The beach is in a peaceful part of the sea that has very less waves compared to the other beaches. As much as the water is peaceful, the shore is not. There is hardly a moment of quiet when you are at the beach. There are people selling different types of things from cocktails to massages. The beach has its own charm and can get over crowded most of the days. I literally counted 4 bathrooms in ten entire stretch. A bit more focus on sanitation would help. There always is a party happening somewhere or the other place in the beach. Hence, if you look for a quiet beach, then this not it. However, if you are looking for a party beach, this definitely is much better than the one in santa marta.

Its busy always with so much traffic, the beaches are jam packed, and the vendors will rip you off! we sat down after being enticed into a restaurant by some drunken guy. Only to have a pack of massage vendors swarm us asking for 180000 pesos after they give you a crapppy massage... just avoid this area at all costs unless you like vendors swarming you and jam packed traffic and beaches. We went there by bike and one road was spewing out sewage waste like there was no tomorrow. Its just busy and fully of pushy vendors that just won't stop harassing people for money. Should be more cops in that area.

El Rodadero is a great beach. Its famous for many things, good and bad. When I visited I only saw the good, so I can only comment on that. Its a large beach that reminded me of Miami Beach back in the 1980's when things were affordable, families went for weekends, the vendors sold lots of useless things and the obnoxious, loud and irritating students had not arrived. If you're looking for a big beach experience this is it.
