It’s a very good museum for a quicker visit - if you’re a tourist, with limited time, I’d make sure to visit the anthropological museum first, but for a quiet afternoon it’s a lovey spot, and it’s kid friendly. The exhibits are a bit random, some great abstract stuff, some installation stuff, a few interesting video projects, not sure there’s a signature piece here, but it’s certainly got some interesting elements. You can be in and out in about an hour and a half, likely longer if you linger a lot, or shorter if you’re just glancing through it all.

The museum itself it very nice, great collection of arts and beautiful infrastructure. However, there were a couple employees being rude because our Asian ethnicity. They tried to make a non-existing line from the tile of the floor and followed us very closely during our visit. As a frequent gallery visitor, I do not appreciate to be disturbed while enjoying arts:/

I absolutely LOVED my experience at this museo. They had two immersive/interactive elements which I really enjoyed; both of which were musical ensembles. If you are looking for audio/visual art exhibitions, I’d highly recommend this museo

Architecturally an impressive work at a fantastic location, however, the exhibits were rather poor. Huge halls and ceilings, in a brutalist style do impress. While there are a few paintings by Tamayo, the rest of the exhibit seems poor and less well curated.

A weird, wonderful and thought-provoking museum. From exhibits about the tragedies in Kosovo to live performances about the conception of the artist, this place is sure to delight.

Quintessential art museum where you get to see the genius of Tamayo plus whatever is on… On the outside there’s a Fantastic Chadwick, Sosnowska & other sculptures If you enjoy modern art this is an absolute must. Plus you get the architecture of Teodoro González de León

I am filled up. I laughed and cried and had leaking eyes during the 1st acoustic exhibit. Plus the bird watching surrounding museum and curation was awesome. Will return absolutely and the permanent exhibits were closed so... Must return as many have recommended.

I walked around the galleries for around 45 mins. No clue whatsoever what I was looking at, but appeared perfectly cultured and intelligent to any onlookers. Job done 👍

An exceptional and world class contemporary art museum set within a beautiful park. The exhibits were thought provoking and engaging and included some of the best written descriptions of the installations I have seen anywhere in the world. Highly recommend!

Stunning, well curated art museum in a beautiful setting and architecture. Highly recommend. Did not understand the importance of rufino tamayo until visited. He is among the best muralists and artists in Mexico.

It’s a good place to visit within the Chapultepec area. The architecture of the museum is stunning but as ironic as it is I would have liked to see more of Rufino Tamayo’s work I felt like there weren’t enough pieces by him. The rest of the exhibition was rather plain but still a good visit.

I visited the museum to see Séance, the temporary theater production in the shipping container at the entrance to the museum. It was just okay (a little too Halloween, not enough actual Spiritist content), with great sound effects. The museum itself is an architectural showboat in direct contrast to the more successful Museum of Modern Art, directly across Reforma in the Park. The exhibition space is good and the curation very good to excellent.

Great Architecture and awesome place if you want to take pictures of the building itself, but the content of the galleries was not so great unfortunately.

Amazing museum. The works of Tamayo unfortunately are only a portion of the museum pieces. I had expected it to be mostly Tamayo works but it was a combination of several Mexican painters of the same era. There was also a section on Oriental art that I tried to find out the connection to Tamayo. They also had studies of a particular subject in about 30 panels.

If you’re looking to pass a little bit of time while waiting for something else, I’d recommend this. It is a large space, but was a bit disappointed in the variety of art present. It appeared a bit random and very spaced out. Had been hoping to spend longer there but walked through it fairly quickly.

The space is beautiful but the content is a bit underwhelming. The majority of the works in the museum are about the museum’s history itself. While there is interest in a selection, it felt a bit skewed and unbalanced in regards to other pieces

Nice building in a lovely place. Don’t forget to stop by the cafe afterwards, very nice to sit outside ! The place is big but I saw everything in an hour. On Sunday the museum is for free. Art was interesting but you need to like contemporary art as it can be quite vague.

Enjoyed my time there. Very interesting exhibits. Some are interactive. There's a netted suspension tube for walking around the museum. However, I wasn't permitted to enter because you have to be wearing tennis shoes. I was wearing hiking shoes (not boots) that have a rubber sole like tennis shoes and they wouldn't let me enter.

In general, I enjoy contemporary art. But this felt more like not so contemporary and more like modern art - and not really good one. A lot of things about Tamayo himself and the idea of the museum.. less Art by itself. I Don't know, I expected more from a museum of contemporary art.

This is a modestly sized museum that is easy to see everything in a short. The exhibits until September 4th 2022 are exceptional. Great expositions and a nice way to spend your days here. However the staff here are not friendly and are very rude. If you are a student and is a foreigner, you have to pay full price! Even though the website does not specify what kind of student pays or does not pay, they do not care if you are a foreign student. This seems very discriminatory and they were rude and had no logical explanation why foreign students would pay entry.

Really great museum. Plenty of exhibitions inside a beautiful building. There are about 4 video installations, some up to an hour long so you could be here for hours if you'd like. The videos don't have english subtitles which was a bummer.

Maybe major art fans will enjoy this but we left within 15min. Didn't see anything beautiful, thought provoking or interesting. Half the pieces looked like they had been drawn or painted by 5 year olds. Nice air conditioning on a hot day.

It's a nice building and has some cool art installations but not worth the 85 pesos. I was in and out within 20 minutes (and this is me reading everything and taking my time). I'd recommend skipping over it honestly and seeing other attractions nearby

gorgeous brutalist building in the centre of a park exhibiting an exquisite selection of international modern art - founded by the mexican artist Mr.Tamayo and he achieved exactly what he set out to do. If you don’t jive with conceptual or multi media art, this isn’t for you.

Take into consideration that the only one exhibition is working at this museum right now. It’s ragnar kjartansson exhibition. Although it was great to see it at the Tamayo museum, it certainly was not enough for 85$ per person. So be aware that you will not get to see everything at this museum cause other exhibitions are closed.
