We were very happy with Wiwa tours and would definitely recommend this one. We were only with 8 people and they told us that they keep the groups smaller and otherwise do multiple groups. It’s best to have a group size between 8-12 people for such a hike, so perfect for us. We had Eliseo as guide and Jose as translator. Both were really good and helpful. The plus of this tour is the use of indigenous people, which adds a lot of extra information to it. Since the tours all have a similar price, this makes the difference for us. You visit most of the same camps so it’s all about the people and information you get.

The amount of bad things on the tour vastly outweighs the good, but I'd like to start out positive. Cuidad perdida itself and the trek were awesome. Now the bad...Javier, our "translator" and "guide" sure seemed like a junky that they picked up off of the street. His translating was not good, he lied constantly and some of those lies were potentially dangerous for the other tourists. He told me to drink water that was not potable and he had the tourists pass behind a random horse within kicking range. He did not tell thw group when water stations existed. He offered no actual knowledge of the trek/jungle/outdoors and instead talked constantly, telling wildly inappropriate/unfunny jokes, lying, and talking about drugs in a way that would not be normal for even a Colombian tour. He offered me cocaine and had a lot of street knowledge about cocaine, crack, and heroin. He and the other guide did not have a 1st aid kit or a plan if there was an emergency. Not to mention, that he is one of the most annoying people I have ever been around. When our group ran out of water (which was often because wiwa tours was not prepared and did not refill the water dispensers despite ample time to do so) he had us steal water from Expo tours without asking them 1st. Literally all of our meals were disgustingly unhealthy and lacked nourishment. They used the cheapest possible ingredients and we were given smaller portions than literally all of the other groups. Our meals never had the "expensive" items that the other groups had as well. Our worst meal was generic frosted flakes in sugar yogurt, fruit, and a sugar drink. Our indigenous "guide" was nice enough, but spent about half of the trip hanging out with his friends rather than guiding. I'm not a man of expectations, but for the amount of money we paid we all deserved a better experience. I tried to contact wiwa tours before writing my review but they could not care less. Go with expo tours or literally anyone else for a more safe and enjoyable experience.

Just perfect, After searching for an agency to do a 4 day trek in Ciudad Perdida and thinking about it, I chose Wiwa tour... We started the trek on Wednesday 16th March. It was above my expectations, we were a group of 7 and slept in beds and camps that were just for us... Our cook Diana was always smiling and ready to prepare us good food for us. Our translator Daniel was super nice with a good sense of humour and finally our guide Rafa (of Indian origin) was simply wonderful with his style and his white outfit, we were very lucky to have been able to learn more about him, his culture, his traditions and about the other Indian tribes around a good campfire that we make every night. It was a magical experience even if the trek was a bit difficult it was worth it. I had a great experience with this agency which I would definitely recommend! And to finish, our group was fabulous, what a great meeting ;-)

Very nice tour provided by the very friendly indigenous Wiwas and others. Best operators for this trek. I went with my doughter 10 years an my whife 45 years and it was not easy for them. My whife got big pain in her knee nur could ride back on a mule. My doughter was fine, it was her first track over 4 days, so her problem just was in her mind due to a lack of self enpowerment. But she came along due to talking with others it playing games like counting butterflies or singing songs. Myself experienced pain in the hardened muskles afterwards, because i did not bend my muscles after each daytour!!!

Was a beautiful experience. We were the only group who went to Lost City with a native guide. We met a Shaman and slept in a Wiwa village.

When i reserve a trip wiwa tour with them i thought that i will visiting the wiwa comionity .. but in fact No .. it was to visit only the farm of one family .. so i see only the son and his mom .. i was so disappointed .. it was to see this family and to enjoy the nature .. if i would know it's like this won't come and pay all of this money 💰 Beside it's very deficult rouds Mr khosie and his mother where very kind .. the food was also very good .. but it was misunderstood about the trip it self .. so i blame the agency they should explain that .. and not to call it Wiwa trip , just to find another name

We had Eliseo as our guide, he was knowledgeable but it was sometimes hard to get all the information due to the size of the group, 21 people was a little too much. That was obviously not wiwas fault on I am guessing due to our start on Sunday. Since everyone writes here what to bring and what not, and half of them write for the wrong season I will add some things for the rainy seasons (after April). Bring extra socks, like a lot, your shoes will never dry but better go in wet shoes with dry socks then with wet. Forget the sundals to cross rivers, go barfoot, its what we did... Also do not wear sneakers, either trekking shoes or hiking boots, everything else is nonsense. In the rain it was so slippery... Also I had a waterproof backpack, it was very cheep and sooooo good. Have fun...

If you want the best experience going to Ciudad perdida, you need to have the best guide for it and that's Rafael. Rafael is an amazing person and a wonderful person. His story is amazing. Hard worker 👷. Gracias por todo Rafael

A great 4-day trek to Ciudad Perdida with Wiwa Tour. It was great to learn from the indigenous Wiwa and Kogui people about their history and cultures. Wiwa Tours seemed like the most organized and respectful tour group on the trail. The food and snacks were also plentiful and delicious. We slept in bunk beds each night that came with a bug net, bottom sheet, blanket, and pillow. On day one we hiked 3.5mi to Vista Hermosa Campsite, day two 8mi to Paso Lorenzo Campsite, day three 10mi to Ciudad Perdida then Wiwa Campsite, and day four 8mi to hike out for a total of almost 30mi and 9,000ft of elevation gain. It was hard, but totally worth it!

There’s a bunch of companies offering all the same tours to the Ciudad Perdida. From what we could see, Wiwa Tour is simply the best one, here’s why: Our guide was Rafael, an indigenous born in the Wiwa community. Rafa doesn’t like to walk with other groups, so he always plans the journey to avoid crowded paths and busy dorms. From day one we felt we were lucky to be with him, because we could see from time to time where other groups were sleeping (large dorms with multiple groups) and compare it with where we were sleeping (small dorms run by indigenous people). We could then really enjoy the landscapes and the magical atmosphere without feeling the human contamination. Rafa is indigenous, and has always lived as one. He would take any chance to show us something about his culture, his ways of living, but also explain to us those of the other three communities. He would always give us the scientific perspective to certain events but also the cosmogonical one. We could appreciate his genuine wish to share his culture with us, and we never felt it was something ‘forced’ by his role as a tourist guide. The trekking itself is though. It’s 60km long with very steep ups and downs, aaall the time. You should consider if you are ready for it before signing up, because you won’t make it to the top unless you are in decent shape and with a permanent positive mindset. The upside of going with Wiwa Tour is that food is good and abundant, pauses are well planned and dorms are the most comfortable you can get. On a final note, please don’t be one of those tourists who just wanna get to the top to take an instagrammable picture. The Ciudad Perdida is obviously the final goal, but you should be ready to enjoy every minute of the whole adventure in this sacred place. Gracias Shemacu, fue un privilegio subir con usted. Leonardo y Giulia

Magical Experience! Wiwa Tours is the best and only choice to make this trek for many reasons. They run a great tour. The groups are smaller and more personal. The accommodations are more private and comfortable. The food (prepared for us by the amazing Diana) is delicious, sustaining and provided with love. Rafa, our guide, was a kind, generous, patient, and caring chaperone to all of us who entrusted our safety and comfort in his hands. And Elkin, our translator, brought knowledge and experience that was a welcomed addition to our group. But mostly, Wiwa Tours is the best choice, because who else can tell the story of this mystical and achingly beautiful place? Only Wiwa Tours allows the experience of this breathtaking trek through the lush lands and ancient communities up to their living spiritual grounds as the guests of indigenous people who are the rightful owners and continuous stewards. If you want to trample through the jungle with a fast moving pack to check this off your bucket list - choose the other tours. If you want to learn or catch a glimpse of a culture and life and worldview outside of Instagram trends and usual talking points - come with your eyes, minds, and hearts open to Wiwa Tours. This is a hard hike so come fit and prepared. Talk less. Listen and look more. It's worth it.

So many déceptions. We have booked a tour in la Guajira (the desert), a tour which costed us around 110€/pers (quite expensive here). It's a two days tour starting from Santa Marta. First of all we never got information about preparations, things to cary on (like water, hot cloches for the night). We had an appointment at the hotel at 4.30 am the first day. The thing is we couldn't stay inside because we couldn't the the bus arriving. So we waited outside 45 Minutes with no information. We thought they had forgotten us. Then when the bus arrived : no excuses. After having collected every members of the excursion in the bus (very old bus with really bad dampers), We finaly started the tour arround 6.30 am. The first day was a long Journey to get to the point, but we knew that. We arrived at Cabo DE la Vela in the desert and visited the pilon de azucar. Worth to be seing. During the day we had lunches in the same restaurant. Same meels. Some were proposed Langustines, but not us. When I realised that, I asked for the diner this plate. I was told that There were no more. The problem is some people had it for diner. Then started the night in hamacs on the beatch. Really humid, uncofortable, and noisy. In the morning, waken up by a horn of a car at 5.30 we took a breakfast and went to the salt "factory". Nothing different from other contries' factories. We stoped at Riohacha to eat and to visit. The City is not beautiful and There is nothing to do. The guide gave us 1h after the lunch. But at the meeting point we waited one hour more. 40 degres, No information. The bus had to change a wheel. But no information still, while guide was informed and not far from here. Then took the bus and made a longgggggg Journey. I am desapointed about all this things compared with the price. But also, the tour could be magnificient by visiting families or other things original. Moreover the guide explained us some things but didn't do his job. He should have explained us lot of things insted of sleeping at the back of the bus. We recomand to make such a tour but with more than two days and deffinitely with another company

You have to go to the ciudad perdida with this agency since this is the only one providing a service with indigenous. Wiwa are very shy so do not hesitate to ask them question they will slowly but surely open up.

The best tour company to go to the lost city in my opinion. It is an expensive journey but I have no regret doing it with Wiwa for the better understanding of the Sierra Nevada history and culture, the wonderful adventure and fantastic landscapes! Wiwa tour is very professional, guides are indigenous so they can share their culture and story which makes the trip even more valuable and interesting. The food is delicious and the chefs are super kind as well. Recommend 200% this tour if you want to get to know more about the history of the Sierra Nevada. Muchas gracias a Jose, Manuelito, Elkin y todo la equipa para compartir 😊🙏

WARNING regarding WIWA TOUR agency tours to LA GUAJIRA La Guajira really is a beautiful and exceptionnal place. Please go there, with another agency or by yourself. I had a terrible experience this December with WIWA TOUR. First of all, WIWA Tour does not realize the tour itself, it subcontracts it to another agency, Wayuu Tours. 1. Regarding the food and hostels. We were promised local food and local housing. It was nothing like it. We arrived in a place with hundreds of tourists, completely isolated from the village of Cabo de la Vella, were the food served in chain as a buffet was disgusting. The agency had planned that we would eat there for lunch, diner and breakfast. The atmosphere was everything but local, you could find the same hostel in Punta Cana. We asked the driver to drop us in the village to see the atmosphere look at some shops and restaurants and take us back 2 hours later. The agency refused that treatment. Does anyone want to do a 5 hours drive to go to Cabo de la Vela and not see Cabo de la Vela ? We also got food poisoned in the last restaurant we had lunch on the way back, great way to end our trip ... 2. Regarding the car. It had no seatbelts at the back. At night, we had a flat tire and were very lucky to find another car passing by as our driver had no idea as to how to replace it. We were also told that we would be back in Santa Marta at 5pm and booked a plane accordingly. The car booked for us to Santa Marta was scheduled at 3:30pm and it is a 3 hours drive to Santa Marta... 3. Regarding the different steps of the tour. Well you should expect to find everywhere you go around 80 other 4x4. Yes, all the tours propose to go to the same place at the same time. La Guajira is supposed to give you a feeling of calm and serenity. But at some point it felt like Disneyland. 4. Regarding our contacts with the Wayuu culture. The driver was supposed to be our guide as well and a Wayuu. However only very few explanations were given. No meal with the locals, no interactions but the giving of cookies through the windows of our big 4x4. It feels unconfortable to come to such a beautiful place and ruin it as all the food you give is in plastic and plastic is not treated there. We were told that some people bought a pack of apple or big bottles of water, it seems like a better idea than the small water bags our driver suggested. La Guajira is a beautiful place. And we realized once there that YOU CAN GO THERE BY YOURSELF. You can easily take public transports to Cabo and then find locals to take you to Punta Galinas. So please do it !!!

We did the 5-day Ciudad Perdida trek and it was a wonderful experience. Our guides Miguel and Carlos were great and I recommend them 100%. The food was in charge of Jose Luis who was always very attentive to the different dietary requirements of the group members and who was always attentive to offering us coffee and hot chocolate :) The walk can be demanding for people who do not do much physical activity, however there are rest points where you can hydrate and eat fruit along the way, which makes it much more pleasant. It is an experience that I highly recommend, the landscapes are beautiful and everything is so well organized that although in general the price is high, the experience is worth it.

Excellent company with a good ethos and good guides; Sebastien and Jose in particular, who I personally spent most of my time on the hike with. Really recommend these guys and the insight into the indigenous cultures is excellent.

The best tour company for Cuidad Pérdida. Our guide Jose Ramon, our translator Elkin, and our cook Sandra each went above and beyond for making the experience unforgettable. If you are considering a variety of companies, Wiwa is the best choice without a doubt. The only company with indigenous ownership and the best way to have a great experience. We had the camp to ourselves two different nights courtesy of Wiwa and skipped the expo tour crowds. Lovely experience overall.

A great experience from the beginning to the end. Before the tour, they provided us all the information on the trip. The experience was unique thanks to the staff: the guide, the chef, and all the other people who manage the full adventure. Thanks to our guide, we have learnt a lot about the lost city but also about the locals who live there. This seems to be the best advantage of choosing this agency. In addition, the food was delicious (and more than enough). I recommend it at 100% !!!!!

Epic fail by Wiwa Tours. I arrived in Santa Marta and needed a couple items for the trek like river shoes and a rain jacket and no one that I communicated with at Wiwa could assist. A town with a trekking economy has no store to buy gear?! I've been to Nepal and there's stores EVERYWHERE with quality gear. I also inquired about their advertised service to carry gear and again no appropriate response. Ultimately, they were unprofessional and I took the red flag as a cue, lost $36, and decided not to do the tour with Wiwa. Stay away from Wiwa and Santa Marta, the whole town is dirty and full of scams just for tourists. This place has an insane amount of potential but the people here choose to rip off tourists one dollar at a time instead of creating a legitimate bustling tourist economy. I've also done a "snorkeling and private beach tour" with another company which again was a 100% rip off. If you do come here get as far away from Santa Marta as possible. I've heard good things about Minca. I'll never go back.

Extremely well organised company with invaluable responsible guides. Three Joses and one Pedro took the very best care of our group of 15 hikers. Thanks to our cooks Erika and Ana who prepared extraordinary meals, and sufficient rest in between strenuous hikes we mastered the 75km tour up and down and up and down to the Lost City, this mysterious place filled with positive energy and joy. Heat, sun, pouring rain, blisters, swollen feet, tarantulas, we had it all. But would do it again anytime we return to this wonderful land of the Tayrona.

Excellent !!! An unique experience !!! This is the only touristic agency that operate the trek to Lost City all integrated by Local Indigenous Staff at the Caribbean region at north territory of Colombia. Doing the trek to "La Ciudad Perdida" you will take the opportunity to learn a lot about Sierra Nevada's Indigenous people, their culture and traditions, and the most special thing is you can be closer to natives communities and sure visit many different holly places like "the Sacred Waterfall 🏔️🔥🐆🦅🏹🌕✊🏽

Went with Wiwa for the authenticity. Unfortunately dod not make it tonLost city due to a fall in the mud and two broke bones on one arm. Hiked the way back and from there was taken to a clinic. Andres provided excellent support and the agency covered all the costs for x-ray, cast , medicines. He even got le a cake for my birthday. Breaking something is not what you think of when picking an tour agency but as it happens fast, it's good to know you are in good hands and that's the case with Wiwa.

I just did the Lost City trek last week and was completely blown away by the quality of Wiwa's tour service. David, the English translator, was an absolute pleasure to hike with. He went above and beyond to explain everything and always made sure we had everything we needed. The food was incredible. I could never have expected to be eating so well on the trail. The hike itself was beyond amazing. It was challenging but not too hard. Our guides always made sure we were comfortable. We took breaks accordingly and there were snacks (fruit/juices) along the way. The information we received along the way was incredibly thorough. Our guides emphasized the history and significance of everything. They always made sure that all of our questions were answered. This was out of Wiwa's control, but the other people on our hike were such a joy and made the experience very memorable for us. We couldn't have asked for a better group to do this trip with. Thank you so much for everything!

I had a reservation for 3-6 january, for 2 people. Had to cancel 4 days before due to COVID! I asked for a reimburse, but they said it ws not possible and offer me to do the tour another moment during the year, but I do NOT live in Colombia so that option did not work for me. Since we booked with double the required value (10% and we paid around 20%) I asked for that difference but they simply stoped responding my emails. When I wrote to ask for info and book a tour, they were so responsive and kind, but now they have just disappeared. I would like to do this tour one day, but definitely I will NOT do it with Wiwa Tour!!

Pros: 1- well planned tour and good communication 2- good food and snacks served 3- the camps were clean and tidy Cons: 1-Very poor English translator. 2- The physical readiness of the group was not at the same level. The whole group was held back because of 2-3 older people. 3- The tour lead could not keep onto his own words. Made plans to wake up at 4:40 am and leave at 5:00 am but practically he woke up later than us and we left no sooner than 6:20 am. 4- I felt being discriminated against when one night asked for more food and the translator only gave me fried and salad while anyone else who asked for more food got meat + fries + salad. Overall they are good team but need to be more professional. The best part of the teams were the cooks.

We booked a 3-day tour of la Guajira La Guajira is a wonderful place, but don’t go with this agency...! My advice if you wish to make a trip there: 1) Go to Punta Gallinas The way there and back is by far the most beautiful part of the trip. 2) Avoid hiring a full tour (agency) too much in advance and remain in control of what you eat and where you sleep The best way there is to go is by yourself to Riohacha > Cabo de la Vela > Punta Gallinas and find drivers there to bring you to the different spots and beaches on the way. It’s cheaper and more flexible, but not for everyone of course. Or hire an agency. It’s simpler but make sure that : - you can chose where you eat at Cabo de la vela once you are there at night (it’s super safe and you can take time to go through the market while choosing your restaurant). Say that you will pay for it, the food is cheap and really good. - you do sleep at Cabo de la Vela and not in some place nearby (the name is Uttah I think. It’s just awful) - !! you don’t take Wiwa (Santa Marta) or Wayuu Tours (Riohacha) for your agency ;) it was ours and we chose very poorly... 3) be eco-friendly Once you begin the trip, you will stop at a market to buy Water and Candies to offer the kids on the way. Understand that your driver and the agency are not Wayuu (indigenous), they kind of keep he population « happy » by offering these treats. However, all these food packagings end up on the ground and are slowly ruining the landscape and the candies are also the only food the kids will get... My advice —>> just buy apples and other fruits easy to transports ! And Big bottles of water they can reuse afterwards. It’s the most convenient way for you to limit your impact on this incredible land. Enjoy ✌️✌️

My partner and I travelled to Ciudad Perida and we’re very happy we went with Wiwa over the others in SM. While almost all company’s have the same formula and prices, Wiwa differentiate themselves by using only indigenous guides. We had a group of 7 which was much smaller then 20+groups we saw on the trail (this is perhaps more good luck on timing - I recommend checking group sizes the day before you book). Our lead guide Raphael and translator Erika did a great job making our little group a family and enlightening us every night with an opportunity for stories and extensive Q&A - I’ve done a lot of trekking hikes around the world and this touch (highlighting the amazing indigenous vibrancy and survival in Sierr Nevada) made it one of the best. Highly recommend!

Great experience. Very nice guides. Toursize: We got lucky and our group was only 5 tourists (close to Christmas). But they can go up to 20 we heard. Indigenous guides: Only here you get an indigenous guide. Jose Domingo was always cool and gave good explanations to all our questions. Thanks Translator: Our translator was Luis from Venezuela. A fun and dedicated guy who was very inclusive with everyone. Thanks Comparison with other tours: We met the other tours and their offering seemed more trimmed for efficiency and did not contain local guides. Also they were larger groups with many Americans. Maybe we got lucky with our small group but it felt more personalized. Food and lodging: Protein with every meal and the beds/hammocks were sufficient. I cleaned every plate, noone from our group got sick and I always slept without issues. Thanks for the food chef Diego. What to bring: Small bag, don't overpack. Good shoes. Good fitness. Room for improvement: I didn't like the gasoline smell in the 4wd. I suggest you invest in some vehicle repairs. On the third night (just before the lost city) the camp didn't provide mosquito nets for the guides but only for tourists.

(Translated by Google) A really demanding tour, full of beautiful landscapes and beautiful places. It is interesting to know a little about indigenous traditions, their beliefs and customs. Strength is required to walk for so many days but it's worth it (Original) Un recorrido realmente exigente, lleno de hermosos paisajes y bellos lugares. Es interesante conocer un poco sobre las tradiciones de los indígenas, sus creencias y costumbres. Se requiere fortaleza para caminar durante tantos días pero vale la pena

(Translated by Google) Super experience in the ciudad perdida. Our guide, Victor very friendly and always ready to answer our questions or help us with a smile! Black point on the other hand on the size of the group: we were 34! So much too much for this 4-day experience. Frankly not correct given the very high price we pay!

(Translated by Google) This is the agency that must be chosen for the trek of the ciudad perdida! Everything was perfect, an experience with a prominent indigenous guide and the investment of our money in things that make sense. That's responsible tourism. (Original) C'est l'agence qu'il faut choisir pour le trek de la ciudad perdida ! Tout était parfait, une expérience avec un guide indigène marquante et l'investissement de notre argent dans des choses qui ont du sens. C'est ça le tourisme responsable.

(Translated by Google) As expected, the tour was very exhausting (I am 60 and not very well trained), but all (especially our translator José) helped me to experience this incredible place. Our indigenous guides Francisco and Patricio have also brought us closer to the culture of Wiwa, which is so closely associated with Tejuna. A lot of praise to our chef, who provided us with great food throughout the trek!

Well worth the physical effort and $$$. Trek is well organized, good food. Bonus points to Wiwa for hiring only indigenous guides.

(Translated by Google) The trek with wiwa tour was very good. Our guide José was very good he regularly gave us information about the wiwa culture. For the trek he explained to us each time the course heights etc. His rating was generally just a few minutes - the food was very good and more than adequate. We stayed 2 nights in bed and one in a hammock. (To answer another comment there was no mule service for bags only for food and I did not see any other groups using miles for bags) I really recommend this agency.

The best agency to do the Lost City tour. Our guide José Mojica was very kind, and with him we lived a unique experience thanks to his authenticity. We did a welcoming ritual when we arrived at the lost city which was important to him and his indigenous culture. Our chef William, always attentive and with a huge smile, infected us with his happiness all the time. We did the 5-day tour and although the website describes the easiest fourth day if you decide to do all 5 days, in my opinion the fourth day was the most difficult day of the entire tour. The fifth day was very easy, a 2 and a half hour walk and the camp on the fourth night is one of the most beautiful and comfortable.

Incredible experience in a lost city!! I had the fortune of sharing with 3 great guides from the indigenous colony, RAFAEL, ELICEO AND BENJAMIN, incredible human beings!! 💪🙃🤗 just like JULIO and PATRICIO, their assistants, and nothing to say about YAINER LUIS AND CLAUDIA who delighted us with their delicious dishes👍👏🧆🍜🍛 and the great translator EFREN who always made us laugh with his witticisms 🤣😅, they were 4 days where we gave our best and proved that it is possible!!.. it was something very uplifting, we realized the wonders that our beautiful country has!!🇨🇴🇨🇴.. it was very DEMANDING, the walk but it was worth it, WIWA TOUR the agency was very responsible and met all my expectations...🤗👏👍🫶 I recommend them 1000% PERCENT!! 🥇💯💫💥

😠 The place is very nice, however, they charge you a ticket for "ecological", "nature reserve" purposes but the drinks they sell are canned with plastic cigarettes and paper napkins. And the ecological? I would say more consistency in marketing that they want to sell.

👍 BE CAREFUL ON THIS PATH THEY STEAL. On September 23, 2022, 3 men each on motorcycles robbed us (early in the morning), they intimidated us and stole our bags with our cell phones. We had already gone several times and we did so confidently because nothing ever happened to us, you even see people who...
