Fantastic experience! A very interesting and fairly big museum of regions art. Juan Pablo, our guide was the most wonderful, enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide one could hope for. He took us around the museum and shared his wealth of knowledge with us. This place was a Convent for 200 years until the nuns were expelled. The art is very closely tied to the culture in Mexico. A great place to spend a few hours.

Very nice old building with two internal patios and a lot of well presented items like paintings and daily religious artefacts.

Beautiful and full of history. Our guide was definitely NOT into it though. Be sure to go to the convent before the church.

Seems like something out of a story book. Nuns hiding behind hidden walls from the government whom wants to oppress them.

Some items from exhibition & convent history were removed to make the place more palatable for the public. Still a great place to visit!

The museum of religious art former convent of Santa Monica is the most complete vestige of the Baroque architecture of Puebla. Being a 17th-century building, the museum has a unique collection of its genre, which is made up of religious objects and paintings. In its twelve rooms the daily life of the Augustinian nuns is exposed, their profession, their rules and even the crypts where the remains of some of their oldest members are found, since the nuns were of cloister and could not leave the institution until his death.

The Convento of Santa Monica was a place where the Spain soldiers wife's go to shelter and were some women go to reforce their religion, it is a cultural place because of the material that they use to build it and the sacred art that is exposed in it. Is located on 18 oriente in the center of Puebla, when I go I get surprised because of the form that express all the phases that the building cross.I recommend the explanation tour of the place because they explain all the history and the explanation of the art that they have.
