A great boutique hotel a few blocks from the restaurant district. An oasis in a less desirable part of town but certainly worth a visit. Daylight walking much different then after dark and different again after 11. Perhaps a taxi would be recommended if coming here later into the evening. I have shown a two Storey room but there are many different types of rooms. No elevators so if you need a first or second floor it's best ask ahead for a floor. I have stayed in several places here and this is the best value for me. Management seems excellent.

Wife and myself came to Santa Marta to enjoy a comfortable vacation, we have travelled all over Colombia quite extensively, we have experienced a vast range of accommodations throughout the country. Our stay has been exceptional since we arrived to the very end. During a 4 night stay, the hotel’s staff were all considerate, attentive, and helpful. We were able to count on them for insights regarding the area, where to eat, what to do, any safety tips to keep in mind, etc. breakfast is included in your stay, and it is a delicious full breakfast with many options to vary every day. Our room was comfortable and spacious, and was kept clean every single day. We enjoyed the beaches and activities that Santa Marta has to offer and would come back to a pleasant stay, staff, and amenities. The hotel has various floors in what feels almost like a waterfall of architecture, there are two large pools on the main floor, with two separate jacuzzis on two separate floors above. Every time i travel with my wife it is important for me to give her the best experience i can, and Casa Carolina certainly helped me accomplish that.

The hotel in a general sense is very aesthetically pleasing. The rooms are nice and spacious, but there was a leak in our roof after a rainfall one morning. Staff are pleasant enough. Although I found experiences in other hotels in Colombia more welcoming. I also did not feel safe in the area where the hotel was located. Didn’t go out past 9/10pm because of this.

Had a couples massage there and spent all day there. If you are looking to get away from the hustle of Santa Marta this is the place to hide out.

Where do I begin with how amazing this hotel is… delicious food (we ended up eating all 3 meals here), the breakfast was fantastic and is included, the pool was pristine, the rooms had strong AC, the beds were massive and comfortable, everything was perfect. We regret not booking our entire stay at Casa Carolina

A recommendation for Sta. Marta! We’ll definitely go back! We stayed 2 nights on our trip to Tayrona National Park and had a great time. The hotel is located on a side street in the historic center - a very quiet location. A wonderful courtyard awaits you, with two pools. They serve a great breakfast - and we also enjoyed dinner in their restaurant. The staff is so friendly and helpful with information - and also transportation. Our double room had a large comfy Queen-size bed. Everything is very clean and well maintained. The WiFi was OK, too. Important for guests with restrictions; it has no elevator to the upper floors! All in all, a really great experience - and I’d love to come again!

The hotel, on the outside, is decorated with beautiful flowers. One could never imagine what you are about to see as you walk through the doors. It is an 18th century house that was restored and turned into a hotel. It really does take you back when you enter. The service is amazing. Everyone is super polite and eager to help in any way they can. We got the apartment which is two floors and offers the most beautiful views both at night and in the morning. We had a small mishap with water coming into the apartment and they immediately went to clean up, apologized, and gave us different options including changing rooms. They truly know the meaning of customer service.

The hotel is even more beautiful than what it looks like in the pictures. Really good service.

The place was beautiful, very good for pictures and relaxing. I liked that it has various pools throughout the building and also very good service. We tried the eggplant parmesan and it was really good!

This is our 3rd time staying at Casa Carolina and it’s for a good reason! The hotel is beautifully renovated, service is top notch and the restaurant is of great quality. It’s a great relaxing spot for back packers that want a break from dorm rooms and hammocks or for families that want a high-end atmosphere at the heart of SantaMarta.

Despite as a non hotel guest having to sign in with ID , we enjoyed the delicious “buffet’ breakfast. We had the Picado eggs, with beef enchilada , mandarina juice and cold chocolate drink. The tropical fruit plate was fresh. Lovely! The ambience in the courtyard is pretty and relaxing .

Wonderful paradise in the middle of Santa Marta! Although it is not in a great neighbourhood, the hotel is a peace haven! You enter and are welcomed by friendly staff, the place is just amazing, it looks amazingly wonderful! A peaceful swimming pool in the middle of the patio, surrounded by flowers! The rooms are really nice as well, although there are small windows without blinds on top of each door and windows that let in a lot of light, so it's not dark at night. Nonetheless wonderful stay in this little heaven and the staff was so helpful that they offered to help us even days after we had checked out!

Really impressed with this hotel. A larger than expected gem hidden in the small streets of Santa Marta. Our Bedroom, on the first floor, was spacious with a generous en-suite bathroom, plenty of room to spread out after a long flight and a really comfortable bed. The hotel itself is a wonderfully modernised collection of old local buidings around a central courtyard, which itself has been transformed to include a pool to relax in and plenty of seating where you kick back and read or take food and drinks from the adjacent bar & dining area. All of the reception and kitchen staff were really friendly and helpful. Loved our couple of nights here.

Hotel was spacious with clean rooms. The courtyard was super cute with a pool, lounging chairs, and right next to the bar/restaurant. Hotel staff was friendly and accommodating. It's about a 5 minute walk to the main center where the bars, clubs and restaurants are. The area gets a little dodgy if you venture a block too far though. Would definitely stay here again

Good Hotel and great location. Food was OK, not great. There were some mosquitos in the room due to gaps in the doors, windows. The staff were very nice and helpful. My main issue is that they tripple charged me for my stay. I was over charged about $1,200 USD and it took me 3 MONTHS and over a dozen emails to get my money back. Be careful with these guys! I recomend paying cash if you choose to stay here.

We booked the two bedroom apartment and were not disappointed. It was really nice. We only stayed two nights and had activities planned during the day so we didn’t get to enjoy the space as much as we would have liked. It was legit a two bedroom apartment with two private outdoor spaces and two bathrooms. We also loved breakfast each morning which was included and had a couple alcoholic beverages one afternoon which were delicious. Staff was very friendly and the front desk spoke English which was very helpful. Also on the day we checked out, we had them hold our bags because we had planned a trip to Minca. They had also arranged a car after the trip for us to take to our next destination. The tour in Minca was running late and we were able to communicate with the hotel over what’s app. They were so responsive, updated the car reservation, and even called our next hotel for us to tell them our arrival time and then offered to take our dinner order and pass it onto the next hotel since we we’re getting there later than expected. The pool areas were also very nice (the pool was pretty cold but that didn’t stop my kids from enjoying it). Also we were able to walk wherever we wanted (to the beach/marina, to dinner, shops, etc). They just told us that we might want to get a cab after dark back to the hotel, which we heeded their advise on. There are some streets that empty out that I wouldn’t want to find myself on after dark. All in all the hotel was great. In terms of Santa Marta, it’s definitely not first world. It was pretty dirty. Also we didn’t realize but they don’t let you flush toilet paper in the toilets anywhere there (including our hotel), so that makes bathrooms gross pretty quick when you have to put that paper in a garbage can). Also, hardly anyone speaks English. Again the hotel front desk did which was awesome but we didn’t really encounter anyone else who did (from our cab drivers to the restaurants, etc). It was the same case in Medellin where we came from before arriving in Santa Marta. It was totally fine and we got by everywhere we went, we were just a little surprised since it is supposed to be touristy. The beach is not nice however we went sailing one day (with Luis via Viator), and that was beautiful and he took us to a nice beach. All in all we would definitely stay at Casa Carolina if we ever come back to Santa Marta. Oh and keep cash on you! The cab drivers did not take cards and we were in a pickle when we arrived at our next hotel and couldn’t pay the fare (I had asked repeatedly at the hotel who arranged the ride if he took a credit card and they said he did however after the hour and a half ride to our next destination, we were scrambling to figure out how to pay the driver.)

Beautiful hotel and property, and at $60 per night it was a great value. Friendly and helpful staff, huge breakfast included in the price of your room. I'd recommend it for anyone wanting to stay in the centro historico area of the city (some prefer to stay along the beach).

What a beautiful colonial design! I loved the way it has been built. The pool in the middle receiving all the sun you need, the jacuzzis higher up giving you the chance to enjoy a nice sunset with some good company and a good drink in your hands..! Definitely recommend even if it’s a bit outside the touristic area.

I wanted to like it but no. Charging 80.000 a night for a three year old kid. Charging 4.000 a bottle for a bottle of hotel branded water in a bar fridge that didn’t say there was a cost. The worst gin and tonic of my life. A great steak but they cut it up and Severd it cold. A lot to like but I wouldn’t return The morning shift guy is just a cog in the machine and not capable of making his own decísions.

Highly recommended!!! I was looking for a place that does not look like a Marriot in any city ! This place is it !!! Amazing interior design , beautiful courtyard with two swimming pools and a small one on a roof where you can soak in and watch the sunset ! Let me say that one out loud : AMAZING AND FRIENDLY ENGLISH SPEAKING STUFF !!!!! DO NOT LOOK ANY LONGER ! This is the place !!!

I stayed at the loft which was pretty awesome. We basically had two floors each with its own balconies. There is a pool on our floor too and no one usually come up except the staff. One MAJOR down side is that there is no hot water, my friend calls it luke warm but in my opinion it is barely lukewarm, the beach has warmer water.

I came here for 2 nights, staff was incredible professional, kind and attentive, they took really good care of us. There are a variety of rooms, we stayed at an standard one, comfortable and clean. I will defined will stay in this place again. Location is a little be dangerous after 7pm, it's better to take a taxi. Supermarkets close are Ă©xito or justo y bueno.

It's an incredible place. It's close to the parks, beach, shop etc. The place is really clean, rooms are awesome and the service is excellent. We went with our 2 year old baby and it was great. The kitchen staff will make you something just for the baby if he doesn't eat what is on the breakfast menu. We will definitely come back to this place. Thank you Casa Carolina.
