The best picnic spot on highway 1 between Big Sur and Carmel. What we did was stop at the Safeway in carmel and grab some to-go sushi and drinks. We drove about 30 minutes south to Hurricane Point, brough out some chairs, cozied up with the blanket, and whale watched. Being up so high was truly breathtaking and it’s on of the most beautiful parts of really the entire highway 1 drive. Bring an extra layer because it is windy! Also, if you have a drone, this is a great spot to fly it and it’s in green fly zone areas we were told by the local! Such a nice spot for a picnic. Highly recommend! Cheers mate!!!

Beautiful view from Highway No1 of the sea and the coast, you definitely have to stop here, a beautiful place

Hurricane Point is a large, paved turnout on the southbound side of Hwy 1, atop a very steep hillside. There is an exceptional view to the north featuring the Bixby Creek Bridge and Big Sur coastline. The view to the south is also exceptional, with looming Point Sur itself and it's sweeping surroundings. There are no trails. The view is right at the roadside.

One of the many stops along CA-1. Recommended southbound as it is on the right, and looking north, better lighting in the morning. Nice views of Bixby bridge along with the coastline, the rocks and the blue tones of the sea makes it very beautiful and worth taking pictures

Amazing views from a high spot. You can see big sur and Bixby Creek bridge from a different perspective. It feels like you're a thousand feet above the ocean.

It's the most accessible point along the coast, just outside of Carmel by the sea. You can't take a bad picture.

Extremely windy to the point our car door was about to get blown away by the wind when I opened it. I don't know if that's why it's called "hurricane" point view. It's a nice spot to stop and take some photos, but nothing extraordinary.

If we actually go along the entire Highway No. 1, the view is simply fantastic.....!!!!!!!! Of course only if the weather cooperates...🀭🀣🀣!!!!!!!. You can't stop being amazed, after every corner it gets more intense, it just doesn't get boring. Since you have to stop so often to take pictures, you should allow a lot of time for the route...!!!!!
