Ramon is an extremely knowledgeable, welcoming, and accommodating tour guide. He brought the Montserrat hike to life with knowledge of not only the monastery itself, but also the animal and plant life and even the geology that formed the spectacular landscape around it. It made us wish that Ramon could take us on every hike! The hike itself is not too difficult and we moved at a comfortable pace with breaks to enjoy Catalonian snacks that Ramon provided.

We recently had the pleasure of hiking up and around Montserrat with Ramon. Passionate about the region, nature, and our connection with it: a more spiritual guide you could not find. When we got to the summit, no words were needed as we sat quietly and watched the clouds rolling to reveal the beauty of what lay beneath as we ate the traditional snacks that Ramon provided. He was sensitive to our wishes of watching the Montserrat Boy's Choir perform, a mission that my mother had wanted me to see for her, and arranged the tickets for us, getting us back in time, being able to watch the afternoon performance was nothing short of a very emotional moment for me. I cannot recommend Catalan Trails highly enough.

Cristian is passionate about the outdoors and knowledgeable about Montserrat. He set a hiking pace that worked for everyone in our group and made sure by the end of the trip we didn't leave as strangers. Highly recommend this experience if you're coming to Barcelona - the views are worth it at the top!

Ramon was an unbelievable host for the hike and not only did he share us the history, the stories and the details about Montserrat, but gave us tips for the remainder of our Spain trip. We can feel that he was experienced but also passionnate about the areas. The hike was amazing and allowed us to see stunning views of the monastery and the mountain. Ramon is a fantastic hiking guide. He showed us Montserrat and the nature park surrounding it. The hike was hard enough to get your heart rate up but not too hard to complete. Each point he stopped at along the route was an epic view with an equally interesting story. He grew up in this area and has a deep knowledge of the nature and history.

He shared fascinating stories about the area's past and pointed out unique features of the landscape that we never would have noticed on our own. His passion for the area was infectious, and it really added to the overall enjoyment of the hike. Overall, I would highly recommend this Montserrat hike to anyone who loves the outdoors and wants to learn more about this beautiful corner of the world.

Highly recommend. Montserrat was really beautiful. Christian was a great guide and had a lot of knowledge about history and nature. Good to have someone like that on the hike to the historical Montserrrat. Recommending using a guide instead of going by yourself if you want to learn a little, both about history and nature. If going to Montserrat is just for the view, it can also be done on your own using the train from Barcelona. We where a group of 8, mostly unknown couple from all over the world. Unfortunately the trip was shortened by one person in the group that was slowing us down. From our point of view it would be better leave that person behind and have 1 unsatisfied client than to have 7 that felt they did not get the trip (the walking part) they where told to get.

Our favorite experience while visiting Barcelona. Ramon was an amazing & knowledgeable guide who kept everyone engaged & entertained. The hike around Montserrat and within the monastery was was absolutely beautiful and Ramon provided context about the history, scenery, geology, you name it. Would not hesitate going on another hike with him and would recommend this experience to anyone and everyone.

Cristian was an amazing guide. Not only did he bring us through the various places we're to go to safely, he took time to explain along the way certain historical aspects of the location, the wild herbs that are used for cooking (or Gin 🙂), he is also a very very approachable person who answers any questions that you may have, in detail, without shying away or giving one word replies. If you want a magical hike and views out of this world (we were fairly lucky with the weather though), you have to try this.

This is my 2nd trip with Catalan Trails. Exceptional!!! I went to Garroxta with Ramon in 2018 and Rupit with Cristian last week. Both were by far my favorite tours in Spain. Mix of nature and medieval villages. Off the beaten path.

Wonderful experience!! Ramon is an incredible guide, very knowledgeable and pleasant! The hike is a bit challenging in the beginning, but Ramon was an ever considerate host and took plenty of rest stops. I most definitely recommend this hike and experience. It's truly special.

Christian was an incredible guide on our hike at Monserrat. He arrived on time and was very accommodating for our groups abilities. Arriving early before the crowds was the best part, no one was around to be in the way of photos. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the monastery and the mountains. He had a great sense of humor and was easy to get along with. I wish we had more time in Barcelona to do more hiking trips with him!

This was a great experience and I definitely recommend! Our Catalan Trails tour was to Montserrat. We went on a hike and visited the monastery and nearby shops. Our guide Christian was very knowledgeable and shared information in a way that was very entertaining and engaging. We felt we got a more in depth experience than some of the other tours we saw. This was a real hike, so expect to get a up close and personal experience in the mountains and also to walk on the clouds!

These guys are such nice guides and can tell you everything about Montserrat! You get a greater appreciation for the place, the nature, geology and flora & fauna. You leave with a very rich experience. Big recommendation!!

What an amazing day out with Ramon at Montserrat. Ramon is an excellent guide, incredibly knowledgable, passionate and environmentally conscious. Not only did Ramon give an excellent tour of Monserrat and the surrounding mountainous area, but he picked up every piece of litter he found along the way!!! Snowshoeing in the Pyrenees was an amazing experience, thanks to Ramon who is a professional mountain guide with a passion to preserve nature and loves to share his passion with others. It was the first time for us and we really enjoyed it, 3 hours of snowshoeing passed quickly whilst learning a lot about Catalunia, plus the views were amazing. It was nice to escape for a day from crowded Barcelona and enjoy nature and the tranquility of the area. Highly recommend.
