Stopped for lunch while walking around Callela, weekday, mid-afternoon. There were a few people outside drinking. Staff initially seemed shocked there were 7 of us and we were told it was only pizzas and chips for food. No problem, although a bit disappointing and surprised the menu was so limited. Food arrived quite quickly but it was very poorly cooked. We tried to eat it but it got too much and I complained and demanded a discount. They called their boss and offered free ice cream and a pizza off the bill. We accepted but they did try arguing that the pizza was fine which was quite funny (they could clearly tell it wasn't but 10/10 for their effort to convince me otherwise). The restaurant inside was not very clean and the toilets were horrible. WE figured out they were not ready for cooking or that many guests and instead chose to rush our food through a pizza oven which was clearly not on for long enough. Rather than explain that in the first place they decided to take our money. Their reaction to the complaint gave me the impression this wasn't the first time this has happened either.

Tourist and locals alike, please avoid eating at this restaurant. My wife and I have lived in Calella several years and have visited this restaurant on multiple occasions. However after our last experience we will not be returning. After having appetizers, drinks and coffee we requested the bill. The server who was very kind then informed us the credit card machine was broken. This was of course a bit frustrating as we only had card and were only informed after we finished eating. I voiced my frustration and let the server know we would need to leave to get cash. He informed me that one of us would have to stay. At this point the owner was actually getting on the phone call the police. This was beyond unnecessary, disrespectful and petty on his part. We never once voiced we wouldn't pay. But rather we would pay cash since we had no choice but needed to visit an atm. He basically was holding us hostage, which I'm pretty sure he wasn't legally able to do. However to avoid further escalation and frustration my in laws offered to stay behind while my wife and I sought out an atm. This being their first time in a foreign country and only second restaurant in Spain, I was rather disappointed for them to have to have such an experience. My wife and I sought out and returned with cash. Prior to seeking an atm the server stated the owner would reimburse our atm fee. This changed upon returning but he finally budged and reimbursed us after I called him out on going back on what he said. I told the server that he need tell the owner he can't do this to client and he needs to let them know upon seating the machine doesn't work. The server actually told is that the owner told him not to let people know the machine was broken. That when people were sat and found out the marchine was broken they would leave. I told the server to translate that this was inappropriate and he is being very unprofessional. The server informed me that the owner didn't care. We told the server he shouldn't work for a man like that. That he should find another job. The server said that he was working on it. We told him good luck. We let him know we were locals and that we would never be returning to this restaurant. The owner seems like a selfish, apathetic, drunkard.
