This museum is a must see in Mexico City! They are multiple floors of different exhibits. There is also a rooftop that has a coffee bar and gift shop. Entrance was free, but you have to let them hold your bag once you get to the stairwell. Everyone was very nice and welcoming. I loved the small art they had that was very detailed. I highly recommend and would visit again with friends.

There is a café on the terrace but the elevator does not reach the floor where it is located. It is only accessible through the stairs.

A great museum always with a great exibition! And the best, is for free, Wednesday to Monday, from 10h to 18h. Going there, don't miss the visit to the Cafe and bookstore and the roof top. Has a nice view. The only thing is, the roof top isn't wheelchair accessible. The rest of the museum is. Great place to go by yourself, with friends, family or the special one. If you are in Mexico City don't let to go there.

Amazing museum with rich musical history. This museum is definitely the place to visit if you are interested in Carlos Monsiváis' personal musical collection. Musical pieces are detailed with great information and the place is really wide which allows great mobility and for many visitors to be in the same place without feeling claustrophobic. They have a rec area were you can enjoy planned activities and have fun. They also have a library with a great variety of musical books and other interests that are mentioned in the museum's expo. And lastly, at the very top they have a terrace were you can sit and have a bite. They offer coffee and other snacks to enjoy. It has a great view of Calle Madero.

Look this place seems pretty unassuming but it is really fun! All about Mexican art, music and film history with major names and writers... Even fun craft and find the art work scavenger hunt so it's fun for all ages \ (•◡•) /

I love this place, a gallery of the mexican popular art, most specifically cinema and cartoons documents, sculptures and paintings. Also, this place have a terrace where you can see part of the historic center of Mexico City. Colorful and nostalgic place, thanks to the writer Carlos Monsivais (RIP) for this amazing opportunity to see all their work.

Great museum. Simple but well done. And it’s free. Well designed.

Update: I am very impressed that the museum administration got back to me very promptly to let me know the elevator was working again. Too bad I am no longer in CDMX- next visit I will definitely visit. I was eager to see the exhibits and visit the rooftop terrace cafe but was informed the elevator was out of order. I am awaiting knee replacement, so the trek up the steep stairs from the street level entrance precluded a visit. I hope the museum gets the elevator repaired soon to accommodate mobility impaired visitors.

Every floor but the 4th was closed. 4th floor has some interesting photos, but the star of this location is the rooftop. Unparalleled views of surrounding structures.

Interesting exhibit on Mexican film. Free. Beautiful rooftop cafe. A great place to take a quiet moment in the middle of a busy neighborhood.

Very entertaining exhibit, with loads of artefacts. Free! I imagine it’s good for younger visitors. Don’t miss the café with great view upstairs (although the food and coffee are not particularly nice)

Visiting this museum has been by far one of the best experiences in my visits to Mexico City downtown. The place is not just free but conveniently located 2 blocks from the main plaza (called Zocalo) and unlike other museums, this museum opens on Mondays. By the time I went there there was an exhibition called "bibliofilia mexicana" which enlightened me about Mexican intellectual production through history. It got me by surprise that there were serious intellectuals in Mexico in the past, with really complete and good productions, a fact that is not much highlighted about Mexico...I would also recommend to visit the terrace of the museum, where you can enjoy a great view of the surroundings. There is a coffee place on the terrace and also a small bookstore.

They are supportive of racist staff and will not be a representation of the future here, I hope. Though while they employ people like Cynthia, please do not attend this establishment. SHE IS RUDE TO ALL.

Interesting museum, working elevator but very small. Just take the stairs. Clean bathrooms.

Currently under some renovation but at minimum it's worth the walk up to the small cafe and great view.

Nice & free museum. A lot of information is also available in English. Beautiful & economical terrace where you can enjoy after your visit!

It's nice but not a must. Just walking past it and looking at the façade is good enough. It's a free entrance though and usually has expositions on a certain subject going on. There's a terrace at the top with views but nothing spectacular.

A small museum on a few floors, quite interesting. It was also spacious so was nice being there. There is a rooftop with a nice view where you can have a drink

An excellent exhibition about Humberto Zendejas, a Mexican photographer who took a variety of photos from famous actors and actresses from Mexico and also from other countries.

Great place to go and see artists of many kind, some of them include Miguel Covarrubias, Lola Álvarez Bravo, José María Lupercio, Agustín Jiménez and my personal favourite Leopoldo Méndez. Not only that but it also includes a nice rooftop view with a cafeteria and mini library.

Admission is free. Small museum. 3 stories of exhibitions. I visited for the first time. Interesting. The Mexican movie star exhibit is interesting.

Always a nice experience to visit this museum. This time we went for the night of museums and enjoyed the Mexican cinema exhibition. It was so interesting, fun and enriching exhibition. Not crowded so we were able to enjoy every piece with calm.

The museum isn't exactly massive or extensive, but it's free and has a nice charm. The highlight is early the roof top access.
