The design of the whole place is nice. When leaving a receptionist told me, that my weight is too low, even though it's very good regarding the BMI. And even though he could loose some pounds.

Great place. A little outside the city center, but a short walk and I felt relatively safe walking, even alone at night. The rooms are nice, only having a maximum of a 4 room hostel, which costs a lot less than most other hostels. The environment is great, pool, tv, bar, kitchen, and the staff is great. Definitely recommend this place over Masaya or viajero.

Very clean, no drugs, quiet and safe. Highly recommended, rooms have excelente AC, and water supply, they have bar, restaurant and a café next door. EXTREMLY RECOMENDED, give it a chance, you will not regret it. Accomodation in shared room 8 to 10 (32.000 COP), shared room for 4 (35.000 COP), private room (130.000 COP) -Prices as November 2- Very clean, nice pool, with bar, café and plenty of space. it is located in a commercial area of the city, so you can find places to eat, and street food. They also have info on tours. Personnel is very friendly and helpful. Like many other buissnises, Casa Avelina has strugleed with the pandemic. It is quiet new (3 years old), in their firs aniversary the pandemic broke loose. Next to Casa Avelina, to your left you will find several restaurant, and 4 blocks downyou will find El Mercado Público (public market).

Bedbugs. A lot :-( NEVER EVEN THINK TO STAY HERE I stayed on bottom bed in dorm room. Another 3 guests have the same. Strong itches at night and then all the day. itches continue all the next day. And appears that even one guy who I know stayed in private room had the same. The problem is wider though: 1. Lie. Lie. Lie. Triple lie. Administrators on reception all the day tried to say that this is mosquitos. And even though obviously all guests have same and obviously it is bedbugs, they not give any appropriate help. They just Ignored. One administrator and then other too. Same song - this is mosquitos! We have not medicine for you. Etc. I pretty sure that problem in management and owner at all. So even if they fix situation it will be worst place to stay anyway. 2. Lie. Lie. Lie. Many already had issue. But they even didn't try to fix anything and new guest was coming to sleep on same beds. Don't care. So if you are got something similar do not be polite and good. They hurt you. I already 3 days in awful many bite marks and my whole rest is completely ruined for many many days. Yours will too if you staying there:-( :-( :-(

Nice hostel ruined by extremely rude and unfriendly staff. Not all of them. There were some nice ones but most were not. From the minute we walked in the reception we had a bad feeling about the staff. There was just a certain amount of attitude from the person at the front desk that was completely unnecessary and uncalled for. Later that day we went to the bar and we saw the employee named Olga yell at a couple of volunteers for very petty reasons in front of the guests. Just brings down the whole vibe. Various other incidents occurred that confirmed that the prior rude events were not one offs, that this is just how the staff normally acted. Do yourself a favor and find a better place.

Nice hostel but was very quiet when I stayed unfortunately. Great pool, nice food, friendly and helpful staff. It is 15 minutes walk from the busy area of Santa Marta

A very good looking hostel a little outside the city centre, Casa Avelina provides you a mix of a party hostel and a family resort. This place is for you if you like to hang out at the pool side listening to loud music from early in the morning until late evening. Beds are comfortable, lockers quite spacious, but the ceiling fan is super loud. All in all, loud is the word that firs comes to mind, since the loud music really is unescapable in the premises. The reception is was super helpful, and when I checked out two nights early because I couldn't do any work there (really, even talking in the table was hard because of the blasting music), I got my nights refunded without even asking. The breakfast is super small, but the restaurant does provide other delicious meals. Restaurant staff weren't really enjoying their time and seemed quite reluctant to serve, like some othere reviews had pointed out, but they were friendly enough for me. All in all, if you enjoy super loud music all day while dipping in the pool, the place is a perfect spot to stay a couple of days.

Goid decoration! Looks much better on photos in general but is ok, particularly the beds!!! Is a bit far and isolated. I was happy in general until i woke up and went for breakfast 5 mins later and they didnt give it to me. When talking to the manager he was defensive and didnt receive feedback so both factors make the hostel not able to improve in terms of service!!! I would rather go to el viajero or something in the center.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!! I really love this place since the first second I get in , staff are friendly and helpful , Edwin it’s so sweet and attentive! Nico and all of the staff ! , they have really nice decoration and facilities. I work remotely and WIFI was great they have a great Coworking area , the hammock to chill , the pool is great , restaurant has awesome food and vegetarian option too !!! The cocktails in the bar are really good ask for the gin tonics in happy hour , music is good and no loud at all ( I wanted louder haha). AC works perfectly. A really good place close to the center , easy transportation access . Breakfast included ! I like everything here and sure I’ll come back to stay longer next time

The pool was great, room was spacious and staff was nice! We got offered to enjoy the happy hour, we got 2 for 1 cocktail each. When it was time to check-out we have been told we had our drinks out of the happy hour (from 5 to 7, we had it around 5:30). The waiter said it was before that, and they went to check the cameras to make sure we were telling the truth. Not the best experience. Also, it’s not the best location, there’s not much around. At night, music was very very loud and it was not easy to fall asleep.

👍 Still a lot to do but it seems they improve everything step by step. @staff, don’t waste time on painting the men’s showers. Makes totally no sense at all. Use tiles 🙄! Finish the houses and it will be a very nice place to stay and relax.
