If you have a spare hour, do the chocolate workshop at ChocoMuseo. You get to make a custom chocolate bar with toppings of your choice (first 25 mins). Then you get a little lesson on cocao, history and how chocolate is made. You get to try raw and roasted beans. All in all a good experience, and you can even take little kids. They recommend reservations, but we just walked in at 1000 hrs and they had seats (Q100/person). They also have a little Cafe and ine cream (which you can skip, it is meh).

Great experience for the chocolate workshop. We were able to sign up for the one hour one. Kids loved it.

Aww! So glad I stopped here. Cute shop with a variety of chocolate offerings. And they love giving you samples! 🤣 I took the bean to bar workshop and it was excellent! My guide (gosh please forgive me.. Samone? Savored? Sa.. something) was excellent and friendly. I learned so much. Like that white chocolate is not chocolate 😅 and how we got the Nestlé brand! Made our own bars and tried multiple traditional drinks that I got to help prepare! Book your class in person if you can! They also have a little cafe in the back. Did not eat here but had some good looking pastries and drinks.

We did a 1 hour chocolate making tour which was great. It was not really “chocolate making class” but more like getting information about cocoa beans and the process in general. Our guide had a very friendly and fun attitude, unfortunately, because of her mask and noise in the cafe it was hard to hear her. We were able to take home our own chocolates at the end of the class. I’d recommend if you have time & desire to learn more about chocolate making process.

Amazing chocolate workshop! We enjoyed it very much. We learned about the history and the processing of cocoa beans. The instructors was very professional and fun. We prepared chocolate bars and 3 different cocoa drinks. Recommended!

Did the 2 hour chocolate workshop. It was really fun and engaging. If you’re a fan of sour and bitter tastes, I recommend the workshop because everything turns out that way.

Where can I start!? The whole experience was amazing from beginning to end. We were greeted warmly with a smile and our guide was able to accommodate the class in English which was super helpful. We were able to learn so much about the history of chocolate in Guatemala, how it’s made and the different ways it was used. All in a light , creative and light environment. Very interactive and everyone in the group joined in and had a great time. It was my partners birthday and they even brought our a piece of cake and we all sang happy birthday. Just a beautiful touch. I would recommend this tour to anyone. It is definitely family friendly and a must do in Antigua

The 1-hour workshop was wonderful! It cost 100Q and was completely worth it. Diana, our guide, was phenomenal. There were a few Spanish speaking guests, so she switched between English and Spanish the entire hour, which was very impressive. It also helped me with my Spanish, which was a bonus! The chocolate bar you get to make was delicious. The information provided was very interesting, and Diana answered all questions eloquently. I highly recommend this workshop to anyone. Please don’t forget to tip your guide!

Salome gave us a tour and taught us A LOT about cacao. We got to make our own chocolate bars. They also sale ice cream which was tasty. They were able to set us up with the tour/class when we walked up but I recommend scheduling it before hand just to make sure.

You can just go and visit for free, buy good local chocolate 🍫, taste it in the spot on the patio or, what’s I highly recommend, do the workshop to do your own chocolate and learn about chocolate!!!

I did not think this place was all that great. The museum is located on the central plaza and consists of two rooms, both the size of an average American living room. The museum label is there just for looks because this is pretty much a chocolate shop and a chocolate bar, I'm not sure where the museum part of the establishment is located but I did not see it. You can learn how cacao is turned into chocolate and make your own chocolate, for a price, of course. I suspect that price is fairly steep from the price of a cup of cocoa that I did purchase, which was 28 Q after the mandatory tip was added by the cashier. That's 4 USD for a cup of cocoa, that's Starbucks prices.

We had such a great private chocolate making class with Frank! We learned the history of cacao and the chocolate making process from the bean to the bar. The class was in English (which he spoke perfectly!) and it was very fun and interactive. We made our own customized chocolate bars and tried different kinds of hot chocolate and tea that we prepared. This class with Frank was definitely one of the highlights of our visit to Antigua!

The chocolate class was fantastic! Joseline expertly led us through all the steps from harvesting the bean to edible delicious chocolate. We learned a lot and left with our own handmade chocolate bars. Worth the time and thoroughly enjoyable. We'll definitely recommend to others.

We took the chocolate making experience which was 2 hours and included making your own chocolate. We weren't a huge fan of the chocolate itself, but the class was very interactive and fun

My friend and I visited here for a chocolate making class, we opted in for the all inclusive class. I believe the difference was making the chocolate from start to finish and trying different cacao drinks. Our host/Teacher was amazing and kept us all engaged with stories and history of the cacao fruit/nut. We got to taste and prep the cacao at every stage of the chocolate making process. There was a total of 3 drinks I don’t remember the first one it wasn’t a favorite, but, the cacao shell tea … Amazing; also the hot chocolate was to die for, so good. I visited Guatemala for my birthday so the class sing Happy Birthday to me over Ice cream that gifted to me by the host.

I attended the chocolate workshop at ChocoMuseo. It was fantastic. Our host Diana was quite knowledgeable and spoke both in Spanish and English. She made the experience a lot more fun than I initially expected. I think this is an activity for all ages. There were two families, one couple and a few individuals and everyone seemed to enjoy the entire two hours. My chocolate bar didn’t come out so great, as I was a little heavy handed with the sea salt.

Nicely done with some education and history done in a fun and interactive way. My wife has been to a couple places like this but this demonstration was the best. We were surprised by how much fun we had with our daughter there. Joselin did a great job.

The chocolate here is amazing! The staff greets you with samples and don't have to sell you anything from there. We purchased one of each flavor! My husband called it the "espresso of chocolate" 🍫 😋

I took the mini class and had so much fun! The short class was perfect for me! And I still got my custom chocolate bar to take home!

The workshop is a fun activity, plus you get to taste chocolate at different stages, from the cocoa bean to the paste, which might be interesting for chocolate lovers. Get a taste of the real thing!

Very cool Workshop with a lot of knowledge about cacao and the Mayas. You can make your own Bar and try cool stuff like cacao tea and a mayan hot chocolate 👍

So this place seems great IF you take one of the classes/talks. If you do, great! If not, it's just a chocolate shop with a few posters.

A must do. Chocolate museum with plenty of free samples. Learn about how the Mayans were the originators of the chocolate making process which is still used today! Order the “Chocolate Maya” to concoct your own spicy hot chocolate (we recommend only mixing half of the water provided for a thicker hot chocolate consistency!)

  • 5/5 Monica C. 2 years ago on Google
Nice environment, pet friendly and wonderful drinks. They have a bistro and also workshops with useful information and a chocolate made by yourself as result. They serve each ingredient so you prepare your own traditional hot cocoa drink.

We made chocolate and learned about the process. We got to taste the beans in different steps of the process. They were quite bitter. We also tried 3 different kinds of chocolate based teas.

I got chocolate tea and we got a sample and it was so delicious! I don't even think it needed sugar either! Great way to not feel guilty from actually eating a chocolate bar LOL 😜😜 The milk chocolate is super delicious though I have to say

Great chocolate. I had the chocolate conquistador and it was amazing. Very smooth rich but not sweet. We tasted several other chocolate and they were all good. It's a quick little stop to take a break and enjoy chocolate.

If there’s 0 stars I would give it. Don’t go here. BIG waste of time ill never get back. All full with annoying kids. Also lady says come back but when you come back it’s always full. Book online it’s 2x-4x more expensive. Of course they prioritize that because of money.

We had a great time learning about chocolate making and trying a variety of cacao products. The fee is a bit pricey at about $25/person, but includes your own custom chocolate bar and tastings of some cacao drinks. It took about an hour and 45 minutes so plan accordingly.

Took the 2-hour chocolate class and had a great time! We made and tried multiple drinks with the cacao beans in addition to making our own chocolate bar.

Great chocolate. Cute little store. I did the Bar to Bean workshop and it was really educational and fun. I learned a lot. I went home with my own chocolate and got to try a few chocolate beverages from old Mayan traditions. 160Q or $20US and worth every penny. I suggest the Mini Chocolate workshop for those with little patience or small children. The Bar to Bean workshop is set for two hours but it took us about 2.5 while the Mini workshop is about 1 hour or 1.5 hours. Great prices on their chocolate as well.

We took the 45 minutes class, thay was very rich with details on the process of making chocolate 🍫 The staff there is very professional and friendly, not to mention that their products are delicious!

👍👍 A must-see and do in Guatemala. This is not only a restaurant but also a museum and garden. The food is phenomenal. The views from all angles of this large location are amazing. If there is a long wait to eat, don't worry. It takes about an hour to walk the property and enjoy what it has to offer.

👍👍 We love Luna de Miel and have come here three times on three separate visits to Antigua- we live in the capital. My husband has ordered the Chipotle twice, and the Tejana.
