Easily my favorite hostel and favorite meal I had in Guatemala. Clean, very cute, fun vibe, safe & cozy, and the food was absolutely incredible (aside from the carrot latte - I def suggest taking that off the menu haha). I’m dreaming of the day I go back to eat that breakfast again! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend 🙌🏼

Not a place for rest. My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights and while the staff seems nice and the place is cute, it is super loud. From inside the private room I can clearly hear every conversation being had in the courtyard and every tooth being brushed in the shared bathrooms next to us. And while that’s fine during the day, it’s not cool when the noise continues well into the night or before the sun is even up. Long story short: I wouldn’t recommend this place for anyone looking to sleep.

Super beautiful hostel with a very nice atmosphere. You can see the volcanoes from the rooftop terrace and enjoy a super delicious drink while watching Fuego erupt. Even though there is so many beds in a dorm it’s very quiet and comfortable and you have your own private space. 100% recommend !

I cannot say enough about how amazing this hostel is!!! It's beautifully decorated and very open. There is a courtyard and terrace with bars and beautiful plants. At night there was a fire pit in the courtyard as well. The service was so attentive and knowledgeable. JP the manager and the front desk staff were very friendly. The bed was super comfy and had its own fan and light. I enjoyed my stay so much I am going back this week!!

The hostel is clean and the beds are comfortable, but it’s still not really worth the comparable high price in my eyes. First of, some of the staff is really unfriendly. Today there was a guy making breakfast in the morning. I saw him preparing some eggs and waited in front of him until he finished. But instead of taking my order afterwards, he simply continued preparing new eggs and ignored me. Even after I said good morning. I realized that the only way is to tell him by myself exactly what I want. You don’t have a menu, so you’ll probably have no idea what to take. I just knew it because I saw the other ones. His answer was that he will first prepare the other ones, the vibe was not nice at all. The breakfast itself is super small, so if you are a young guy, you’ll probably better go directly to a restaurant and eat something that satisfies your stomach. It has no kitchen, so keep in mind that you will spend a lot on restaurants in addition. Eating in the restaurant of the hostel itself is nothing for a backpacker- the prices are comparable to a regular restaurant in Europe. Wifi is available, but only works okay in the first hours of the morning when no one else uses it. If you need to work from here, you should buy a SIM card, otherwise you’ll be offline more or less in a 5-10 minutes rhythm. It’s not a party hostel or something to socialize a lot, but that goes kind of hand in hand with all places I’ve visited in Guatemala so far. At 10 PM, the hostel is kind of completely dead. The terrace and some staff (the ladies on the reception work super professional) make the whole experience a little better but at the end I must end up by giving only those 2 stars. Compared on what you get, you can find hostels for cheaper prices that beat this one in almost all points. It’s decently not a bad hostel either but it needs improvement in the points listed above.

This place plays music loud enough to keep everyone in a 2 block radius up all night. If you value ever having peace and quiet during your vacation, avoid this place like the plague. And sadly any place near it.

Wish I hadn't pre-paid for 2 nights. They blare music from the restaurant all day & late into the evening. Then they're building a new dorm so construction noise & toxic fumes woke me up Saturday morning. They won't let you go to bed early & they wake you at first light. This is not a place for rest. - There's no kitchen for guests so you always have to eat out. - They don't provide towels -They charge you for lockers -it's priced higher than hostels that provide towels & lockers Positives: -It is designed in a trendy style -Beds are comfortable (which would be great if you could get some sleep) - it's kept clean

Great hostel with a central location, super nice staff and beautiful decor. I really like the rooftop terrace and the typical Guatemalan breakfast. The manager, JP, is really friendly and had good recommendations of things to do. highly recommend staying here!

Our stay at adra Hostel was really unpleasant. They played a huge rock concert which they promised would end at 11pm. Loud music continued until 12.30, the party effectively lasted at least until 1.45 AM with people speaking loud just next to our dorm's door. Those where not residents of the hostel. We cannot understand the choice to organize such huge party while you have residents trying to sleep literally behind the thin door giving on the patio. Some of them have to wake up early, this is really disrespectful for the travelers. In addition, we tried staying at the concert as we couldn't sleep anyway. It took more than 10 minutes to get our change after ordering 1 coke and 1 beer. You could see there was a complete lack of organization behind the bar. Positive aspects though : comfortable beds, beautiful place, good food (but small quantities). I hope this message will be useful to any reader.

Great stay at Adra Hostel! The beds were extremely comfortable and the showers were clean. Great social vibes and co-working spot - not to mention the breakfast is included! Would recommend for anyone staying in Antigua.

Absolutely love this place!! Everything was clean and beautiful and the rooms were comfortable. The courtyard and rooftop the best I’ve seen for a Hostal! Definitely will return!

I knew I wanted to come here because I visited it when I first came to Antigua because of the location and breakfast. The service is really nice and the rooms are comfortable - you don’t feel like you are sharing a room with 24 people. Location is perfect!

A great hostel which is more than reasonably priced for it’s amazing interior with modern perks. The staff are happy and the hostel it’s self goes out of it’s way to help guests. A great environment and they seem to treat their staff well as they are genuinely happy. The only suggestion is that they could make the dorm beds on the 3rd story cheaper as it is quite a climb to those heights. Other than a great hostel. Thanks for the stay.

Really nice hostel, great atmosphere and layout with large courtyard in the middle and large surrounding rooftop area with couches and tables (it looks like a bar will be opened up there shortly too, April ‘23). Breakfast is included but rather flimsy (a little more than a tablespoon of scrambled egg and small cup of fruit) Rooms are nice and beds spacious and comfortable, however try to avoid the top bunk esp if you’re going out drinking (it’s high up and a fall would likely kill you) also the air up there can get pretty stuffy. $40/night but this was during Semana Santa so I think quite reasonable.

I stayed at this place 3 separate times during my trip. I like the cubby-style hostel beds, and the staff are very friendly. The rooftop bar is a great place to hang out during the day, and their food and drinks are good.

Unfortunately I absolutely do not recommend this hostel as I feel like all that's cared for is the client's money, rather than the client's experience. I booked the Acatenango volcano tour through the hostel for 350Q, only to be placed with the most basic company that actually only charges 250Q when you book it directly. Hence the hostel took a commission of 100Q, which amounts to a ridiculously high number of 40%.. When I asked about this there was nothing management could do for me, which is beyond ridiculous. Besides, they make you pay to use a locker (another 50Q...), whereas I've never had that in any other hostels in the area. Highly disappointed. There's way nicer places in the area.

The hostel is very nice and clean. The staff is very nice as well. The place is good for one or two nights in Antigua but not more. I work online and therefore, wifi is very important to me. I asked before coming and I’ve been told that the wifi is very good but no. Most of the time I was with my hot spot, which at the end cost me some money! On top of that, there is no kitchen, which is not good for a long stay neither. And… You’ll be charge for everything… towel is fine, I get it but the blanket ?! Seriously… they charge 25Q is you want a proper blanket, otherwise you just get a very thin one and you are freezing ! (Because Antigua is not a very warm city at night) Breakfast included is very poor.. Overall I would say for the price, you can fine much better in Antigua.

Great place to stay in Antigua! The whole staff is super friendly, clean place and comfortable beds. In their restaurant Calista they offer delicious food and the service all in all is just excellent. 100% recommendable!

An absolutely wonderful stay in this accommodation. The owners Ricardo and Janine are absolutely beautiful people and take personal interest in the guests. They made me feel so so welcome and went above and beyond the services you would expect from establishment owners. They are down to Earth and care about the well-being of rehire clients in and out of the hostel. They treat their staff well and maintain very high standards of food, service, cleanliness and COVID safety. I honestly can’t fault this place. I have been disappointed with uncomfortable beds and bad service in certain places, but here I really can’t find faults (not that I try to lol)

I think it is a bit overhyped. The dorms are huge and there is not a lot of space for the luggage. The toilet in my room was also broken. Breakfast is great.

So many friendly faces and the warmest welcome at Adra Hostel :) the space is so beautiful and clean, the breakfast was SO delicious and I was so so so thankful for all of the kindness from the staff to ease my first-solo travel worries. I wish I could have stayed for so much longer but hasta la próximo!

Just amazing! Magical place surrounded by beautiful plants. The staff is really kind and helpful, they make you feel like home. This spot is also digital nomad friendly in case you are traveling and working at the same time. The food is delicious and healthy, they have options for vegetarian and vegan diets. They also organize different activities throughout the week that are free for guests. I'll definitely come back to Adra, I loved it there 💘

Pros: Breakfast is great and rooms are very clean. The rooftop is lovely. Cons: All the rooms face the main hangout area, and the music is loud and fast paced until late into the evening. There were no fans or AC in the room so they can be stuffy (this is relatively typical in Guatemala though). The reception is slow to respond to requests.

Staff were very nice . always greeted me with a smile and by name . I Nice decor and space . Not a hostel suitable for solo traveling, no organized events or pub crawls etc. Mostly the people I met were in my room, everyone else was cliquey . No sense of security here. Anyone is free in off the street, rooms don’t lock . Bunks are comfortable, but no privacy curtains , luckily i had a blanket . so keep that in mind showers in dorms were gross never cleaned and also had no lock on the door , so keep that in mind . Breakfast was good but everything isn’t included (only one beverage, additions cost extra) happy hour all day for guest but i was overcharged after the first day, i think the staff thought i didn’t notice but i most certainly did . Gave good information for restaurants and things to do. Overall this place is good for a night or two, definitely better hostels within the area.

The only good thing about this overexpensive hostel is the location. The three-bed bunks in the 18-person dorm aren't as bad, but the music from the restaurant that goes on until the middle of the night keeps you up. Also the lights in the dorm stay on until 4am and you cannot turn them off because they're automatic. Note that it's €16 a night, which is ridiculous for a dorm bed. Breakfast is a nice extra tho.

The best hostel I've been to in central America. Staff are lovely, rooms so clean and provide privacy even in a dorm. The food is incredible. Great location and rooftop.

I really enjoyed my stay at Adra! The free breakfast was very tasty! I always looked forward to eating breakfast. The beds were super comfy. I love the cubicle style, which gave some privacy. The garden/lounge/balcony area was cute. The wifi was also great. Probably even faster than the phone data I bought. Overall, I really like the ambiance of hostel. The staff members are phenomenal! Best service I’ve ever gotten in my life! I always felt so welcomed by every staff. They helped me out so much. One of instances was when I forgot to book a bed when I came back from Lake Atitlan. The staff members ensured I had a place to stay even though they were sold out for the night. I insisted I would just sleep on the couch outside for the meantime because I was too tired to move to another hostel. The staff provided me with enough blankets that I needed so I won’t get cold. Eventually, there was a “no show” so they gave me that bed. No words to describe how thankful I am for all the staff there. If I ever go back to Antigua, I would book with Adra in a heartbeat!

I stayed for one evening. I didn’t have any issues in my private room for 5 but booked only for me. Check-in is at a specific time. Arriving early will get your bags housed in an open room until check-in time. If I booked a shared room, I would have had to pay extra for a towel. Fortunately towels came in my single room. It was pretty spacious for me. This was my third hostel experience in Guatemala and they do it decently (first, El Paredon, and second, Panachajel). The room like the hostel was bright and airy. Centrally located around the corner from many key sites and restaurants. I found the staff super helpful. The wifi was strong. I ordered breakfast the evening before but when I arrived the option was not available. I got toast, jam and some left over fruit - the marmalade was pretty good. They offer a welcome drink during your stay which I got and unfortunately it made me very sick. Hence the one star. Unlike my previous hostel in the cities before, things winded down around 12 midnight. Like I heard nothing. Maybe I came during a quiet time but nothing kept me awake. The rooftop offers nice views in the morning and evening. Some individuals were completing yoga up there. I could have been tired. Seems like a lot of backpackers frequent this hostels. Mostly a younger crowd but I had zero issues. I wanted to try another hostel but they were sold out for my dates. If I visit again, I’ll try the other spot just to try it but this was a very good experience. I hope you find this review helpful. If so, please give me a thumbs up. Thank you.

Facilities are great but that’s about it. Dorm rooms are far too big, staff is friendly but does feel like they are friendlier towards patrons of the restaurant rather than of the hostel.

  • 5/5 Victoria G. 1 year ago on Google
Everything was perfect! Beds were nice and comfy, even though we stayed in the 24 bed dorm, everyone was quiet and you get your own private space because of the shape of the bed. Showers were great, staff was really nice! Good location near everything. beautiful common area and nice free breakfast. It may not be the best place to meet people because it’s very calm and chill but they seemed to have planned activities some days too! Staff was very friendly and helpful!

A group of 3 friends were here on their roof top bar and loved the view. The staff member were so helpful that we had also dinner there. Absolutely amazing. We went back there the following night and booked our trips out of Antigua here as well.

Should have checked before I paid but the dorm is 36 beds in triple bunks. Two dollars for a smaller room elsewhere would have been hugely worth it. Also, only two toilets and three showers for all those people. Helpful staff, beautiful terrace, delicious breakfast.

First time staying in a Hostel and I was very impressed by the service and rooms. I found the location was perfect, very close to the center and restaurants. The staff is incredibly kind and friendly. I enjoyed talking to them. Especially Alejandro who helped check in and recommended me authentic restaurants to try! Bed is super confortable and bathroom has good water pressure (hot and cold water) And not to forget the rooftop. It’s BEAUTIFUL and so cozy.

We had an amazing experience staying at this hostel! The restaurant and bar had incredible service, great food and drinks, as well as very kind staff. Koky, our bartender, was very accommodating and friendly. The hostel has very clean facilities with an amazing rooftop and views!

👍👍 A must-see and do in Guatemala. This is not only a restaurant but also a museum and garden. The food is phenomenal. The views from all angles of this large location are amazing. If there is a long wait to eat, don't worry. It takes about an hour to walk the property and enjoy what it has to offer.
