My experience in the republica hostel unfortunatelly was the worst. I booked one night in santa marta and after a couple of hours we knew that a friend of ours was seriously ill with a virus that she could not even get out of bed and we needed to meet her. Anyways, we did not use anything in the hostel except for putting our luggages in in the lobby for an hour or so, nor see the dorm and we asked for a refund or half of it. The manager refused even though he would have 2 free beds in that night and we were charged for an entire service we didnt use or spend. I am surprised that a hostel this big had such this attitude and service to a customer. But for sure this is an example where a big business does not care anymore at this scale, sad. I would definitively not recommend republica hostel to anyone.

Great hostel, the pool was amazing, the bar and the common areas too. The rooms are big with big space to store your luggage. The beds are very laut tho and when somebody else moves, the whole bed construction is moving, not very pleasant feeling. A lot of bathrooms but with a loooot of mosquitos and the water saving system in the showers is not very comfortable since the showers brake easily.

In all honesty, the room was very disappointing. It was expensive for a private room. The bed was hard as a rock, and blanket and the pillow for thin and When I asked for more, it was denied. However, the vibe of the hostel was a huge perk though. They are so organized and have activities planned all day. Clean kitchen, and decent breakfast included. The staff also super nice.

Probably a good place to party if you can stomach the music. Terrible WiFi in both rooms I was offered. Ended up in a private room next to the bar playing music until 1am. Loudly. Music absolutely not my cup of tea, to put it politely. I guess I should have picked a better place to relax after Lost City trek.

A decent hostel to meet people although this place is let down by the extremely poor wifi. It is impossible to do even a basic google search without the wifi cutting out. Otherwise, the place was clean and the rooms were spacious. Note that there is no hot water in the bathrooms which was a little disappointing (although somewhat expected in Colombia). A free delicious breakfast is a big perk but the breakfast hardly fills you up.

Beautiful hostel, right in the center and very friendly staff. Super comfy beds and privacy in the dorm even though it's big dorms. Quiet at night, always clean! Only downside is the WiFi. The connection really is terrible, wifi calls are sometimes possible, but also only in certain spots at some times. Therefore not suitable for working online or if having good wifi is very important to you. If this doesn't apply to you, this is a fantastic hostel and I recommend!

Great hostel, perfectly located, many areas to relax and beautiful swimming pool! Check in procedure is a bit slow and prices to ask for a taxi at reception is more expensive than on the streets.

Ask to be as far as possible from the reception. Otherwise you will not be able to sleep because of the staff in front desk, people coming in and out. Also we listen the same playlist several times at night

I didn't stay at the Hostel, but I did have the fortunte of going there for a few drinks with some local friends. The courtyard and bar area is comfortable and intimate, the customers were jovial, and Laura was a gracious server. The beer also had a good price tag 🤠

Pros: Refreshing pool and big rooms with aircon. Cons: Lacking atmosphere. Lots of people on laptops and it's difficult to meet people during the day. The bar is open til 1am and we couldn't sleep because the bass from the music was shaking our beds .

The hostel generally has a great vibe. The staff are super friendly and accommodating. I have a few points to note however. The breakfast is included but minuscule. The portions are measured to feed a mouse. Every guest I spoke or about this agreed. Breakfast is made to order and you have to wait for your name to be called to receive your ration, i really felt like I was in Oliver Twist. I felt afraid to ask for more, but I felt so hungry. This is clearly a cost control measure, but they would do so much better to have their limited breakfast options available for grabs, buffet style so guests can chose how much food they would like to eat, or at least eat enough to be fed. The Wi-Fi does not reach all of the rooms. You have to leave your credit card as collateral to use the ping pong set, the balls are all damaged and a great displeasure to play with, any hostel with a ping pong table should have a stock of balls. The towels available for hire are essentially wrags. The private rooms don’t even include hand soap. Essentially the hostel need to quit being stingy and spend a little more on what they provide to customers.

Perfectly located hostel in the Centro of Santa Marta. Rooms are great and comfortable, pool is small but enough for anyone to catch some sun, and there's integration activities daily which serve as mixers for anyone staying there. There's even rooms with only bunk beds for anyone who really wants to save some money. Also has two entrances, one is through its own bar.

Santa Marta is a wonderful place and this hostel is just amazing, it has a kind of greek patio with a pool, banches and the rooms are also pretty nice. About the price i think that is worth it and is no expensive. Also is close to te centre of parties and rumba.

Large , well kept historical bldg with pool, bar and limited restaurant. Temps inside remain cool. Cheap pricing makes this hostel hard to beat!

Pro: Friendly staff, cool interior, 2 bars and light food, good for partying. Con: WiFi is horrible. It disconnects constantly in the common area. It did not reach my room. Bathrooms are quite far from some rooms. No bathroom in room or hallway of rooms Beds are metal with metal lockers which are very noisy
