I was part of the tour with a couple other people who were on the same tour as me (Thomas L & Aline Y) and I wanted to give my two cents: We were in the van on our way to the start of the tour when a woman with her Pomeranian dog (9 years old- she told us all) came aboard because she was very adamant the dog could handle it. I will say, despite the owner of the dog’s issues our tour guides were INCREDIBLY patient with her and the fact that many tour guides, people in the group, and people out of the group had to make sure her dog was okay and was able to make it up and down the trek. (If I can add a video I will because it was ridiculously funny that we had to take care of the dog) The tour itself was amazing. Our guides Stiwen and Luz Mery were incredibly knowledgeable about the indigenous culture and about the land we were treking. While my friends and I are not vegan, we never felt rushed on the tour itself. We thought that food was decent for what it was. We’re out in the middle of the jungle and we were not expecting much. If you are vegan, I would consider asking the tour about what the vegan options are and make sure you are adequately prepared. But we also were treating the tour guides and everyone around us with respect. As someone who does not hike very often, I will say the trek is hard. Uphill I was very challenging and I struggled a bit. But as I said earlier, the tour guides and those around me were very supportive and generous. If you are someone who is not used to long hikes and treks this may be difficult for you. Overall I LOVED this company itself. Luz Mery and Stiwen were so kind and educated. They made sure we very comfortable and were incredibly patient. Just make sure you check the website and bring the necessities listed (change of clothes, a TOWEL, sunscreen, bug spray, etc). My friends and I had an amazing time. I would recommend it to anyone who is willing and able to do this trek!!

One of a handful of official hiking agencies that arrange Ciudad Perdida treks. Definitely recommend them. The guides and staff are professional, passionate and responsive. The trek itself is an absolute must when visiting Colombia. The 4 days are intense, but for experienced hikers I would say it's a moderate difficulty level. The views along the way are spectacular and the historical site itself exceeded my expectations.

We had an amazing 4-Day hike to Ciudad Perdida with Magic Tours. Though it was challenging, the group and our guides managed to keep our spirits high the whole way through. The camps were great, we slept in bunk beds with good mosquito nets, had access to toilets and showers as well as the possibility to swim in the river after a long day of hiking. All of our questions about the city, indigenous culture and the area in general were answered in great detail by Saul and translated to English by Jay. The two were a perfect guide-pairing. Last but not least we had amazing food and snacks every day thanks to chef super Carmen. This hike is definitely a bucket list moment and once in a lifetime experience! Would highly recommend. We did the lost city trek with Magic Tours and they were without a doubt utterly brilliant. Great meals and snacks, Wolf our translator was wonderful, as was our guide Nelson. The accommodation on the trek is basic but clean and everywhere had a pool/stretch of river to cool off in at the end of the day.

We did the 3 day / 2 nights Lost City tour and were very happy ! ( only family of 4 p. ) Our guides Nelson & Abraham were very careful, caring, informative & always a big smile. Nelson was quick cutting a walking stick when my knee decided to give me grief, many thanks ! The little rest stops with fresh fruits were the best snacks !!! Meals were always great but a little too big for me. I can highly recommend Magic Tours to organize & guide your tour. ( don’t underestimate the hike !!! )

The only reason I give 2 stars is because the vehicle 🚗 they use to go and back to the start of the lost city trail is uncomfortable 🥴. 6-8 people setting in the back of the jeep for few hours each way. After these trips you get back pain because of the bumpy road. The driver doesn't care. On the way back to the city on the last day of the trip the driver drove like a crazy, overtaking cars dangerously and almost causing an accident. No seat belts. Besides that, the guides were very nice and the food was very tasty and the accommodation was very nice even though there were unclean sheets and blankets in the accommodation.

Really professional tour company that is one of 3 or so authorized to bring visitors to Ciudad Perdida. You must link in with a tour group to take the trek, and interfacing with other groups along the route, all appeared very professional, safety-oriented and organized. The trek itself is pretty accessible to all reasonably fit people, but was a challenge. Juan Carlos was our guide and he did an amazing job-- I did the trip with my 3 kids aged 10, 8 and 5 and he was incredible with them. I speak Spanish but agree with John you should confirm ahead of time that your guide is fluent in English if you're not a Spanish speaker-- they have a mix of bilingual and Spanish-only guides, so make sure to ask. You will be in great hands though with Magic-- wonderful people, good food and overall a totally life-changing experience doing this trip. Highly authentic and not over-touristed.

We just finished the 4 days trek to the lost city and want to commend the agency for its professionalism, from the booking process to our questions before and organising transportation after the trip. During the trek, our guides José García, Abraham, Guigui and Brian have been amazing by taking excellent care of us, managing a big group and facing challenges in the nicest way.

I had researched other tour companies providing the Lost City trek and Magic Tours seemed to be best, and I'm really glad we chose it. Our guides Nicolas, Jesus and Juan Carlos were always positive, enthusiastic, encouraging and light-hearted - nothing was a problem for them and they seemed to enjoy the experience and were chatty and engaging with the group participants the whole time. Nicolas was the local guide and very knowledgeable about the area, sharing some of his own story, and both he and Jesus, the translator, were passionate and knowledgeable about the area's history. We were so lucky to get great weather - overcast on the first day that has little shade, and at no point walking in the rain. We only had to do one river crossing and the bugs that everyone talks about were almost non-existent, though I do recommended treating clothes and gear with permethrin as we did, and using picaridin 20% bug repellent spray which is better for preventing ticks, as effective as DEET, and won't destroy your gear so you can use it on clothes. Our stuff dried out OK overnight... really, we were so lucky. Our group of 17 was good-humoured bunch from all over the world and everyone seemed to enjoy the experience. Food was great, water provided was great, sleeping was OK (couples had to share beds and some people had to take hammocks) but overall the experience really surpassed my expectations - I'd freaked myself out about it from reading blog posts by bloggers who are maybe trying to sound more hardcore? and reviews on here that made it sound incredibly tough. Honestly, I have a desk job and do only pilates as exercise in my day-to-day life and found it really doable - challenging but not so bad that I had to dig really deep mentally. (Of course the nice weather made a massive difference!) The one thing I wish we'd known: you can request to get collected from Tayrona National Park, instead of being collected from Santa Marta. And, you can go straight from the trek's beginning in El Mamey to Minca or Palomino etc - other places in the area - rather than go back to Santa Marta. SM is such a unpleasant place it is best to avoid at all costs in my opinion. I would recommend this tour company and trek to anyone with an average level of fitness and a good attitude. Can not recommend Magic Tours more highly! We used Magic Tours for our Lost City Hike. The guides are amazing. We had Jose (J from Venezuela, as he referred himself), Saul (the local guru and hiking machine!) And of course our amazing chef Carmen. J was our spanish to English translator and had an amazing attitude, he was a lot of fun. As mentioned Saul is the local guru and has a great relationship with the local indigenous people that occupy the areas surrounding the lost city. Saul provided amazing insight in to the daily routines, the spiritual connections and the past 40 to 50 years or development with the indigenous people. Carmen was the amazing chef that cooked our tour ground 5 star meals deal into the jungle. It's amazing how great the food was considering how far from civilization we were. The hike it's self was most likely made a lot easier with the constantly rain we encountered. It really kept the days cool which was nice because we had read horror stories about people suffering from heat stroke and heat exhaustion on this hike. (This isnt to say its an easy hike, its 58.8km of up hill and downhill, the rain creates huge mud pits and there are many water crossing. This hike isn't for the average sunday 5km walker. Read blogs and talk to magic tours about the difficulty level before booking) The camps are great, beds are comfortable and as I mentioned the food in amazing, we never went hungry, I honestly didn't finish one entire meal which is uncommon for me. The meals are huge!! The views are worth the 4 day hike!

I just cam back from the absolutely amazing 4 day trek to the „Lost City“ with Jose Garcia (guide) and Jesus Duque (translator) from Magic Tours. The two make a great team and go out of their way to make the tour the best experience for you. Our group was compiled of some very fast and some slow hikers, nonetheless Jose and Jesus kept everybody happy and made the hike an exceptional experience for all of us. Jose seems to know everything and everyone in the area and Jesus is such an attentive person. On our last evening both gave a mini concert for everyone in the camp, which was such a unique thing to do! I definitely recommend doing the tour with them. The tour is very well planned, the food is freshly cooked and plentiful (you get three meals a day and fruit snacks in between). The vegetarian meals are actual meals and not just side dishes.

Our Lost City experience with Magic Tour was out of this world. Brian and Saul were fantastic guides. They looked after us so well and were great fun. Despite the rain (be well prepared during rainy season) we thoroughly enjoyed the hiking. The scenery is so beautiful, so many mountains, rivers and waterfalls. They feed you SO well and all of the camps we stayed at had beds with mosquito nets, flushing toilets and showers.

Thanks for great experience! The guide had over 30 years experience and knew a lot of the history of the region and indiginous. We felt really save with him. Went on a 4 day lost city tour and it was one of the most amazing experiences. Wilson our guide was so extremely knowledgeable of the area and was the most kind and helpful person during the entire hike. Our translator Toni was also amazing & Jesus cooked our meals each day and it was probably some of the best food I’ve ever had. Overall such a great experience and i would recommend it to anyone. Our guides Oscar and Pedro were the best! Oscar is the fittest guy alive totally crazy but in a fun way. Pedro truly cares about the indigenous community and is very knowledgeable. Truly nice people. Andrea at the Magic Tour offices was a pleasure to talk to aswell. The trek itself. Yes, it’s hard.. but doable. The filtered water at camp is fine to drink as long as it hasn’t rained recently. Sand clogs the filters and then it doesn’t become safe to drink. All tour operators offer the same thing. You all sleep and eat in the same camps. All walk the same route at the same time. All have the same prices. Although.. some hotels offer a free night stay in their dooms if you book through them and it will cost the same!! We did the three-day La Guajira / Punta Gallinas / Cabo de la Vela option which was perfect. It’s all rustic (saltwater showers the second night, good showers the first night) but it was exactly what we were looking for. The first night the showers were good. Our driver, Jesús, was excellent - the “roads” are quite bad and he handled the car perfectly, even when he had to actually fix it one night by replacing some part! The office team was great too. You sleep in dorm-style hammocks which is much preferable in the heat. Best two nights of sleep on the trip actually. The food was quite good (except ironically in Riohacha, first breakfast and last lunch). Highly recommend spending $5 USD extra for the lobster the second night at Luzmila. The car is NOT comfortable. This is likely the same for every company, it was fine for us. It did have good AC. The days are long with lots of driving, but you see so much it’s worth it. We wore “hiking” Teva sandals and these are ideal. You do not need boots, your feet will be hot, sandy and wet. You won’t have much privacy except when you’re in the bathroom, which for us was fine. Your days are scheduled out which is what you pay for. Bring water and snacks and sun protection, and be okay with being sweaty and sticky and you’ll have a great time!
