(Translated by Google) A unique museum, perhaps the only Catholic church that completely lost its religious vocation to become the National Museum of Cartography. The exhibition of this museum is mostly graphic, mainly showing maps that date from different periods of time, from the viceroyalty to the present, however it also shows the old and most current instruments that have been used for the development of cartography in Mexico. , in addition to also showing some aspects related to the military theme, the history of Mexico and of course the history of the site itself. It is a medium-sized museum in which, in addition to the exhibition on cartography, you can also appreciate the beautiful architecture of what was once a church and a convent, where there are still some vestiges of how it was originally inside or appreciate the enclosure from the beautiful gardens that it has both in front as well as in the back. This museum is completely free and opens from Tuesday to Sunday, although access is a bit complicated if you go through the underbridge, but it is a safe path. Its location near Chapultepec, Tacubaya and the constituent metro make it an unmissable option for the whole family. As a recommendation, you have to be quite attentive to the signage that guides the museum and also take into account that it does not have a parking lot.

The originals are impressive and so is some of the equipment they've used in the past.

From the former convent of San Diego built in XVII century now remains only the church and some yards which survived the city advance and stays in an odd hard to reach place between freeways and modern bridges, but is well conserved and has a lot of historic maps and documents about ancient and modern Mexico and the description of how are those maps made before and nowadays. You must visit it, free entrance and an Oasis of peace in the middle of the frantic city life.

It took me a while to figure out how to get access to this place - it's completely surrounded by 3 busy roads. The deconsecrated church looks very out of place on an island among the traffic. But if you are interested in every aspect of map making (especially in Mexico), you will enjoy looking at not just old maps but the technique, equipment, and other things related to producing a map. If my Spanish was better I would have spent a long time there. But this is a niche interest - otherwise you will be disappointed by two dozen glass vitrines and an empty church. Also I think you might have to walk a bit to get there even with a taxi/Uber.

It’s a nice museum and also it was free! Though they don’t have a parking and you would need to walk even after Uber, so be careful we crossing a road

(Translated by Google) Interesting information and whoever protects it is very friendly and helpful. You can ask for guided tours. You find the sources and where to find the original maps. The only problem is its access, if you go by car you have to park it somewhere nearby because the entrance is pedestrian, a little hidden, maybe that's why there was no one.

(Translated by Google) The entrance is a slightly hidden overpass, there is a parking two blocks away. Interesting, there are very old maps to the most modern, as well as information on how they are made.

(Translated by Google) It is a small museum with beautiful architecture. The bad thing is that there is a lack of personnel to explain. There is no parking, and I recommend arriving by metrobus you get off at the Parque Lira station and go through the Miguel Hidalgo mayor's office.

Too bad services. Older Adults have necessities (restrooms) and there is no public services. Very raw basic necessities. Are they the same “quality” in México museums? 😩

(Translated by Google) I only rescue the building that is in very good condition. The horrible location, they were between two major arteries and getting there, parking, entering is very inconvenient. The lousy attention. There was literally no one to greet us, we were alone in the museum, we could have taken whatever or taken anything. All material is a copy or looks like maps from school magazines. As a curiosity it is fine but only that. Oh, and there are no toilets.
