As a former Cajun restaurant owner 4 stars is high praise indeed. There are 2 minor reasons that I deducted a star. First they were "out" of an item, which coincidentally was the item I came there to try, the seafood gumbo. How it can happen that they are out of the item thats part of the restaurant name is a big oopsy. Second, I feel like given the portion size, it's slightly overpriced. I left still hungry. So 4 stars instead of 5. That having been said, if you are more flavor conscious than price, check them out. The items I had were absolutely delicious. There is one more thing I think they do wrong. I deducted nothing for this because in hindsight I believe I made the same error when I had my place. I did not trust the Tennessee diner to enjoy Cajun food in its authenticity so I dumbed down the heat. I do not feel that Voodo has dumbed down the other spices because it is very flavorful! However, if I were to do it again, given the rise and embracing of "Nashville Hot Chicken," which this former New Orleanean would say is damn near intolerable, up the cayenne. Nashville has proven they can take it and they want it. All in all, I would be surprised if anyone could leave Voodoo feeling they had a bad experience. Highly recommended.

The only time I have had better gumbo is when my husband cooks it. Delicious food with a phenomenal staff. Definitely a fabulous place to get some incredibly good gumbo, desserts, and drinks.

I absolutely love this place. The gumbo here is amazing. It may have gumbo in the name, but it should be noted that they have a wide menu of Cajun classics and they are all good as far as I have tried so far. I have not had a dish there that I was not completely blown away by the authenticity of. Besides the food though, they have an amazing staff that is always kind and seem to go out of their way to make sure that I'm enjoying the food and the experience as a whole. The place is very clean and well taken care of. I would recommend this place to anyone who is a fan of Cajun food or just wants a little taste of New Orleans. The only thing to keep in mind about this place is that they are closed on Mondays. Everybody needs a day off though right? If you haven't checked this place out I very much recommend that you do.

Voodoo gumbo is the main reason we go but it's a great plaza with lots of options.
