This place was actually a nice surprise. We came here to walk around on the recommendation of our host. This park was wonderful, with a band playing and families walking around. Excellent family run restaurants on the perimeter.

The nice Alameda park with the stunning Morisco Kiosk (built in 1882 for international expo in New Orleans). Palm trees and abundance of tropical plants all around.

Beautiful example of 19th century globalisation : made for the New Orleans world's fair in 1884 and shipped back to Mexico, it's in a Moroccan style and is absolutely pristine.

Magically Realistic Rumored originally to be designed by Prester John, the blueprints for what eventually was to become the famed Kiosco Morisco, was smuggled out of China during the Sung’s southern hegemony of that country by a ragtag team of Magherbian travelers. Someone in their party is said to have added a personal touch to the design when the precious silk of the original was damaged by plague carrying fleas hitching a ride en route to the occident. These alterations effectively put the moor in the Morisco when the final design was completed by the Mexican engineer Ibarrola. Constructed of solid steal, the Kiosco was first presented at at the world fair in New Orleans in 1884-85. From there it continued up the mighty Mississippi to Saint Louis, where it was decided that due to its weight and unorthodox dimensions, the colossal’s peripatetic existence could no longer be kept up. After being disassembled and placed on fast moving river rafts, the journey home to Mexico begun. On its return to Mexico and the capital, it was first erected next to the Alameda Central where it for a time was used for drawing the national lottery. Because of its mysterious and opaque past, however, the Kiosco Morisco soon become suspected of harboring demonic and magical powers, and lottery winners were in turn thought to be selected my nefarious design and not the proverbial luck of the draw. As a result of this lasting controversy, the Kiosco finally found its current home at in Santa Maria.

Beautiful kiosk in Moorish style with wooden floor. Great as a gathering place. It was a featured pavilion at the New Universal Exhibition in New Orleans between 1884 and 1885, and at the St. Louis Fair in 1904. Then, it was transferred near Parque Alameda where the Monument to Benito Juarez was erected. Then, it finally found its home. Needs a little TLC. You can shop and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the area. A true gem!

Beautiful kiosk in Moorish style with wooden floor, very good for dancing (in fact you can find groups of people who gather to dance and rehearse) their decorations are fantastic as their lines of construction. A few minutes from downtown and in the center of a park, you should not miss it

I've seen this Kiosk in different shows and movies so I had to stop by and take a look for myself what it was like. Got there and the park is a good size and mostly clean except for some construction on one side. A couple of homeless people hanging around asking for money since they know tourists do stop by to take pictures. Once there I noticed the kiosk was bigger than i thought. There was music playing and as I got closer I saw a few people taking Cha Cha Cha dancing lessons. Mostly they were older people but they were having a good time. I took pictures of the place as well as some videos. Right in the middle there is a hole where light comes in and makes the place bright. It is very colorful and when you are inside it feels much bigger. The wooden floors are practical for the dancing. Once we took some pictures other people stopped by to do the same.

I've been coming here since I was in my teens (so for many many years now). It's still as beautiful as it's ever been — the businesses and goings on around have changed over the years, but the neighborhood has become more up-and-coming. In any case, this is a great and historic spot.

You should come here on a Sunday, the government/people organizes events/sports for people and it becomes very enjoyable to visit and buy some cocunut or mangos! Update... They installed new lights and new trash cans for doog poop bags but it still is a very messy place in which you need to keep looking to the ground to avoid stepping on something filthy. I know this is a problem of the actual people being there not taking care of their pets or even their trash. I still think this place can have a much better look and care.

It's one of those up and coming neighborhoods in Mexico City well worth the visit on a weekend. The main Moriah kiosk is amazing! And the Museum of the UNAM that covers geology and fossils in the in front of the square is small but still deserves a visit. At a different scale but the area reminds me of what downtown Coyoacán used to feel like many decades ago before the massive influx of turistas and people.

The park is very calm and the neighborhood is calm and with lots of trees. There are many coffee shops around, restaurant, ice cream and there are even "eco bici" bike stations, where for a small fee you can use a bicycle for an hour, all the times you want in a single day

Alameda is calmed and full of nice trees unfortunately the dog seaters take the dogs there and let them pee everywhere, some do not pick up the poops and the place smells badly. I wouldn’t spend more than 10 minutes there, not what the reviews say. In my opinion not worth it. The alameda though is surrounded by nice looking houses and apartments.

If you're hungry, that's the right place. We ordered breakfast and had the torta, which seriously huge, but very tasty. All the other dishes looked good as well.
