One of the best kept secrets in the city. Don’t be fooled by the entrance, which doesn’t look like an entry to a tourism site as it is a working office for the public education system. Tell the guards at the door you are here to see the murals and they will let you in. You will have to sign in and leave a piece of ID with the front desk. The murals are amazing, and there is also a museum section with electronic background on the murals as well as activities for kids. Don’t miss this if you are in Mexico City.

This place is a "must see". First off, it's free (you must sign in). Go during off hours and 1 1/2 hours before closing and you might get the whole place to yourself. Here you will find an extensive collection of murals by Diego that present a narrative of Mexican society/history; the top floor is a collection of communist propaganda. The artwork is simply amazing. I was moved by the beauty of this government building.

A fundamental place to understand the evolution of Mexican muralists, and especially Rivera early work. The building is not spectacular, but it is amazing to see how painters took advantage of awkward surfaces to emphasize contents.

Amazing place. I went there to see the frescoes of Diego Riviera. I intended to stay 15 minutes and stayed almost 2 hours! It's free and it is a must see in Mexico if you like history or painting.
