Seafood soup - absolutely incredible! For $7 a piece you get absolutely huge portion of the freshest shrimps, fish and other sea creatures:) Also the ceviche was really good for the same price, with amazing sauce and enormous amount of shrimps! The interior doesn’t look all that nice and clean, but the taste and freshness of the food deserves all 5 stars. Definitely a must visit while being in Santa Marta!

I saw other people happily eating at Merkabar but I was disappointed at the food, the cleanliness, the flies, and the smell of the server. It is cheap, though. $10 for a cazuela de mariscos, which didn’t agree with my stomach.

Depends how you look at affordable. For Columbia 35k pesos per dish is usually a range of fine dining. This was pretty shabby place for the price. Maybe they overcharged me. I had seafood soup, it was ok. Wouldn't go back.

Great local food! Delicious fish with coconut rice. Typical old house near the center. It's not fancy at all but it is really original!!! 100% recommended. A tiny bit pricy based on the place, but great food. 164.000 4 persons, 3 fish and a sea food kind of soup, all with patacón and coconut rice
