Taquería El Califa Condesa

Restaurant Mexican restaurant Taco restaurant

😐 Left really unimpressed with the food here. E.g my chicken breast taco...came with a unseasoned chicken breast and nothing else. No herbs, onion, nada. Hugely overpriced at over $80 MP for one when I've been paying $10 MP or less for delicious tacos all over city. 3 stars as service was efficient... People often mention tacos, service, good, great, taco, delicious, Mexico,

If you do not eat pork, try the chicken Pastor tacos ...it's amazing.

Loved this taco place. Try the costras. They also offer vegetarian options

This review will be short and sweet: I tried their tacos al pastor, which come on a corn tortilla with pineapple, onion, and cilantro toppings on the side. They’re so flavorful and delicious. We got them delivered and they traveled well. Just keep in mind the tacos are small, so order accordingly.

Great tacos in a trendy space. Decent beer selection and good desserts. You can order tacos with a "crust" that is fried cheese in a tortilla shape. The tacos were so good we all ordered a second round. The beef was amazing and just barely beat out the al pastor pork for the best taste.

Good tacos definitely need to try them, my favorite were pirata-arrachera and tacos de pastor.

These tacos are so good. Little me ate 4 by myself!! 🤤you’ve got to have ribeye with cheese. It’s perfection. My favorite combo is with just the two sauces combined. And the staff here are very nice and efficient! 5 stars!!!

Nice for a quick stop to grab food. I’m not a fan of beer, but it was the only alcohol on the menu so I wanted to try something new. I ordered the Michalada which is squeezed lime juice with your choice of beer + a salted rim. It was interesting! I would order it again. The Al Pastor taco was also good. We also ordered guac to share which was enjoyable. I recommend ordering the crust - it’s the best item on the menu.

A friend from Mexico City recommended it and I was not disappointed. Excellent service and food. Will definitely go back for a bigger meat feast! It was busy by about 7.30pm on a Tuesday.

Immaculate vibes and great authentic Mexican food. A few friends and I went here 3 times already and we’ve only been in CDMX for a week. Highly recommended. I forgot to take a photo of my tacos, but they are so good🌮😍

We came here as it was recommended by our hotel. The venue is functional but clean and the service is good. The tacos are nice and they offer a good variety including most being gluten free. This is a good place to stop if you are hungry and nearby but there are many places with tastier food at often cheaper prices!

Loud, busy, confusing place. BUT, exquisitely great food! Must try portobello crust! The vegetarian pastor is also so tasty. The pineapple slice adds so much flavor and texture. Yum 😋

We went to this taqueria for the first time on our last visit to Mexico City. It was a great find, we enjoyed the tacos, they did not disappoint! Service was good and fast. My favorite were the rib tacos and there was this very spice salsa I could not stop eating. Will go back on my next visit to Mexico City.

Big and impersonal, felt like a McDonald's of Tacos. They didn't bring us any vegetables (dish of tomatoes, onions, herbs etc.) and I got food poisoning diarrhea for over three days after eating there. Honestly, try a smaller resteraunt, this place was extremely standard and not all that cheap considering that the food was boring and gave me Delly bellies.

delicious tacos, service ok and they have a good selection of local craft beers, a bit on the pricey side but it's definitely on the fancy side

Their tacos are ok it’s just tortilla and protein. But they have good salsas. The chicken soup was terrible. And I had stomach issues after the meal. it was busy. It was a little on the pricey side for what it was. But nothing extreme.

It was Christmas and we needed food. We did not want to go to a hotel so opted for taco delivery. The tacos came hot but due to packaging and delivery, they were a bit soggy. Chips were not great but the 4 salsas were amazing. The black beans were good too.

This picture is of the chicken tacos with cheese. Tasted like a bland rubber pancake. We also had ribeye and steak tacos. No seasoning and tasteless with only a few hot sauces for condiments.

It's a chain and people really seem to like the place but I feel like I'm missing something. They're a decent takeout option and reliable but the food is not very exciting. You'd be best off ordering tacos from home and having some extras available to add.

Amazing spot. I go multiple times while in CDMX (usually after the bars). They have a ton of delicious food, but you would be missing out if you didn’t try the al pastor with a nice cold beer. Love their salsa selection as well.

Great tacos! Fast service, CC accepted. Clean and a variety of tacos to choose from.

Best rib-eye tacos I’ve tasted during my entire travel through Mexico! Beef soup is also great with a kick of spice!

  • 5/5 Byron B. 6 years ago on Google
Super friendly service, delicious food, and great beer selection too! I really like their salsas, which ranged from sweet to smokey to spicy. Be sure to try their Rib-Eye and El Pastor tacos. The gringas-style tacos typically come with a flour tortilla that have a yummy melted fresh cheese as their base. El Califa is more expensive than your typical taco place, but their attention to detail, service, food, and selection make it worth it.

Great tacos, excellent service and good prices. Beware if you have a tree nut allergy and order the brownie...there are Pecans which we found out the hard way as my daughter who has a tree nut allergy had an immediate reaction when we ordered it. I don't think it's a "thing" in Mexico to mark ingredients for foods so just beware. But even with this incident, we still would return because the food and service are spectacular!

Best restaurant I went to during my week visit in CDMX. So good, I came back twice. I recommend the beef sirloin ‘crust’ which has tender beef wrapped by gooey melted cheese with a grilled outer crust. Also don’t skip the basic Al Pastor taco and their guacamole. The service is fast and friendly and helpful for those who can’t speak Spanish. I can’t recommend this place enough.
