Pretty interesting experience. It was kind of annoying that they don’t sell tickets there (you have to buy online in advance). However, it was still worth the visit. Pro tip: show up at the very last time slot so you can take your sweet time and avoid the crowds.

Its clean, organized, popular and overall it's good. I didn't like that i had troubles at the front desk due to the were asking me if I was re-entering to the museum cause as i bought my tickets online, they said that they were already used and, well, all my info was correct, so they have an issue with their system. I couldn't buy and extra ticket while on the line, so i recommend buy the tickets online.

Please go get your tickets online before going to the museum it’s very simple and straightforward. If you go to the museum without tickets you will be told to buy your tickets online and will not be allowed inside no matter how much money you will pay. Also you make the line much longer for people who actually planned and bought there tickets accordingly. We saw a lot of families leave upset and frustrated that they couldn’t buy a ticket there. Now on to the real review, the museum is amazing and way bigger than it looks from the outside, some things were closed due to covid but 90% of it was open and a very clean and well managed museum. In order to take pictures you will need to pay and extra 30 pesos per person. So if only one person pays only one person can use there camera. You cannot video record at all, if caught you will be warned once and then asked to leave (I got to see the warning and it is taken very seriously) also if you take a bag that goes on your back you will be asked to carry it on the front of your torso. This museum is always full so plan accordingly and don’t expect 6feet distancing but masks are mandatory if that makes you feel better. Keep in mind Kids 6 and under are free. If you are a foreigner you will have to pay more if your a National you pay less but will have to provide proof of Mexican Nationality. This is a must see for anyone who loves history or art. The gift shop inside the museum is very inexpensive compared to other attractions but considering this museum has one of the most expensive tickets in the city makes sense as they make there money off entry.

Buy your ticket online!!! No exceptions. The staff is super kind, and friendly, Ale one of their staff was super helpful. You cannot buy tickets there and you must confirm that your tour includes a ticket or if you have to buy it separately. The entire house takes around 1 hour to get through, and is beautifully kept. Staff are knowledgeable of its history, so you can ask them. Also, you can only take pictures, no video, and you must purchase that pass when you buy your ticket.

Plan ahead to ensure a good experience- review from April 2023. I highly recommend reserving tickets for the first time slot of the day- 10:00am. At 10:00am you are the first into the museum and I did not find it over crowded even on a Sunday. Some rooms I was in completely alone and able to take my time. To take photos you must pay $30, but that’s about $2 USD so not a huge lift and you can probably find that change in the bottom of your purse. Some complain that they didn’t learn enough about her life- but I found the museum full of stories and narratives of her, Diego, and her family. Don’t pass up the exhibit at the end with her clothing and more stories about her. There is a cafe inside the museum so you could also sit for a bit in the garden and enjoy the day. Despite instructions sent ahead with tickets, there is no requirement to wear masks inside any longer.

GET A TICKET BEFOREHAND! It can be sold out for days and it’s far away from the city center so don’t take a chance! It’s a cool place though, seeing actual garments from paintings was very cool. Not a lot of self portraits though. Be sure to check out other places in the area, there’s great restaurants in the area, the Leon Trotsky Museum is also a highlight.

I think the museum is overestimated. I came once and there were no bookings available. Later I did booking online and had to come back the other day. First of all it is far from Center and time waste to go back and forth. To take a picture you need to pay an extra. Even though, you are not allowed to make video inside of the house. I do not know where they took this rules. I was wearing a hat, and in last room they asked to remove my hat, because it is invisible who is there. Why they need even my face. Felt very unwelcome the way how museum managed whole experience.

I had such high hopes but left feeling like this was more of tourist trap. Buying my ticket online was a hassle, took 12 tries before it went through, I don’t understand how a museum that requires you to buy your ticket online has such a horrible system. It’s also 30 pesos to take photos there as well, which comes out to a total of 297.50 pesos. I wouldn’t say you get your moneys worth at all. I read another review that mentions shooting for the 5pm as it’s less people and it’s the last time of that, totally agree with that. What I didn’t expect was ro feel rushed by all or the staff! I arrived right at 5pm and waited a while in line as they let people in. Online or says you need to print your tickets, YOU DO NOT NEED TOO. I spent from 5-6:30 there. There’s some info panels that are in a small font, so waiting to get in-front of them to read them took the longest out of anything there. In the first room I was stopped by a guard for taking photos even though I put the pass on the back of my phone. They did apologize but a little frustrating all the same. To add to it, I had a small kanken backpack that they asked me to wear front facing, yet another woman had the exact same backpack and they never asked her. The museum shows a where she lived and her work which was very cool. But there’s do not touch stickers on a lot of walls and such that do show up in a lot of photos. They museum doesn’t tell a lot about her life, it’s snippets here and there, I would highly recommend the podcast History Chicks which does a whole episode on her and gives WAY more information than I got from the museum. The way Rivera is portrayed was a bit unnerving too, rose colored glasses galore. I was in the last group of about 10 people going through the museum and the staff could not get us out of there fast enough. I’ve never felt so rushed in a museum before. That alone to me was the worst part of this experience. Having staff literally behind you trying to lock up. On my way out it does say that it closes at 5:45, and the little store closes then as well. After waiting in line and buying the pass and just waiting for the people in front to go in, I didn’t even start looking at parts of the museum until 5:10 at least. The whole situation seemed very unreasonable and left a bad taste in my mouth. I would say happy I’ve been once, but my expectations were way to high, and left very disappointed in the entire experience. The house it’s self and her work is incredible. Again, just totally disappointed in the experience.

I turned up 11.30 and their were tickets available by qr code for 3.45. It looked like a tourist nightmare so decided not to do as is small place. For those not on a tour (which is basically the problem of it being booked out) there is a Trotsky museum in the next street aswell. Fan or not it’s a beautiful house and garden and no fee for pictures with a garden for coffee. Also quick bus ride away Diego Rivera ‘museum’ - impressive place made by frank Lloyd right. The stuff in it is a bit of a mix of meso America and modern which not really worth seeing if you already been to the big museums but the house and garden are unusual. Plus you can have a beer and tamales.

It is unlike any museum I have ever been to. Like being invited into someone’s home, posthumously, to bask in all the art and their personal collection and artefacts. It’s like coming to know someone, their innermost thoughts (e.g., the corset that held her up, how she saw herself, how much she loved Diego), and it’s a beautiful, wonderful experience. Buy tickets online and in advance. Be early to line up and expect there to always be a crowd. They’ll say the whole museum will take you 45 minutes. Unless you’re prepared to rush through, plan for 1.5-2 hours. Take in Freda’s indomitable spirit and be inspired.

Be sure to get tickets in advance; they're pretty good with the schedules and keep the line moving. If you want to take pictures inside the museum, you'll need to buy a permit at the front desk to avoid an awkward moment with the staff during your tour :) The exhibition is very well kept and you're able to experience a little bit of the life of this amazing woman

I do not think this museum is really worth it unless you are a big fan of Frida Kahlo. The house itself is beautiful and the architecture is definitely appreciable but the museum is very small and very expensive for something you can finish within half an hour. Since the museum is always fully booked (you have to book beforehand online) the little rooms are packed with people and you are pushed forwards like cattle, it's a logistical nightmare. The artwork in the museum is also not very impressive as it encompasses almost none of her famous works, Most of the pieces on display are photos anyway, the emphasis of this museum is then also not on her artwork but on the art equipment and household items of her daily life. All in all, it isn't really an art museum but more a history museum on her personal life, and especially if you only come to this neighborhood for the museum (which is far away from the city center) I would not recommend it.

Such an amazing experience to get to see where Frida and Diego lived. You get to explore the garden, and all of the rooms within the house. It was cool to see the bed where she painted, her easel, and all of her dresses. The garden is beautiful and the gift shop has some nice gifts to take back home.

Absolutely loved it. Make sure to buy tickets well in advance. We had to buy them a week before and it was for a weekday morning. The museum itself is great because it shows her art, history of her life, you get to see how she lived and the important people around her. Such a great experience. It's also pretty small and can be finished between 45min to 2 hours. The covid limited attendance actually helps the museum a lot because you can enjoy it without much of a crowd. Oh and just know that if you want to take pictures you have to pay an additional 30 pesos ($1.50). Worth it.

Beautiful buildings, nice neighborhood. We especially enjoyed the garden, with its many peaceful and beautifully designed corners. The color of the house is estonishing. Regarding the exhibition, we would have liked a bit more interactive components. Do not forget to buy your tickets online before, as early as possible, as there are no tickets available at the museum.

If you're a fan of Frida, it's a must see. Special permission is needed to take pictures of the inside of the house. The garden is beautiful & colorful... filled with ancient relics and chill vibes. There is a cute shop on-site and wonderful artesian vendors outside.

Not a large museum but a good one. If you enjoy Frida Kahlo then is an absolute must. Enchanting and delightful. We visited through a tour so I am not familiar with how to purchase tickets ahead of time. Was a once in a lifetime experience seeing some of her works and home for the first time. Everything was displayed beautifully. Glad that everything was easy to access and closed off so items are not disturbed by guests. We were able to see the museum in about an hour.

While not sharing to much, I have to say that as an artist by far, one of my favorite experiences to date. To be there where Frida and Diego lived and did art. It was something special. If I have any downside it would be that there were a lot of people. But with the right timing you can go about the museum like as if they are not there. Highly recommend giving yourself time to explore the surrounding city as well.

This place is an outstanding experience. If you're in CDMX, bring this to the top of your list of destinations. I recommend getting your tickets at least a week in advance as they sell out quickly. It's nice because there are never too many people in the museum at any one time which makes it feel like you get to see everything you want to.

Beautiful museum, Frida is a legend and to see her beautiful home is a must to see. Highly recommend to visit this museum if you’re visiting CDMX. Buy your tickets weeks ahead of time and also spend the extra $30 pesos to take pictures. The staff speaks English and Spanish and once you’re in you can see the whole museum for about 2 hours.

Despite the array of overwhelming positive reviews, I would only visit the Frida Kahlo Museum if you are a (very patient) and passionate Kahlo/Rivera follower. Even with a ticket bought days in advance, we spent a the majority of our time at the museum lining up; first waiting to enter, then for brief glances at the preserved home and few select artworks. In my opinion, not worth the money or the wait. Spend your time visiting the many other brilliant museums, galleries and points of interest MXCD has to offer.

Very bad experience! The staff is very rude and the place was too crowded! I love Frida Kahlo's works, but this museum was too commercialized. I didn't believe the authenticity of most of the things that were displayed there. And the most annoying thing - is that the museum did not include the most important and significant works of Frida Kahlo (The broken column; the wounded deer; Self-Portrait as a Tehuana; etc. ). It felt more like a museum commemorating a product and a brand than an art museum. Just an example, nothing is allowed to be photographed there, unless you pay at the entrance for a photo permit. Now that does not make sense at all - it stems solely from an economic interest. I have not encountered this in any serious museum in the world, except in places which it's only purpose is to take out a few more cash from you in addition to the price of the entrance ticket. It would have been better to price the ticket more rather than demand such a delusional demand. I was very upset during the tour. The only bright spot in the museum was the garden in the house - which was a little more pleasant, and here and there were also photographs of Frida taking care of it. I was so looking forward to this museum, and I was so disappointed in the end when I got to it! Oh, and something that is very important to remember - you can not just come and log in, you have to register and buy tickets in advance. Sucks, but that's what it's. By the way, even when you get a stamp while you bought the ticket, you will probably wait in line for something like 15-20 minutes until you enter.

Gorgeous place, seeing all of Frida’s art and decorations, walking through the whole house/museum is amazing. Only thing I didn’t like is that they charge you in the entrance to take pictures. Even if it’s just with your phone you have to pay, apart from the entrance ticket you already bought.

Pre-book online and days in advance to avoid disappointment. You'll have to pay a photography fee of 50 pesos inside. There is an exhibition at the moment of her clothes. There is currently no audio guide but there are descriptions of paintings. I'd say leave 1.30-2 hours to have a decent look around. Worth the visit for sure.

I am a Frida Kahlo fan. To visit the Museum it is best to purchase tickets online. Use Uber to the museum and be aware that you would have to pay to take pictures with phone or camera. There is a small gift shop. And the rest is to admire her house, her art, her wardrobe, and The Museum!

If you do not purchase a ticket in advance, get ready to wait in line for 3+ hours. The museum opened at 10am and at 9:30 we were in a line of more than 100 people that were there since 7am. But when you get in, its a wonderful experience. I thoroughly enjoyed my time when in the museum.

The museum is a nice place to visit if you love Frida Kahlo, but don't expect to see a lot of her art. The house is beautiful as a visit but was disappointed by the lack of art pieces you could see. It's a museum dedicated to the life she and Diego shared in the house, so keep that in mind when going. Also, buy tickets online ahead of time!

This experience is absolutely worth the trip out. Staying in Mexico City, there are taxis that will take you directly to this district for a fair price, it is a quick trip, depending on traffic. The house itself is busy, but with the staggering entrance times, you’re able to make it through. Absolutely worth the trip.

Yes, when you arrive here there will be a long line of people waiting but I can assure you it is worth the wait. This is the house of one of the most fantastic women of all time, an artist... a fighter. When you finally step inside you feel the energy she left behind. Please try it, and if you are a woman... you will feel empowered. I was truly grateful to experience a visit there.

I gave this place 4 stars just because I don’t believe it’s a ‘must see’ like everyone says. Yes, it’s interesting, if you’re into Frida Kahlo it is exciting.. But the house museum is pretty small, and it costs 250 peso+ 35 peso commission.. so I don’t think it’s for everyone. I did enjoy the studio, seeing how she worked.

A stunning cobalt blue building that tells Frida Kahlo's life story so well. There's little snippets of her life around the historic home and you really get a feel for the kind of resilience Frida showed in her daily life that translated so powerfully into her works of art. Do make sure to purchase tickets ahead of time and empty your bottles of water. Selfie sticks aren't allowed and may be confiscated, so leave those at home! Note: Visited prior to COVID, so things may be different.

Interesting museum but unless you’re a Frida fanatic probably not the best in CDMX. The museum is well curated but relatively small, you’ll probably only need 1 hr here. Because it’s small you’ll also not be able to move very freely given the crowds - spent a long time just waiting for the people ahead of me to move on to the next room. The whole ticket booking system was a pain - you have to go online and the website isn’t the easiest to use, especially when you get to payment (me along with others had issues with credit cards being rejected). Worth a visit but a little overrated in my opinion.

Although most of her more famous paintings are displayed in other museums, seeing her home, studio, and personal effects along with some of her beautiful works (both finished and unfinished) was a wonderful experience. There are a few of Diego Rivera's works and some of his things as well. The home also contains Frida's death mask and Diego's ashes. It costs extra to be able to photograph the home, $30MX (pretty cheap in USD). Make sure to buy tickets online in advance, because they are not available at the museum itself and you'll be very disappointed. Also, your ticket will cover admission to the Diego Rivera museum if you choose to visit there. Don't miss it!

Such an amazing place to visit. There are objects and dresses that were used by Frida. You see pieced of her artwork, original sketches and photos of Frida and Diego. There are places to sit and relax outside and a gift shop. Masks are required throughout. In orde to take pictures, you must pay an additional 30 pesos. Only pictures are allowed though, no videos or flash photography.

It’s a nice museum dedicated to life of Frida Kahlo. If you like Frida and her paintings you’ll enjoy this museum very much. A few tips before you go: you will need to buy tickets beforehand. You will need to pick a time you want to enter. BUT, their system, at least its mobile version, doesn’t allow you to add a bunch of tickets to the card. If you’re a group of people, you’ll need to do it ticket by ticket. While I was doing it for 3 people the number of entries for that specific time slot was over. So one of us got their ticket for half an hour later. Then get prepared that it gets crowded. Inside the museum is not big, and you’ll see it under an hour.

First things first - you would definitely be missing out if you visited Mexico City and did not take the time to visit the Freda Kahlo Museum. Because of how absolutely popular the museum is (Freda is monumental to Mexican culture and artistry) it’s imperative to book your tickets to the museum as soon as possible. It’s timed ticket entry, so also be sure to make it on time - if not earlier than the time in your ticket. Aside from that, it is a very smooth check-in process. If you would like to take pictures inside of the house (where all of the art & artefacts are) you will need to buy an additional ticket at the museum. It took me around an hour to get through the different rooms in the house. Bear in mind that it is a small house and there will be a lot of people walking through the gallery. But most people are mindful that you may want to take pictures and will give you space. I learned so much more about the life of Freda and Diego by going to the museum. Although it is not a guided tour, there are staff around the museum who are knowledgeable and willing to answer any questions that you may have. After taking the tour of the museum there are beautiful grounds with fountains, a gift shop and a coffee shop to peruse.

Beautiful house and the landscape was also very beautiful, the tour was great, get to experience the life of Frida from birth to her death. Tickets need to be purchased ahead of time or else if you wait til you get there there won't be any available.

I'd recommend visiting this museum if you're interested in Frida Kahlo. You learn a lot about her life, her art and her relationship with her husband. Take your time to visit each display and room and ensure you spend some time touring the grounds outside as well (my photos don't do this place justice). The whole property is beautiful and an oasis in a bustling city. We met a lot of wonderful persons while doing this tour and it was great to see kids visiting on school field trips (we spoke to some wonderful students doing a school project and they even taught us a couple of things they'd learned from their own research). I'm not sure if this was only for the specific time period we visited, but if you kept your ticket from this location, you could also visit the museum dedicated to Diego Rivera.

The architecture of the place is beautiful. The blue house, as it is well-known, has a mixture of vibrant colors which represents the essence of Mexican culture. It is a must go place in Mexico city where you can know the life of one of the most famous Mexican women artists and how her life and work live with us till nowadays

It's a nice place. You'll find a lot of nice things about the Frida and her family history. On vacations time you must buy your tickets before your visit, I recommend electronic tickets at the website. If you don't have electronic ticket, you accept the risk of waste your time in a line.

Definitely put this museum/time capsule on your list. Give yourself about 2 hours. Purchase tickets online 24 hours in advance. $14. If you're taking pictures you have to purchase a media/photo pass. $5 USD. I recommend visiting Xochomilco first in the morning and then the museum in the afternoon. I found a driver to take us around all day for $40 + tip. Included: Hotel to Xochomilco Xochomilco to Frida Kahlo Frida Kahlo back to hotel. Many restaurants near the FK museum.

The good: The museum is well organized, good COVID protocol. Make sure to buy your tickets in advance. It is short and pretty interesting, I especially liked the exhibition about her dresses and corsets. The bad: in my opinion Frida Kahlo is known for her art and her interesting life store. To me her life story was not explained well. Many interesting aspects were missing, for example the aspects that made her such a prominent feminist, her interesting relationship with Diego and her friendships with prominent figures of that time. Definitely worth a visit. It’s interesting to see how people lived in Mexico in the 1940s

Beautiful. You won't see a whole lot of Frida Kahlo's famous paintings, mainly paintings she had on the walls when she lived there. You get to see what her abode was really like when she lived there. Original objects she had and her bed with the mirror looking down on where she painting when she was painting while bedridden is really powerful. There is the courtyard with beautiful plants too. Highly recommended.

It was quite impressive that they keep Frieda’s house like this way. Her pieces and looking around the blue house was interesting as a frieda’s fan. Good garden and many photo spots. Really interesting museum for the late Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, with a lot of their paintings, sculptures, diary entries and photographs. Highly recommend buying tickets online (214 pesos including service fee), as the lines can be over 1hr wait. You also need to purchase separate pass to take photos, which is annoying.

Also, get the pass to photos because there is so incredible artifacts here.

The way white foreigners behave amid the few Mexicans that dare to visit this place contrasts with the spirits that inhabit such important living monument for the History of Mexican Society, Arts, Politics, etc. If you're not a white or whitewashed Mexican, you'll be looked down here. It"s a pity that there's not enough work done towards an integration of Mexican society today with their own and owned History. Apart from that, the personal is very friendly.

I put one star⭐️ . . . for possible enjoyment I could have. But miss it all. As tickets possible to get only online / it’s fully booked/ it’s very long queue. I came from Cancun to Mexico for few days, especially to visit Frida Kahlo museum and to get a feelings of her history and art. but couldn’t stand this endless queue. … couple of hucksters satisfied me. I bought a “Frida” T-shirt and it wasn’t so sad in the end. … now I proudly wear “Mazda” eyebrows on my T-shirt.✔️

Also I’d suggest paying the 30 pesos to be able to take pictures inside her home.

Wow, what an experience! Get your tickets in advance online, the timed entry made the line to get in very smooth (and the loaner umbrellas were very appreciated in the hot sun!). The museum is set up to be a flow through Frida and Diego's house, with originals and personal history of the painter and her constantly painful life. Museum and grounds are well kept and staff were very nice. A must visit for any art fan or historian.

Frida Kahlo’s life story is fascinating, heartbreaking and ultimately inspiring and the rooms of her home tell her history from birth to death, through childhood, illness and injury, marriage, social events and her death. The walls speak. Take time in the rooms and listen to the history the guides impart if you are on a guided tour. Beautiful and fascinating. I was especially interested in the collection of Judas Effigies, and Frida’s bed with mirror above where she was confined during recovery from her horrific bus accident. Her death mask on the bed-coverlet is a moving sight. The courtyards and art on display there are lovely.

I booked tickets before I went here through the website. They were for 265 MXN pesos I think with 30 pesos for photography (you’ve to pay this in cash and at the museum otherwise you can’t take pictures) Slightly expensive for a museum this size but I felt that museums in Mexico are expensive in general. Don’t miss out on the dress collection, her childhood bedroom and the art room. I got a fridge magnet from the gift shop for 70 pesos, everything else was priced higher than this.

Oh the blue house! Can't be missed! It really depicts the essence of Frida, colorful, artistic, yet tough & painful. It is monumental, regarding her huge personality, but also the period of time she lived! The garden is so cozy to grab a cup of coffee!

Book tour ticket and visit the home where Frida and Diego lived! A very Mexican feeling home, with vibrant colours ,great spaces and a beautiful garden! Visit the rooms with the windows with her wardrobe, too!

Even if one doesn’t have a clue about art, the name Frida Khalo will conjure up images of a Mexican artist who married Diego Rivera and had a beautiful home in Mexico City. Frida was so much more…a courageous talented woman who curated beauty around her. The museum was her and Diego’s home and her life story is I. Every nook and cranny.

Must see if you’re a Frida Kahlo Museum. Great things to see if you’re a fan of Frida Kahlo, you’ll love the scenery and information It’s usually packed with tourists, but they try to avoid this by using time slots. The tickets are hard to come by as they are unobtainable on the official website, you probably end up paying a premium through third-party sellers.

A must stop if you are in Mexico City. Humanizes Frida and allows for an intimate, private view of her entire life. This museum is located in the house she was born, raised and passed in. Has a lovely temporary exhibit with objects that have never been seen before.

A must see in Mexico City. Really enjoyed it. You need to book your ticket online and there will be a queue so do arrive like 15min before. Wasn’t expecting to be so far away in the city. Really nice museum, but was expecting to see more art by Frida. It’s 30 pesos if you want to take photos.

Plan the visit in advance and buy the tickets at least a week in advance as they get sold out. As for the museum, it was interesting to learn more about Frida's life. Her house is beautiful with a lovely garden. The ticket is however quite expensive, and I'm not sure Frida would appreciate the capitalisation of her life in such a way.

We loved this museum. It really did an amazing job having you understand Frida’s life and what made her so incredibly special as an artist and member of Mexican and global society. Buy tickets in advance and head to the Coyuchan market after!

The Frida Kahlo Museum in Mexico was really cool! Her colorful art and the stories about her life were awesome to see. The museum is set up in a way that makes it easy to follow her art journey. The people who work there are friendly and know a lot about Frida Kahlo. If you like art or just want to learn about a cool artist, you should definitely check it out!

One of the best museums I have ever been to. The culture, the art, the story, the relationship. Genuinely impressed all around. My sister absolutely loves it and adores Frida's hardship and creativity. Definitely recommend if visiting CDMX

Fabulous. A wonderful insight into the lives of Frida Kahlo and Diego Riviera. You must book your tickets online and well in advance as it's very popular.

A must-visit place in Mexico City in my opinion. Not only this visually curated and presented Frida’s life from childhood and throughout her prolific years with Diego Rivera, it also emphasized the artist’s resilience despite debilitating health and challenges. Her grace and impeccable style matched her inner strength.

Waiting for an hour in line to get in at the time slot, the site is over rated. I was expecting to see more of Frida’s paintings. There is nothing you have not seen in the documentaries. Only her clothes were worth the visit. For me, it was an opportunity to meet and chat with people who were in line from all over the world. One of the women I met, suggested a restaurant close to the museum was outstanding. Sumbra for lunch.
