I had the oysters and shrimp cocktail for appetizers and the seabass for the entree. All were very good, and the seabass was perfectly cooked! I highly recommend Brophy Bros. if you're ever in Ventura.

Wonderful seaside restaurant with great atmosphere, great service, and superb fish & chips. Great views of the harbor. My first visit there, but certainly won't be my last. Highly recommended. Second visit: superb food once again. Location is scenic and beautiful.

Ate lunch yesterday for the first time while visiting Ventura Harbor and boating. This was recommended by locals and it was on second floor with beautiful harbor view. We didn’t want to wait for a table with ocean view so we were seated right away. The staff was nice. It was casual dining with reasonably priced menu items. We enjoyed our lunch.

This place was very crowded when we came in, and we had to wait for a very long time, so its better to make a reservation. The food is mediocre, and it takes quite a while to prepare. All employees are super fake friendly. Our experience was okay, but far from best.

Very good food and worth the price. You couldn't even find any potatoes in the clam chowder there was so much seafood.

  • 5/5 Vincent B. 2 years ago on Google
The clam chowder was delicious. I need to go back when I'm more hungry. This was more of a research and development expedition. The view is great and the staff was extremely friendly.

  • 5/5 Kimmee H. 2 years ago on Google
The clam chowder was like no other I've ever had I asked them to put crab on top and I got a huge portion of crab my husband ordered the crab cakes and there was no filling in it hardly just all crab. Very good food and worth the price. You couldn't even find any potatoes in the clam chowder there was so much seafood. Will definitely go back there again and again love it the only one thing I can say is you better like music because it's very loud as far as the music goes in there. I like to enjoy my meals a little more quieter so I shall I say peaceful. Oh and I forgot one more thing the crab cakes came with a lobster cream sauce that was to die for very good
