Such a beautiful house! Carlos did a great job explaining the history of the house. The tour costs around USD 30 per person but I definitely recommend a visit for those who love design and architecture.

The last home designed in its entirety by noted architect Luis Barragán owes its existence to an impressive jacaranda tree. Built between 1975 and 1977, the house was completed as Barragán turned 75 years old. It would be the last work entirely his own before he passed in 1988. The structure includes many of his characteristic trademarks such as large volumes with minimalist decoration, water features, and monochrome walls in bright colors.

An astounding experience. I’ve been curious about this place for a while and I’m glad I made it. The owner’s son comprehensively took us through the founding story as to how Luis Barragan was commissioned to design this minimalistic aesthetic inspired by Moorish design and Rembrandt.

Beautiful house with a great group tour given by the son of the homeowners. Definitely email ahead of time to arrange a tour visit - it’s worth it for any architecture/design nerd!

Not worth $30 USA dollars for seeing just a living room and a pool. It would be nice if they were honest when you make the reservation so you know that you will only see two spaces and not the full house. Nice tour tho.

Beautiful house, but the tour was a bit disappointing. It seemed like the guide (the chubby guy that lives there) was doing us a favor to answer a couple of questions from the visitors, with such an arrogant attitude. Also, I was not comfortable being part of such a large group during the pandemic. It seemed like they cared more about the profit than staying safe.

It was on the pricey side, considering it was Mexico and I felt they were charging us in dollars. The owner did say Mexico calls it a historic/ heritage building but doesn't offer funding which leaves her to deal with the maintenance of it herself, which then I understood the price was justified, for Americans. It was a beautiful house and even though its currently being lived in, kept as true to the original design intent as ever.

Best “house/museum” experience imo. Intimate, small group experience. The host takes his time to tell the history/story. Plenty of time to explore different parts of the house. There’s no none sense like “photo fee” or feeling rushed. Note: he’ll come pick you/your group up at your appointment time. Don’t think the door bell works.

This place is pretty but outrageously overpriced! I appreciate it’s highly rated but to pay $30 to see some painted walls and a couple of rooms with interesting lighting is not worth it at all.

Super beautiful place! What made it even better was that our tour guide grew up in the house.

(Translated by Google) What a lousy service !! We paid so much money and they didn't want to give us the guide. The person in charge had laziness (especially the fat young man) Everyone in this house is very rude. We will never return, and we have the worst impression of Mexicans. The bathrooms are also very dirty. The young man who attended our guests was very rude and did not let them pass anywhere. I also begin to explain and tell something about his house only when our guests asked if he could please do this. And he told a little information, but with a face of exasperation and now. He almost took them out of his house in order to "guide." When I went a year ago, everyone was more or less friendly and it was a good experience. And that's why we invite our guests to your home today hoping they enjoy it too. Now I am very sad that we invite them to their home. And now they don't want to return our money. Y ahora no quieren regresar nuestro dinero.

Overpriced. The full house is not available for visit. The space needs more ambience and experience. The pool was dirty. Living room needs interior design ASAP. The pictures were more magical than real life. Good spot for taking instagram pictures and “engaging” on social media.

Casa Gilardi is a special and interesting space to explore. Built by Luis Berragon as a special commission for a bachelor house, it's a must for your architectural tour of Mexico City. This incredible place is still owned and lived in by the family that commissioned it and has been labeled as being part of the emotional architecture movement and it's not hard to see why. The property has many inspiring qualities and every angle you take in contains something else surprising. Do yourself a favor and put it on your list of things to see!

It was so much fun. The tour guide grew up in the house and was incredibly knowledgable about art, architecture and space. I highly recommend it! $600 pesos is a bit steep to only view a few spaces in the house, but it was great to pick the tour guides brain and feel the space intimately.

Would highly recommend getting a reservation if you are a fan of minimalistic architecture. This tour of one of Luis Barragán’s designed homes is a one of a kind experience. The son of the homeowner is very knowledgeable and attentive to any questions we had. This tour of the home felt intimate, emotional, and thoughtful.

The house is worth visiting, however for the treatment I feel that I do not like to visit it. (Original) La forma en la que explican la Casa es de muy mala gana , no hay un trato cordial. Every Barragan casa gets better. This tour is family run and well worth your time. They very generously allow you to see most of the house despite it being used as their family residence. Go for the colors, go for the light, go for inspiration. Unreal.

(Translated by Google) This work of Barragan is beautiful; but the cost for photographs is too high (you have to pay it even if you want photographs with the cell phone). You have to schedule the visit, but even when the house is small, they let several people in at the same time and it is a bit of a mess: most of the people who enter only go for instagram photographs or wedding sessions. There is no route or explanation, you have to request it. Hay que programar la visita, pero aún cuando la casa es pequeña, dejan entrar a varias personas al mismo tiempo y es un poco un caos: la mayoría de las personas que entran sólo van por fotografías para instagram o sesiones de boda. Wow... 300 to get in, scheduled, and 800 for photos. that's almost 50 us dollars and absolutely insane. I"m sure this place is gorgeous which is why i'm leaving something more than 1 star. I've been to museums all over the world, including many private residences that open their doors, and this price is outrageous to charge. It makes me wonder where the money goes. Many other private residences donate to local charities or have a foundation, but this is straight up price gouging and a bit of snobbery. If you really cared about sharing this with the public, you'd keep it by reservation and drop your prices. But I guess people will pay whatever for likes on instagram.

This place is unbelievably beautiful. A little tricky to get a tour scheduled, but that's to be expected since this is a private residence. Just make sure to give yourself some time to call or email to schedule a tour ahead of time. The tour "guide" (they really let you self-guide) is very knowledgeable about the house. Definitely worth a visit.

This house is gorgeous. It’s a little deceptive that it says it’s an art museum. It is actually a private home, and you can only visit at certain times with a guide. The guide grew up in this house and he told us stories about his childhood from this building.

Beautiful home! Making a reservation was easy. A little pricey - $600 MXN or $35 USD - but it’s worth the visit if you’re into architecture. Eames house in LA is about the same price and you don’t get to walk around inside that one. I enjoyed learning about the home and having the opportunity to explore on my own. Make sure to ask questions, they will all be answered.

An incredible opportunity to visit a Luis Barragan designed house. The home is still occupied by the owner who commossied the house in 1976. Our tour was given by his son who grew up in the house. It was a privilege to experience the house and meet our charming and knowledgeable guide

One of our favorite experienced while in Mexico City. You can visit and explore one of Baragan's last homes and it is actually still inhabited by the family it was designed for. There are a few rooms closed off but otherwise you are invited to explore every last detail at your own pace. It is striking, exciting and surprising and delivers a thrill for color and architecture. Make a reservation over Facebook and book in advance :)

This house is amazing. You get to tour a section of it on your own and then the original owners son will answer any questions you have. We had a very interesting discussion with him. I highly recommend seeing this space. It is similar to casa Luis Barragan but still special in it's own way. A little pricey.

Excellent tour by one of the sons in the Gilardi family who still live there. $300 is well worth it. Call or text to find a date and time. One of the only times you will see a house by such a prominent architect with a family still living there, the way it was intended to be used (unlike a museum). The use of light, space and especially colors is amazing. Casa Gilardi is recommended over the Barragan studio as the UNESCO site is very difficult to gain entry to.

(Translated by Google) A symbolic place, especially for people sensitive to architecture. But, in any case, a touching and subtle experience. I liked the attention given in my visit, the price I notice high unlike the most common museums in Mexico, but I think that for its use and its private conservation, it has that price. A quite pleasant talk with the guide, in addition to speaking English and Spanish to serve visitors of either language. Anyway, a visit that is not enough with just one hour. Una charla bastante amena con el guía, además de que habla Inglés y español para atender a visitantes de cualquiera de las dos lenguas. En fin, una visita que no basta con una sola hora.

As an architect, it was such a treat to visit this masterpiece of architect Luis Barragan. Our host, Eduardo, is the son of the original owner of the house, who grew up there and his family members still live there. That said, it was a very intimate experience to hear his stories and to learn how his family enjoyed the house. If you plan to visit, send an email to the address on their website, they are very responsive. Enjoy!
