I’m giving one star for all the garbage in the ocean and on the beach. There are literally glass shards in the sand. It’s worth snorkelling, but away from shore and do bring your own gear, because you don’t get a breathing tube when hiring a snorkelling tour, just a mask. And don’t believe the locals saying you will see corals while snorkelling. Some colourful fish yes, but the coral is all dead and truly a sad sight. In any case go early, because it gets truly busy after 11. Just for information, we paid 5000 for a seat. You can also hike from here to other smaller beaches. A quick 10 minute hike IN THE SUN(bring a towel on your head) will bring you to more secluded beaches.

"Nice quite and idyllic beach" I read somewhere. Well, not really. The trail from Taganga to the beach is full of garbage and the beach is extremely overcrowded. What a disappointment â˜č

The beach itself is beautiful, but it is dirty, with plastic debris floating, more merchants than visitors, they have filled the beach with chairs and there is no room to lie down. They harass you all the time offering you things to buy and kayak rides. Even in the water they continue to offer you things, they pass by in kayaks trying to sell you rides. Avoid at all costs.

Be really careful when walking there, we got robbed by two teenagers with a knife at 10am in the morning
Don’t take belongings with you and rather take a boat to get there. The beach is absolutely not worth it to take the risk.

The beach itself is nice (not spectacular, but nice anyway) and has potential. The biggest issue is that there is GARBAGE EVERYWHERE, specially all along the foot paths to go to the “secret beaches” that are 10-20 min away by foot. Another issue is that the entire beach has been occupied by people renting chairs—the problem is that they are seating plastic chairs, not sunbeds, so you won’t be able to lie down and relax—only sit.

Typical tourist trap beach. Pay for a boat ride to a secluded beach, get there and find 20 clapped out overloaded boats taking people there in shifts, beach is covered by hundreds of plastic chairs for rent, people trying to sell you things, they charge you to use the bathroom, stray dogs, they have one garbage can on the beach which nobody uses. Still trying to find a beach here where you aren't harassed or nickel-and-dimed constantly. This place is nothing like the photos.

(Translated by Google) the beach is not so beautiful because it is dirty, it has no waves, it is very quiet, there are quite a lot of street vendors, and restaurants should be ordered. (Original) la playa no es tan bonita por qué esta algo sucia, no tiene olas, es muy tranquila, hay bastantes ambulantes, ademas se tendría q ordenar los restaurantes.

(Translated by Google) Better than the Rodadero, although equally crowded, somewhat tolerable; but the carelessness of locals and tourists is not acceptable at all. We had to collect garbage that others had thrown on the beach and we also removed some plastics from the bottom of the sea. It is a place still blessed, with beautiful marine fauna and flora in its surroundings, but how long will it last with such carelessness? Let's be aware. If you go, please try to leave the place better than you found it.

Horrible beach. These reviews must be FAKE. Tourists should avoid this place at all costs. This beach is dirty, overcrowded, there is trash everywhere, boats are old and dirty, there are malnourished stray cats and dogs. Food is below average. Do not go here. You have been warned.

Beautiful place, but so sad to see so much trash everywhere along the ways and on the beach. No bins around, municipality has to strengthen efforts against pollution!

I've read Gerard review and I felt identified. The place is nice but the locals are not responsible for taking care of the place. To get here you'll have to pay from Taganga main shore 15K pesos for a 3 minutes ride. The place has like 20 shops that one next to the other, and they charge for everything 5k for a beer, 5k for a seat, 25k for the most cheapest plate. The water is not the clearest one and I thought that maybe the pandemic helped to revert some of the damages but the contaminated of the sea is stunning, you'll see face mask, Cheetos and even glass bottles. From 12 to 2, the place can be filled with 300 people at the same time. Not good experience!

Too many people, too much boats đŸš€â€Šdon’t waste your time and money. Go to another beach. This one is cheaper go get, only 15000 round trip by boat. You can buy a ticket in Taganga beach.

A very nice beach alternative to the one on the Taganga waterfront. If you dislike crowds, you'll have to get there very early (8 or 9 am) if you want most of the beach to yourself. But the crowds start coming in earnest as the morning progresses, so if you don't want to be in a crowd of people you'll be looking to leave by noon at the latest. In the pictures I provide you'll see Playa Grande when there are masses of people, and when it is early in the morning for comparison. Check out my blog post on how to get here (see URL in photos), as well as other beaches, in the Taganga area without having to pay for a boat shuttle! It is a nice hike.

Playa Grande in Taganga, Colombia, is a hidden beach gem. With its golden sands, clear waters, and serene atmosphere, it's a tranquil escape with a touch of local charm. Accessible by a short hike or boat ride, it's a must-visit for nature lovers. This hidden paradise is waiting for you to discover.

Beautiful beach and warm water. Pay the 6000 COP ($1.80 USD) for the round trip boat from Taganga- people get robbed walking the trail from town.

Loved the little mountain walk from Taganga to Playa Grande. Loved the restaurants by the beach. Loved the rides on the beach. The boat ride was OK, I didn't like the dirty smelly life vests that we got though.

A packed Colombian beach, filled with tourists, locals, vendors, boats, restaurants and good vibes. You can either pay to sit in a chair or bring a towel and lay on the sand. In order to get to the beach you either take a boat at the cost of 7,500 COP, or you walk the path along the mountain. The path is not easy so beware! If you’re a tourist the vendors can become a nuisance as they follow you around try to sell you their goods. Overall a nice place to get tanned!

  • 1/5 Joselix A Calleja S. 1 year ago on Google
Complete disappointment. The beach is extremely overcrowded, full of trash and people renting chairs, no place to sit and relax. Everybody sits in rows, you don’t get to enjoy or even go in the water, all full of boats in the beach. Food isn’t great either, wouldn’t recommend

What a nice place, if you want to leave your rutine behind, at least for a day, this is the best place to be, you can find, hike, sand, beach, beers, dance, nature, great people and a very beatiful place that will make you feel so relax, you wont remember home, i highly recommend this place... It is a must in Sta Marta !

Do. Not. Come. Here. Complete tourist trap lacking sanitation. Overpriced restaurants and people haggling you every few minutes to buy something from them. You need to pay transportation, then to sit somewhere you must pay again for a chair. Rocky and trash everywhere.

a place for families and friends, bars, meals, water attractions on site. possibility of getting a place with chairs in the shade. This is not a place for those who love peace and quiet, but a few steps from the Grande beach there are wild and peaceful beaches.

The worst beach I have ever been. It's a tiny strip of sand with some plastic chairs and people bothering you constantly. It's not like any beach I've been to before and would recommend tourists really not to bother visiting.
