While Selina's amenities are impressive, the rooms here are sub-par. We booked a private room without a bathroom, and it was uncomfortably tiny, making it challenging for two adults to change. The lack of ventilation and only a couple of small fans made the room stuffy. The steep price didn't seem justified, given the misleading pictures that failed to convey the cramped and sauna-like conditions. On a positive note, the staff was friendly, the food decent, and the common areas enjoyable. It's not a particularly social hostel, and there might be better or more affordable options in the area.

Location is excellent! The team is also very nice and professional, they make you feel at home. I was impressed how they looked me up after I had a disappointing experience in Panajachel - Lake Atitlan and reached out at the hostel. Because of this as an apology they upgraded me to the Suite for my stay in Antigua. That was very nice and appreciative of loyal Selina customers. The salsa classes were so much fun! The cinema room with free popcorn was so cool! Definitely worth staying there.

Imposible to rest, go there if you only want to party and not to sleep. At the beginning it seemed very beautiful, but then we saw that we had a loud speaker next to our room that was playing all day long until 10pm (away from the bar, the pool and the hammocks). The bar had a good party with loud music, which would be great if they hadn't all the doors wide open, it was impossible to rest before 10pm due to the music, after that there were other reasons... The bar has no bathroom inside, so people have to use those next to the rooms, that meaning a non-stop flow of drunk people talking loud or screaming, even after 10pm. I complained twice to the guy on the reception but he didn't hesitate with my comments, he just told me that they were young people that snitched into the hotel...so security wasn't good either. The bathrooms weren't specially clean, totally understandable if there is a constant flow of drunk people. Also, cool door locks with really easy passwords, I asked other guests and I was able to guess their passwords easily (kind of "1234" passwords...). I asked for a password change on my lock and they add it on top of the current one, so both worked, they're useless. The best thing that they do is give you the welcome bracelet and take money. Regarding location, is a shame to have that place in such a beautiful city with tons of culture and different food. If you want to get isolated from Guatemala, go there! Also not a place for backpackers, I washed my clothes manually and they told me that there was no place to hang the clothes, but they could do it for my if I paid. It's a scam if you're a backpacker, prices are super high compared to any place nearby regarding food, drinks, tours and the items they sell. If you happen to stay here, please use it only to sleep (if you can). The best thing of the place, the cleaning staff, they were really lovely and helpful 🙏

While the location is pretty cool, the hostel itself is just okay. Rooms are small and cramped, bathrooms def not great either. The common areas are quite enjoyable, although the music is extremely loud, so if you are looking somewhere relaxing do not stay here..

Great hostel in the centre of Antigua. The rooms are functional and clean with very comfortable bedding, the facilities are great (nice bar, yoga classes, swimming pool etc) and the staff is friendly. The garden is absolutely amazing with many hammocks, benches and areas to sit and relax under the shade of the trees.

I stayed for 2 nights in a private standard room. The room was nice. Small but tastefully decorated. The bathroom on the other hand was so so. For the cost of the room and how the hotel is decorated in other areas, my suggestion would be to upgrade the bathroom. My room was on the top floor and I’m not sure if that affected the water but I never truly got hot water during my stay. The rest of the place is great. I enjoyed the food and the staff were really friendly and helpful. I wanted a social environment and it was nice for that. It wasn’t too busy which was nice as well. The location was at one end of the city. It was pretty quiet at night too.

I booked to stay in Selina Antigua for 4 nights in a 12 bed mixed dorm with my boyfriend. I was excited because I had heard good reviews about the Selina Hostels, however was so disappointed on checking in. While the common areas are lovely and well kept, unfortunately the dorm and bathroom we were allocated were disgusting. The dorm had no window and smelled terrible, there were remnants of belongings of previous guests all over the floor (it's clear the floor isn't swept or mopped) and the sheets and curtains were stained. There was an extremely loud air conditioning unit circulating stale air. It was difficult to sleep in this room. On top of this the shared bathrooms were very dirty and clear they were not cleaned regularly. It was clear that the sinks are NEVER cleaned as well as the floors and shower areas. The toilets were clean enough but the rest of the bathroom area was filthy! I only stayed one night and booked into a lovely BnB for the rest of the stay. Selina is an expensive hostel and I was so excited to use the common areas but this was completely tainted by the lack of general hygiene in the sleeping and bathroom area. For the money you pay it is not worth it in my opinion! Had they put as much attention into the cleanliness of the dorms and bathrooms as they do into manicuring the garden area I would have loved the place. Incredibly disappointing.

You can count on Selina to situate their properties in the best location and Selina Antigua is no exception. It's a short walk to the famous arch and the main Street which is the most frequented walking street in all of Central America. We stayed in the deluxe private room which was wonderful. The bed was extremely comfortable and it's quiet with a balcony looking out towards the volcano. If you haven't tried Guatemala yet, I would highly recommend coming to Antigua and staying at this Selina.

Amazing place and vibe but got a big surprise at check out when the price I expected to pay was doubled. It said $44 per night for the room when booked but at check out it was almost $80 a night because of previously undisclosed taxes and fees. Really, really disappointed in that regard. Otherwise, great staff and cool place to work and hang out. We stayed on the third floor and never had hot water but the room was super clean with a great view.

We could not have asked for more from our stay at Hostel Selina in Antigua. Beautiful location and facilities: check. Great activities that allowed us to meet other travellers: check. Friendly and accommodating staff: double check. Regarding staff, Alejandra and Fabiola were incredibly helpful. They went above to make us feel welcomed and at home. We definitely recommend checking out Hostel Selina if you’re in Antigua and can’t wait to return back in the future!

I stayed at 3 hostels during my time in Antigua. Selina was by far the BEST. Tasty food - delicious FREE welcome drink Clean and exactly what you would expect from a Selina Allan was VERY helpful throughout my stay. He was kind, and took care of my booking needs, checking prices at the other Selinas, and was just overall a great help while at the hostel! Great vibes overall would come back 1000000% 😁😁😁😁

I had good experiences with the staff here at Selina Antigua! In the competitive world of hostels, it’s usually the convenience, connectedness and most importantly the people, that make the difference in a traveler’s experience. Here are some special mentions: Paulo has such amazing energy and is definitely an asset to Selina’s. He is always friendly, professional, helpful and does his best to make sure everyone is having a great time, whether someone is just getting a drink or on a bar crawl with him. Geo is literally always smiling!! He is so incredibly genuine and sincere. I feel like I have a friend in front of me whenever he is bartending. Pamela is so patient in helping me book (and rebook) tours. She even made sure to keep my phone safe when I left it behind. Thank you Pamela! Allan is also very helpful and friendly when booking my tours. Thank you everyone and I hope to see you all again when I return next to Antigua!

Such a great experience with the customer service at Selina. The front desk man (forgot the name!) helped us VERY last minute getting a tour booked. Got massages and Yesina and Nancy were so great at their job despite our language barrier. The restaurant food is good. Definitely recommend!

A superb Selina Hostel that is located just blocks from the old city center of Antigua. The private standard rooms are nice, the hostel also has a beautiful center garden, pool, workout center, and bar/restaurant that are spread out throughout the premises. Antigua was historically enlightening, safe, and filled with lots of delicious restaurants, decent bars, good clubs and lots of entertainment. I signed up for the Pacaya Volcano hike which cost around $15 for transportation and Q100 for entrance to the park. I enjoyed the hike and the logistics from the hostel was well executed. I recommend the Hostel Selina Antigua. Thanks for an amazing and memorable time!

This place made are trip. We tried booking with them and it was all booked up. They still allowed us to hold are bags there when we were stuck in transition. They helped us book activities we wanted to do and rides to place we wanted to go. We also got very good recommendations from Fabiola for food. If you need help go there. The staff is patient and helpful. I’ve I’m coming back to Antigua Again I’m starting here.

There are tiny little bugs on both bedside tables. The room is VERY humid and sticky. There is music blasting from the restaurant during work hours which makes it very hard to take work calls and meetings with a quiet background. I have stayed at other Selina locations before and didn't find it extremely loud during the day so this is unusual. Not sure how this hostel can be catered to digital nomads with the loud music blaring at 10AM on a Monday morning. There is also construction going on onsite which adds to the loud background noises. It makes my work calls very unprofessional and honestly embarrassing. As a digital nomad, I would suggest staying else where. I would honestly cancel my stay and book somewhere else if I wasn't here for such a short period of time.

Loved our stay here. The location is great in Antigua and the hostel offers lots of activities and food. They are on the more expensive side, but I love how active and social they are!

The first 2 nights we stayed at a private room with bathroom. The room was clean and we had an amazing view but it has a very small bathroom. The last night we booked a private room with shared bathroom. This is the third time I stayed at a Selina hostel and my last. It is way overpriced! You can stay at a boutique hotel in Antigua for almost the same price as a private room with shared bathroom at Selina.

Pretty disappointed with the dorms for the price. We had stayed at Barbara’s Boutique for slightly less and it was SO MUCH nicer. I woke up to the cleaning lady at work in the bathroom and when she was done one shower looked like the photo I posted and the sinks looked untouched. For how well put together the rest of the place is they could add some fresh paint in the bathroom too. Dorms are super basic, no privacy curtains like I’ve had in the 2 other dorms I stayed in in Guatemala. Beds not comfy, but no bed has been. Towel not included in their high rate. All of Antigua is expensive. If you want comfort, like I said, Barbara’s was way more worth the money. If you want a bar, large chill area and work space then Selina’s is more appropriate. One other note. The restaurant is not gluten free friendly. No gluten free buns. Fine. But but even the burger itself has gluten in it. That’s just unnecessary. In a city familiar with food sensitivities (asking for gf isn’t unusual here) and world travelers staying with them, they should be more accommodating.

While the location and the place itself are gorgeous, we were overall disappointed by Selina. The staff was not very friendly, the pool was a bit dirty and the room was very very small with no storage at all. It is a very loud place also, the music is constantly loud. It was a proper hostel vibe, not what we thought it would be based on their website. Too bad, it has a lot of potential!

I absolutely hated my stay here. This place offers no activities or recommendations for travelers. Most hostels have activities or things planned that allows you to meet other guests, this is not solo travel friendly hostel. Secondly, they play LOUD music ALL DAY and the music is so loud it’s impossible to relax. I regret staying here and I suggest you only come here if you want to leave feeling exhausted from a lack of sleep. The only pro I have for this place is that it is very clean. But that’s it.

I loved this hostel! I stayed with Selina in Greece and knew I wanted to try this location! I loved the rooms, the easy check in, and the hostel itself.

Selina hostel is in a great location, beds were comfortable and clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The WiFi is decent and the amenities are useful with a pool, makeshift gym, nice kitchen, lots of outdoor seating and a bar.

Overcharged During my recent stay in Antigua, I was expecting to be charged for ~$258 for two nights but was charged ~$334. I had moved my reservation at one point from 5/29-5/31 to 5/30-6/1 via a chat in the Selina app. At no point was it raised that my price would increase. If so, I would have canceled. I didn’t realize immediately because upon arrival I was given the price in local currency rather than USD. Given the strict rules regarding modifications/cancellations, I was also not able to cancel the second night (once I realized the pricing error). The front desk informed me that it was the “right rate” per their reservations department and directed me to them for further concerns. However, I have not been able to reach anyone. Besides the pricing issue, I would probably have given Antigua Selina a 3 and Atitlan Selina a 4 but I would never stay at or recommend Selina ever again. Companies cannot simply decide to charge you a random rate without your consent. Hopefully this is not a usual practice of theirs but given their inability to correct the error and honor the quoted rate, I wouldn’t be surprised. EDIT: I received a response asking where I booked through. I booked directly through Selina.

As always, Selina Antigua was awesome.clean ,organized and very well designed and maintained. All common areas, shared areas were kept clean . I do recommend the 14 person giant room as it has no bunk beds and gives u a lot more room and is better ventilated.

Very beautiful hostel in an amazing location, front desk staff was so nice and helped us book many things including Selina Atilan at a discount! Bar staff was very nice as well however the food wasn’t great. Common spaces are nice however the yoga equipment was very dirty. They offer filtered water which is awesome! The private rooms are very small considering the price you pay and there are no AC options.

Unfortunately due to the current political situation I had to cancel my reservation at this hostel as I chose to leave visiting Guatemala until a later date. The hostel helped book me a shuttle taxi for me from Guatemala City airport to the hostel. However, once I realised that I had to cancel my trip I contacted them twice, giving a week in advance notice for this. Each time I got absolutely no response from them at all which is very very poor considering I paid £41 for a taxi. Any reasoning for non-refundable bookings that they may make will be redundant as I have had to cancel taxis with other hostels (in Lake Atitlan) for my trip and received a quick response and cancellation. I would have been happy to have even sacrificed a cancellation fee, but received absolutely nothing. Won’t be booking with them again if I visit Antigua as they don’t care about customer service.

I love this place. People are nice and location great. There is loud music all day long, you can hear it all day from the coworking space, which for me was not super nice. Also until 23 you have music so I could sleep before 23. There is yoga, massage, swimming pool and so. Very good

Came as a solo female traveller staying in a mini room and it was karaoke night. The host from the hostel really committed and that meant everyone (even though it was a small, maybe 15-20 max group) got super into it and knew each other by the end. My room doesn't have natural light but I just found a corner in the massive outside area to work and chill. The place is beautiful, cocktails are reasonable prices... bring earplugs if you want an early night. There's music from the bar but I think also neighbouring properties.

DO NOT BOOK THE 12 DORM The worst Hostel I've ever stayed in. The 12 Dorm has no Windows and reminds you of a pig stable especially the stains on the Floor. I checked in at 3pm and already couldn't find one clean Shower. Common area is widely spread out so you will not meet many people there. Everyone went to other Hostels to meet people.

Really good location, nice hotel, room and view from the room! The bathroom is a bit old and narrow but still working. The staff is really nice but the night guard doesn’t speak English at all so it was hard to understand if we we’re waiting for a transfer fir example.

Selina is a chain of shared workspace accommodations with locations all around the world. Recommended to us by a digital nomad, these are great cheap places to stay for young people. You can get a shared or private room, rent a workspace, book transportation/ tours and they even have classes and free events. The bar inside of Selina seemed to be one of the most popular in all of Antigua.

WOW! A huge thank you to Javier! Within 30 minutes of arriving I was absolutely sold on the Selina brand and knew I made the right decision to book multiple of their locations throughout my trip. Much of this thanks to the super social and informative reception master Javier, and then doubled when I walked through the property to my room. This isn't the cheapest option but it was by no means the priciest, and the value is incredible! The location is accessible, breakfast included (not all bookings), the price point was around $25 CAD which is almost double what I have paid in some other hostels, but for the added cost - the security, gorgeous grounds, fantastic array of well maintained services (bar, pool, shared kitchen, etc), daily schedule of free events from Yoga and Meditation to Beer Pong Tournament and Movie nights, you don't need to even look up things in the city before deciding to come here. The bathrooms were needing a cleaning, but at 11:30pm on a Friday night I can't say that's not to be expected. The whole place is an instagram hot spot thanks to their hip and recycled aesthetic. Two pillows and a super cozy duvet to help with an excellent night's sleep. Definitely recommend!!

I'm struggling between a 3 and a 4 star rating. I'm a single American woman in my 30's who stayed 4 nights in a shared, 4 bed room. Experienced traveler: I don't expect a resort or silver platters. I LOVE their customer service. Easy to get help, communicate on WhatsApp (I've never used it before), change plans, etc. Great people!! Most speak English too, which helped- but those that didn't were patient and taught me new words in Spanish. Their activities are great, but not the only things to do in Guatemala. Book with Selena for peace of mind, then see what else there is! The reason I take off 1.5 stars is because of the cleanliness. Benefit of the doubt: I arrived late on a Friday, maybe cleaning staff has the weekend off? Or they are short staffed? Our room's bathroom was tiny and gross. Constant standing water from the shower, which wouldn't be a big deal if you hade more than 3 square feet to stand in. When I arrived, the waste bin was full to the brim with used toilet paper (because flushing TP can lead to clogs), and didn't get emptied until mid day Sunday (1.5 days of pee germs). Ironically, the public bathrooms seemed cleaner, but had their own problems: brown smears on the walls/outlets, gross muddy floors. And more of an FYI: many patrons go from room to bar or bathroom without shoes (I'm an eye witness and there's footprints to prove it)... That really turned me off to using their fabric hammocks. I don't want my head where some's gross feet were. Food and drinks were tasty. Bartenders were friendly and fun. The night gaurd helps with late check ins and early shuttle/activity pickups. No issues there and it was a reassurance. Their spa was great. Low budget: Not what I expected, but they are resourceful with their facility and make it a nice experience! I was very relaxed. If I were to go again, I would choose the same place but pick a private room and hope that the bathroom is cleaner!

Overall the ambiance of selina is really cool and the location is great. We stayed in a private room and felt a little catfished by how tiny the rooms are vs what the photos looked like. It barely fit the bed and that's about it. Hardly any room for luggage or to relax comfortably. We tried to book spa services since there is a sign out front and was told it is no longer available. The pool is a cool feature but a little dingy and not as nice as the photos. Overall I feel like selina is really pricey for what you get.

Selina is known for strong internet and attracting a digital nomad crowd. Beautiful communal spaces, and nicely furnished room. However the walls are incredibly thin so you can hear your neighbors from all sides, it sounded as if people were in my room at one point. And they don’t replenish the personal bathroom - mine was missing soap and low on toilet paper when I arrived. It’s a good hotel if you need reliable internet though wouldn’t say the best experience.

Great location, walking distance to all Antigua attractions. great comfy beds, nice outdoor area, nice bar, yoga room was charming, the library so quite along the day and isolated for those who want to be alone or finish some work. Really the best place to start your trip, meet other travelers and plan the next of your trip, plus, they give you a nice little bracelet to keep :) Working from home? check their monthly promotions!!!! you will love it.

This was one of the best hostels I have ever been in Central America. The activities and the out door areas are super cozy, theres is always something to do anywhere you want. I arrived with some friends for 6 nights, we didn't have any plan, but being super close to town it was super convenient for us to explore and meet other people. The last night of our stay we wanted to hang out outside the room cause it was our last day in town, but the guard asked us to go to our room around 23 hrs, but we kept on hearing people talking and having music at the cinema until super late hours, which it was contradictory cause all of us were asked to go to sleep. Besides that all was great!!! thank you Selina. Cheers

This is probably one of the best Selina I've been so far (I stayed in other Selinas in Mexico and Colombia), next to the Selina in Quindio, Colombia. The property is very beautiful, with a nice and very well maintained garden, and pool, hammocks, tables, chairs and other places to relax. I stayed in the Bedouin dorm, which was better than I thought at the beginning. It offers a good level of privacy, a locker next to your bed and an own bathroom. Also the beds are super comfortable, as in all other Selinas I've visited so far. The welcome drink is served not individually, but in a group of all new guests, which offers an amazing opportunity to meet other travelers. This I've never seen in Colombia or Mexico. Also the breakfast was tasty and nicely presented. The coffee includes free refills. Also the staff is super friendly, engaged and helpful and is putting a lot of effort in satisfying customers needs. They even offered me using my dorm before actual check in time after I came back from an overnight hike. Selina offers daily events like beer pong tournament, cinema night, free morning meditation from Mo-Sa, etc. Only the yoga lessons come at a cost. Also the spacious kitchen is well maintained and equipped and was always clean when I used it. One point of criticism, but thus is actually not the fault of the local team: I had quite a few issues with a promotion they had on their website which was about a 30% discount and free breakfast. But the total price with code was more expensive than without. As I found out, 8 USD a day were still included for the breakfast, although it should be for free. The customer service never admitted that this is the case, there only answer was that the rates are flexible but failed to provide explanation why a booking with 30% discount and free breakfast is more expensive than without using the code (although I got what they've promoted after almost 3 weeks mail exchange and the local team also accepted to extent my stay for the same conditions). All in all a very nice Selina, with daily events and a well maintained property. The crowd is a mix of travelers and co-workers.

This is not what it seems and photos are over edited. This is not worth $100 + usd and the food was average at best at $18 usd. This might be a vloggers/ tiktokers paradise but it's an illusion. No air-conditioning, shared bathrooms and no room service. Rooms are made diy in some parts and overall it's a gimmick. It's a great money maker for owner but not for a traveler. The bar tender was nice and made a great drink. Overall I felt ripped off and some younger kids might not feel that.

What an amazing place to stay. All of the staff working in the hostel were excellent. They made us feel extremely welcome and made our stay that bit more enjoyable. The atmosphere in the hostel is amazing and the Alan in the bar made sure we were well looked after. It is a true beauty and if I ever return to Antigua I will make sure that i will return to Selina!

Spent three nights at Selina Antigua. Beautiful garden and common spaces. The service was great and the staff was helpful. The in house bar and restaurant are decent, and a good option if you wnat to stay in for the night. I stayed the first night in a 4 bed dorm which I didn't love, but then moved to the shared 14 bed Bedouin room which I though was more spacious and pleasant. Selina also has a very nice custom where they invite all the newly arrived guests to have a free drink together so that they can get to know each other.

Review for Selina I've stayed at Selina Antigua for 1 week and participated in many of the activities while there. I've found the staff to be very friendly and great at building community. Alex, from the restaurant, was especially welcoming and genuine, which I appreciated as a solo (and shy) traveler. He created a sense of belonging which is the heart of co-living. I was impressed with the location, wifi strength/speed, and activities. I had a private room and loved it! After staying at other Selinas, this is my favorite location! Feedback- I wish the wellness activities were prioritized. Also, the co-working space was dimly lit and a bit depressing. I would have appreciated more natural light and fresh air ventilation.

I absolutely loved my stay here and will be back. the place is really well done, very artsy with nice pool and I really liked the 14 bed dorm. It can be very sociable but also has a peaceful vibe. The common kitchen is very well done. The staff were the best part of my experience there, as they were very friendly, helpful and had great recommendation. A special thanks to all the staff would made my experience what it was <3

We had a great experience. Very dog friendly, they provided a little cot and bowls for my dog. The food is amazing! They have great vegan options! I highly recommend!!

The massage was amazing and real good value for money. I don’t know where to post this after checkout so I do it here. Check-in the hostel is with an app, which is annoying if you’re not a regular staying at Selina. People at the reception could be a bit happier doing their work.

Treat yourself to the most amazing deep massage with Yesenia. She has magic hands. You will be surprised how someone so small can be so powerful. You will leave at peace and relaxed.

We booked in here, had some miscommunication with our friends about dates so requested to cancel, we realised we actually had the right date so we came into reception to request that they DO NOT cancel our booking and they ensured us they WOULD NOT cancel our booking. When we came back three days later they had intact CANCELLED our booking and we had to rebook another room that was more expensive and actually offered us less as initially we had a private bathroom and we ended up with a shared bathroom and very small room. The people at the reception were not understanding at all and offered very little solution. We then went to order lunch and stood at the bar for about 10 minutes before anyone took our order. They got the order wrong twice. Although the facilities are beautiful the service and communication is dreadful.
