I did the Gaudí walking tour. We saw Palau Güell, Casa Batlló, Casa Milà/La Pedrera and Sagrada Família. There are more Gaudi things to see but this is an excellent introduction to Gaudí. Miguel was the guide and he was brilliant. I also did the official Sagrada Família tour and the things Miguel told us were far more interesting than the official tour!!! I highly recommend this tour and I’m sure the other tours they offer are just as good!!!

I can’t shower enough accolade when it comes to this tour group. We were fortunate enough to have Ann-Marie, Lisa and Gemma take us on our past tours. They were all so knowledgeable and were able to gauge our interests and pace quickly to make sure our limited time in Barcelona was spent well. From booking on, they took great care of us. They have varied tour offerings that cater to all interests. They also offer several free group tours, that is how much they love what they do! The guides were happy to provide excellent suggestions for places to dine and visit after the tours as well. With all that said, they will forever be remembered by my family as some of the kindest and most compassionate people we have encountered while traveling. My father fell while walking on the tour. He lost a battle with the sidewalk curb. It was a bad spill and he was pretty injured. Lisa, who was our guide at the time, was amazing. She stayed with us for quite some time, obviously concerned, willing to do anything to help. All of our guides then checked in with us the next day to make sure my dad was feeling better. Incidentally, every single person who passed by offered help. Someone fetched a doctor, another person brought towels, a folding chair appeared out of nowhere, truck drivers left their vehicles to help. We will never forget the good people of Barcelona. For all of the vibrancy and beauty in that city, it will be most fondly remembered by us because of the special people who live there.

(Translated by Google) Highly recommended also for families with children. Very friendly and positive guide. The guide has answered all questions and told us a lot. The story was super fun and addictive, which is why I would like to do another tour !;) :) (Original) Een echte aanrader ook voor gezinnen met kindjes. Heel vriendelijke en positief gids. De gids heeft ons alle vragen beantwoordt en veel verteld. Het verhaal was super leuk en verslavend, daarom zou ik graag nog zo een tour willen doen!;):)

A simply perfect start to our trip. I recommend wholeheartedly! Jarrod our tour guide was absolutely fantastic! His enthusiasm and love for the city was infectious and he did a marvellous job of talking us through the history and culture of Barcelona. He was full of practical tips and advice and went out of his way to accommodate us. I use a wheelchair - the tour was wheelchair accessible (we stopped for a break half way through and there is a starbucks that has an accessible toilet!)

We had a great time on our tour. Shira was very knowledgeable, kind and entertaining! We saw so much of Barcelona that we would not have discovered without her and we are very grateful. Now that we have done your Gothic quarter tour, we will definitely be booking the Gaudi tour for our next visit. Highly recommend as a way of exploring a new city!

We had a wonderful tour of the Gothic Quarter with Albert today. Albert is a native to Barcelona and a history major. He provided us with an amazing amount of history in a very interesting and often amusing manner. I would highly recommend this tour. Very well organized from the time I booked it until the last minute with Albert. Be also have us some restaurant suggestions for lunch which we used. Delicious tapas at Tapeo! Thank you Albert for a fabulous day!

Absolutely wonderful tour and would highly recommend to anyone. Our guide Tatty told us so much about not only Gaudi (that’s the tour we took) but also the history of Barcelona and other architecture there, as well as practical tips when it came to the subway. She was incredibly knowledgeable and took a good amount of time for pictures etc… we never felt rushed and had a wonderful tour. Would definitely use again for a different tour.

We did the Gothic Tour one day and the Gaudi tour the next. We had Jarrod as our Gaudi Guide. He was great! Super personality and he was conscious of telling us the fun tidbits so that we learn a few things but without going crazy with the facts. He also took the time to chat with us and gave us some great advice about the area. He even had a list of restaurants he personally recommends to tourists so they have a good experience. We definitely recommend this tour. We had Shira for the Gothic tour. She was fantastic. Very personable and gave us a lot of great info while winding us through the narrow streets.

We joined the family guided tour through the Gothic Quarters with our 10 yr old. Lisa is a fantastic guide, excellent storytelling that was captivating for all ages and with a big heart for Barcelona and Catalunya which helps both big and small appreciate the history, heritage and beauty of the place. We took the tour on our first day which served as a great introduction for the next days. We also came back to some of the places we discovered on the way in the tour for eating and shopping. Lisa - warm regards from our family and thank you for hosting us!

I showed up on an earlier day for my city tour and Lisa was nice enough to let me join anyway. Her presentation was both enlightening and fun. She had personal stories and on the spot observations to share which made it feel fresh. Her diction was very easy to understand and she was pleasant to listen to. Believe me I have been on some tours where the guides had annoying pet phrases like 'alright?' 'um' etc.. that can be tiresome to listen to for 2.5 hours. Lisa took personal interest in her guests and made the effort to talk to us individually whenever possible. Her food suggestions were great. I highly recommend going on her tour!

We took a 2 1/2 hour walking tour of the Gothic quarter with Anne-Marie from Runner Bean tours. She was incredibly knowledgeable and obviously passionate about both the city where she lives and the history! Full of information and details about every site we visited and we heard so much that’s not included in any other trip. Very interactive with the group and put every single person at ease. She was an absolute mine of local information and recommendations at the end - which we personally used for meals and other sites to visit. These guys work on a donation system and be prepared to give them every euro that you feel they are worth. We took two of their tours and they were the highlight of our trip to Barcelona!!

A must do when visiting Barcelona! I enjoyed my tour of the Free Gothic Quarter with Lisa so much that I returned the following day for the Gaudi Tour. Lisa was passionate and knowledgeable about Barcelona and loved sharing this on her tours. Lisa also gave lots of tips and honest advice on how to spend the rest of my time in Barcelona. Being a walking tour, we were able to explore areas which could not be accessed by road/ bus tours and spend longer in these areas of interest. Thanks :)

Great free walking tour of the Gothic quarter (pay what you think it's worth at end). The guide was very friendly and helpful, offering extra recommendations when asked. The content of the tour was a nice mix of history, anecdotes and pretty spots. I'll try the Gaudi tour next time!

I took my granddaughter on this tour and we Loved it! So much fun for the young and old. Ann-Marie was great and really good with the young ones. Although just over 2 hours the time flew by and was not at all exhausting for the kids as there were quite a few stops and it wasn't all walking!

We did Gothic tour and it had turned the way we look the city . We highly recommend it to everyone that wants to know the basis of Catalan culture / history (with reference to many details otherwise we had ignored) and how it reflects on today Barcelona's way of life.

Wasn't expecting much from a 'free' tour but this was run very professionally and Tati our guide was excellent. A nice way to spend 2.5 hours learning about the culture and history of the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona.

Lisa was an astonishing guide with encyclopedic knowledge of Barcelona and Spain. Well spoken, funny and comfortable would only be three simple terms to describe what a joy she is. We took the tour our first morning in Barcelona - what a great set-up and introduction to this city.

Absolutely awesome trip! I am not a monuments, churches and history exited person but I swear to you Miguel will make you a new passionate. It was super interesting, fun, easy to walk, all questions answered, a lot of nice tips and recommendations. Definitely start visiting Barcelona from this one!

BEST BARCELONA FREE TOUR I did three free tours in Barcelona, with different companies but with Runner Beans I had the best experience. I did the Gaudí tour in English with Lisa but I wish I also had the time to do the Gothic quarter tour. Lisa is a delightful person and is very clear in her explanations. She pours all her passion and knowledge about the city into her job and creates a very nice atmosphere among the group members. I believe a free walking tour is the best way to start your staying in Barcelona as it gives you an idea of what you might be interested in visiting and will give you the opportunity to meet other travellers. This Runner Bean tour will make you want not to leave Barcelona :-)

I toured the buildings of Gaudi with Anne Marie today with about dozen or more others. She was an excellent tour guide! Very friendly and knowledgeable. The tour itself does not take you inside any of the buildings really, but the guide gave us some excellent info should we chose to return to any of the buildings which was super helpful (and I will definitely follow one of the tips she provided!). The visuals she carried with her to show us various pictures was nice for some extra context, too. Highly recommend this, and bring cash to tip!

Lisa did an absolutely INCREDIBLE job with our Gothic tour, and clearly has a passion for the incredibly complex history of Cataluña!!!! 10/10 highly recommend.

We were unsure what to do when Runner Beans Tours says "Pay at the end what you think it's worth." But Albert was very knowledgeable about everything we saw, and from a Catalan perspective. He spoke excellent English, and was a historian, which meant he could tell us a lot more than most. We paid willingly at the end. We still didn't know how much was appropriate, but we think we were generous enough. I would recommend this tour, and tour guide, to anyone.

I did the Gaudi tour this morning. Our tour guide was Lisa who is absolutely amazing! She is personable, knowledgeable and passionate about the topic i.e. Gaudi and his architecture! I thoroughly enjoyed the tour and would recommend it to anyone visiting Barcelona!

Miguel is a fantastic tour guide. We accidentally booked “the original Gothic Barcelona walking tour” that no longer operates, but he kindly took us on as there were open spots as the company we booked incorrectly guided us to this tour. The tour was easy to follow as Miguel gave very detailed descriptions of the history behind the buildings we see and the quirky nature of Catalonia culture.

Arrived in Barcelona and hit the ground running. We joined Miguel on the Gothic Quarter Tour and found it to be very informative. It’s a great welcome to the city and really helps with orientation. Miguel’s passion and enthusiasm is evident in every detail shared. We really appreciated the local tips for beaches, coffee and dining spots.

We had a wonderful tour with Miguel today! We was very knowledgeable and kept our whole family entertained all day long. We learned so much and got so much more out of every site we visited than we ever could have on our own. Highly recommend this great tour and tour guide!

We took two tours with Runner Bean Tours - one of the Gothic Quarter and the Gaudi tour. Both with Albert (in the photo), a young historian who is local and very knowledgeable. We enjoyed hearing about the old (and updated) buildings, the history behind the places and much more. Highly recommend!

Lisa the tour host was very lovely and made us all feel at home. She was extremely knowledgeable about not only Gaudi but also the city in general. She speaks good Catalan and Spanish and we felt very safe with her. The tour was just the right length and was interesting and worthwhile. I would definitely recommend Runner Bean tours and in fact we are planning to do the Gothic tour on Tuesday. 😀

Miguel was our guide for the day. The 2.5h Gothic Quarter tour didn’t even feel that long because we were conversing about a whole range of topics about Spain. Miguel is super passionate and knowledgeable about the history of Barcelona - we enjoyed the tour so much!

  • 5/5 Natasha S. 1 year ago on Google
Extremely Professional and well conducted Tour . Our Guide Alberto was extremely knowledgeable and insightful. Even though I was with a child of 10 years of age he engaged with her and kept her engrossed and attentive to all the information about Gaudi. We really enjoyed the tour with him and did not know how quickly the 2.5 hrs passed. We are looking forward to the next tour with Runner Bean today the Gothic Quarters . Definitely when in Barcelona this is the company to look up .

We just finished a tour of the Gothic old part of the city with Jarrod and what a great way to get to know the city. Jarrod was super nice and knowledgeable, kept great pace and made sure to find spots for us to sit and keep in the shade. He was also very generous with recommendations of places to see, eat and how to get around. Two and a half hours flew by quickly and we got to see so many interesting spots. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to explore Barcelona. :)

We did the gothic history tour with Lisa, and she was amazing! She explained the history very well and in an engaging way, despite having to condense 2000 years of history in 2.5 hours. We also really loved how she gave us so many recommendations for places to visit and eat outside of the tour route. Would recommend to anyone looking to learn more about Catalonia!

  • 5/5 Sam Z. 2 years ago on Google
My friend and I joined the Gaudí walking tour. Our guide Lisa was very knowledgeable and engaged the entire time. I was impressed with how much information she was able to fit in to our time together. She did a great job of explaining things to someone like me who knows very little about architecture and visual art. I’d highly recommend this tour to anyone!

  • 5/5 Natalie B. 2 years ago on Google
Lisa was spectacular. She was very knowledgeable, kind and she went at a great pace. She gave us so much information that helped us understand the history of Catalonia but she went further to help us connect to the culture of Catalonia today. Lisa took the time to answer questions and gave us great tips to make the most of our trip. She also has great recommendations for restaurants, places to see and how to get around. The tour was great and Lisa was really terrific.

Very informative tours-- I'm surprised at how much they were able to show us in such a small area! Jarrod was a really friendly guide and had a lot of knowledge to share with us. We did both of the Free Walking Tours (Gothic an Gaudí) with Miguel and enjoyed them very much. The groups are pretty small and it feels really personal. For us as students these tours were the ideal possibility to get to know more about the city without having to break the holiday budget as you can give as much as you want or whatever little you can afford. We also got some more great tips on how to save money by visiting other attractions for free as well as good places to eat. I would definitely recommend Runner Bean Tours to anyone visiting Barcelona!

FIVE STARS PLUS. My wife and I spent 3 months in Barcelona in 2018 - September through November- and had the best time ever. We came across Runner Bean Tours by accident and went on our first walking tour the second morning we were in town. It was magnificent to say the least. Learned so much about Gaudi and the City; couldn’t wait for the next day to join the Gothic tour. That was spectacular as well. In addition to educating us on the City, Runner Bean served as an outlet for babysitting when we had visitors and we could direct them on what to do without our presence. We sent four sets of friends on tours and all were grateful. Additionally, we took the same tours multiple times and learned something new every time. Our guides were thoroughly knowledgeable and more importantly personable and approachable, and were a great source of recommendations for other sights, venues, and restaurants (including recommending the graffiti tour) We will be forever grateful to Miguel, Anna, Jarrod, Jase, and a few others whose names I do not recall. One other benefit, Runner Bean has recommended other walking tour operators in other cities for us to try during our foreign travels. My wife and I are huge fans and so very, very appreciative of having met Runner Bean. And it’s fun now, staying in touch through FB and being able to comment and recommend places we came across that we believe would be of mutual interest in beautiful Barcelona.

We read about this tour company in various blogs, posts, and guidebooks and they are truly amazing. Since we were in Barcelona out of season for the kids tours, we chose free walking tour of Barri Gotic. It was great. Our guide, Allie, was knowledgeable, fun, and engaging and provided tons of historical and current information along with helpful recommendations. Our younger one even said that he now will like history. So thank you Allie. Highly recommend.

Our Guide Ali was fabulous who took us back in time!!! We attended this tour first thing, coming from SF to Barcelona after taking 16 hour flight. Our entire group enjoyed every bit of details she covered in this 2 1/2 hour tour. Best part neither my kids nor us dozed off in the middle of it !!!! Kids were engaged in a fun way the whole time. I will highly recommend for all age groups.

My friend and I did the Gothic Quarter Tour with Albert as our guide. I love being shown around by a local they take you to so many interesting little places and give you context and back story that you just would not get wondering around on your own. We were with a group of around 20 people from all over the world. The tour lasted 2.5 hrs and covered 3km. It was a leisurely pace with around 8 stops and a 10 min coffee break in the sunshine. You donate at the end of the tour based on what you want to give/what you think it is worth. We loved every minute of it. I am just sad that we didn't have time to do the Gaudi Tour during our visit too!

  • 5/5 Rachel W. 4 years ago on Google
Our guide, Albert, was not only immensely knowledgeable, he made the tour an interactive one, engaging us with interesting questions and providing lots of visual aides. He was extremely informative without being boring for even a second. He pointed out so many interesting sites and provided so many interesting facts which would have been overlooked had we not been the beneficiaries of his vast knowledge. Thank you for a very memorable tour!

My friends and I went on the dark past night tour, and being such history nerds, it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. We had a friend recovering from knee surgery and the walking pace was perfect. Nothing strenuous at all . Our guide Alexandra was super friendly, easy to understand, and incredibly knowledgeable and entertaining. Communication with booking the tour, paying for it, and locating our guide was straightforward. Especially because I booked it right around Christmas on a whim. My friends and I are already talking about another trip to Barcelona and we would do another tour with Runner Bean in a heartbeat!!

A very interesting tour! There was lots to see and learn. Our guide Jarrod was knowledgeable about the gothic architecture and history. He was not only fun but also caring of special needs of the group. I liked that he encouraged us to take lots of pictures. He was genuinely interested to make sure we got the most out of the experience. Well worth it!

Our family scheduled 3 private tours with Runner Bean - and we could not have been happier! After sharing the specific details of our vacation preferences, Gorka and his staff kindly took care of the rest. No tickets to buy, no waiting in line…just show up and enjoy the day! Each experienced guide was very knowledgeable and skilled at relating this information in a fun manner that even our teenagers loved it. Prices were very fair and our time together was memorable. We met as tourists and feel like we departed as friends. Thanks to Ann Marie, Laura and Gemma for helping our family make life long memories rather than just traveling experiences. A solid 10! Will scheduled again next time we are in Barcelona.

The Gothic Tour was fun, informative and well worth it. 2.5 hours sounds long but it really flies by and better to add some interesting context to the beautiful architecture where you’ll be roaming anyway. We’re not usually for tours and esp. group tours but very happy we tried this one. Jarrod was an awesome tour guide and went out of his way to provide some personal restaurant recommendations in nearby neighborhoods, in addition to a list of his faves that he allowed guests to snap a photo of. Tip your guide well!!!

I took the Gaudi walking tour with Runner Bean Tours. They were well-organized, clear about what to expect on the tour, and very knowledgeable. We got to see most of the famous Gaudi buildings, and seeing them was much better with a guide who could tell you the history and architectural details. My guide, Jarrod, was great, and I'd highly recommend this tour with him.

I just took a second tour with this company (Runner Bean Tours) and enjoyed it as much as the first one. Seems like they know how to pick their tour guides? Jarrod, our guide, was very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. The tour lasted two and a half hours, but wasn't hard or difficult in any way. My company doesn't like walking, yet didn't moan... We enjoyed it, hope you will as well.

It was a great Barcelona Gaudi tour, thank Ana to show all main Gaudi created buildings. I'd like to recommend it to all Barcelona visitors.

I would recommend Runner Bean’s Gaudi tour to anyone, even if you’ve visited Barcelona before. We did the tour before we visited Park Güell and Sagrada Familia - on our first day in Barcelona - and it was really helpful to understand what you were seeing and what influenced the work. Anna, our tour guide, was absolutely amazing! She showed us around the city, the incredible architecture, and even gave us some recommendations for other things. Unlike other tours I’ve been on I didn’t ever feel rushed or bored. It’s about two and a half hours and you end in front of the majestic Sagrada Familia. Both my mom and I agreed it wasn’t too much walking and definitely worth it. Will recommend to all of my friends visiting Florence.

Great Gothic tour with Lisa. Highly recommend this company and ask for Lisa. She was insightful, fun and gave us a great recommendation for food- Bodega La Puntual (some of the best food we had!)

My friends and I decided to use Runner Beans Free Walking tour of Gothic Quarter. We chose Runner Bean Tours because the they guaranteed that it won't go beyond 20 people in a group. True enough. Tour guide Miguel was very clear with his explanations and carried some helpful visual aids for us to understand with better clarity. This is my 4th Free Walking tour experience to-date in my several travels and I must say that this ranked one of my best walking tour so far. Miguel was professional. He was kept his own personal opinions to himself and if asked about his views, he gave a balanced answer. With a walking tour, we get a better appreciation of the places we visited. Highly recommended for anyone who is curious and willing to walk a little.

I can't say enough lovely things about this company and Miguel, one of the guides. The booking is so easy and all of the information on their website is thorough and helpful. I took the Gothic tour and the Gaudi tour and learned a lot of really great history. The tour times are accurate and small enough that I didn't feel like we were rushed or too crowded. Definitely take a few hours and join these tours!

We had an excellent Gothic Quarter Tour by Albert. He shares very interesting historic tidbits around the Gothic Quarter, while giving a broader context of Catalunyan and Spanish history. The walk itself is not long as a lot of the interesting places are close by.
