Did the Coronado Cruise today with (Bird). It was awesome. Perfect day for the cruise past the Hotel Del and all around Coronado. Saw some great sites and Bird was very knowledgable about the area. Just another great experience for Valerie and I's Staycation. Highly recommend to everyone. Thanks, Dan and Valerie

Great location, but literally the worst bike I have ever rented. And I have rented many, many bikes. They gave me a beach cruiser that was likely older than I am. Brakes barely worked. Seat wobbled. The bike kept listing to one side. The bike lock fell apart when I tried to lock it. I’ve rented from this place before, years ago, and had a great experience, with salespeople who knew bikes and knew the island. This time I had teenagers who couldn’t answer my questions, didn’t have any maps, and gave me a bike that I wouldn’t let my kid ride, even for free. Won’t be back.

Dishonest company ! Be aware ! I booked kayak online the website says as follows " Kayak rental includes complimentary transportation of your kayak to the beach, water map, and all necessary kayak gear. Kayak rental duration is for 2 hours from timeslot." BUT When I got there they said for rental its only for 1.5 hours in my face.... I wish I had my phone ( since we had to lock our phones) to show them their website! life jacket really stinky, kayak not well maintained condition. Worst service ever had !

Booked a kayak tour for 3 double kayaks. Arrived a half hour before tour time and was informed that the tour was cancelled by a very rude young woman named Christina. She offered no apology and couldn't be bothered to look up from the screens she was staring at, which included her personal phone. We rescheduled for tomorrow but after leaving the store and speaking with my husband we found out that they were the only tour company to cancel. We went back into the store to request the refund that was originally offered and the still very unpleasant Christina who still couldn't be bothered to offer any type of customer service sat and rolled her eyes, smirked, and made little sounds to show us how annoyed she was by our presence. We were informed that she couldn't provide a refund, that she would have to put in a request and it would take "awhile". I asked for a confirmation which she insisted she couldn't provide. Upon my husband asking one she disappeared to an office where she could be heard mocking us and laughing. About 5-7 minutes later she came out with a receipt of the reservation that I had already made showing the charges but NO refund which she tossed onto the desk and said "There!". Her lovely attitude and poor customer service was just too much! I'll have to file a dispute with my credit card company and wait for them to credit me though it could've been easily avoided. Silver lining being that we walked just a couple hundred feet down the street and booked a tour with a different company who was happy to provide us with the service we paid for as well as awesome customer service.

Ask if they have an air pump to fill air in the tires. They didn't have an air pump at a bike rental shop!!! Ours were pretty flat which made for difficult riding. The employees were helpful and nice but our experience was not good.

Took my daughter for her birthday and can not express enough how great the staff was. Sam and Claudia took us out and their knowledge of the area was remarkable. I highly recommend the tour. We felt safe and enjoyed the entire tour. Thanks for taking care of our family and showing us the beauty of LA Jolla.

Oh man AVOID. We showed up at 3:20 PM (they close at 6) and were told we couldn’t rent any kayaks or stand up paddle boards because “it takes too long to put them away.” I’m sorry, if you won’t rent us anything over 2.5 hours before you supposedly close you need to change your hours. Absolute ridiculous and unprofessional. And yes, the rental would’ve only been for 90 minutes.

Amazing experience. We rented the bikes and cyclied around the island with a stop halfway through to enjoy the view at the beach- very beautiful and peaceful. In total it took us 1.5 hours with a stop for a sandwich. It's definitely one of the top 5 things you should do when in San Diego. The service and the staff at the shop were great too. Don't forget to get from the leaflets close to the ferry that give 25% discount.

Our tour guide was really good, but they tell you to come 45 minutes early so we did. After signing a waiver and getting a locker we were told to walk around for 30-40 minutes. 45 minutes early seems very excessive. Otherwise, it was good.

My husband was in San Diego for meetings and a small group of spouses of attendees went on a bike tour of Coronado with Bike and Kayak Tours. We had different bikes, mine was old school and I had to remember how to stop by pedaling backwards. Some bikes had handbrakes, one had gears. Our guides, Spencer and Ben were helpful and accomdating. They were knowledgable about Coronado. They were patient as some of us had not ridden bikes in some time. We were each given a large bottled water and had the option for helmets. We need to cut our time short a bit to catch the ferry back due to a dinner reservation but they adjusted the tour and when one person asked about seeing the Hotel Del up close, they said we would be back about 15 minutes later than planned but still in time for the ferry. It was a great stop to see the hotel and the beautiful beach. One guide would stay out in the street to make sure we all crossed safely and one was always with the last person in the group. Would definately consider using them again on a future visit.

Nice enough location and a lovely bike loop, but this shop has terrible safety standards. Most of the helmets had something wrong with them. One of the ones we ended up taking was missing the foam inside that keeps it in place so the fit was completely unsafe. It was probably the fifth helmet we tried on before giving up on getting a safe helmet. Similarly, all the brakes were loose enough to squeeze them to the handlebar before they engaged. I tried at least 3 bikes before giving up, and one of the staff had to leave to go deliver a bike to another customer that had brake issues. Staff watched us try on unsafe gear and did nothing to fix it except give us a new, equally unsafe option. I don't think gear is maintained at all, as the gear that we deemed unsafe was just added to the rest of the rental pile. I said something to staff at the end of the tour and nothing was done to rectify the situation.

Our tour at La Jolla was cancelled and they offered us a refund or to switch to Coronado. We switched to Coronado and got paired with Charles as a tour guide and he made it the best kayak tour I've ever been on. Most def will go again.

    Favorite place for kayaking.

For the price of the kayak rental (>40$ for an hour and a half after tax) I was expecting a nice covered kayak like the ones I get for 15$/day up in Toronto. This hunk of garbage had no cover, giving me crazy sunburn on my legs, and there were also water holes that poured into the boat, soaking your socks and shoes and garments. Honestly would have preferred riding a wood door like in Titanic around the island.

Tyler & Gabe- the best. Had a great time, they were very knowledgeable & helpful. We had a great time!!! The whole staff from getting information & booking the tour, to the staff that was helping to push out the kayak & get us out there safely, to grabbing kayak on the way in. Everyone was very friendly & seemed to enjoy what they did.

We usually rent from the competition but on this day decided to try SUP (means stand-up paddleboard) & Saddle. All went smoothly for all four of us. Baskets and locks included. They adjusted my seat higher before we left. Locks included which we used at the Hotel Del. We rented for three hours and were 30 minutes late, but they were cool and did not charge the extra hour. Also my wife bought a surf top shirt after... excellent quality.

The man who helped us was extremely unhelpful. He first told us we couldn’t add a burley to our electric bike and a nice lady informed us we actually could. Once given the bikes we started riding only to find out 2/6 bikes were about to die one bikes tire was almost flat and the other bike did not go over 15mph when the rest of the bikes went 24mph. We had to return to the shop to fix all the issues in the middle of the ride. The same man then complained to a coworker that we came back with “too many questions”. Then when we went back out one of our bikes died and he had to petal all the way back with the burley attached carrying two kids. The same man again asked how our ride was and when we said it died in us he said “oh sorry” then went back to work. Very unprofessional and not helpful at all. The ride was fun while we were out but too many difficulties. Definitely don’t recommend.

We booked a kayak rental the night before. The next day before our rental started, we had a death in the family and had to rush out of town. They told us their 24 hour cancel policy wouldn’t allowed a refund. Are you kidding me? This place is far from professional. Any good business would be understanding. Choose another option l, there are plenty of others.

For the best location for Bike rentals, they need to upgrade there bikes, very clunky old school electric bikes. They can do much better, come on make a effort.

I took my bike riding for the first time! We called in advance and went twice to rent an adult tricycle. They book fast so it is firstcome first serve. We enjoyed the experience, and the views were spectacular. Recommend Coronado bike riding to all

A great experience renting a bicycle. It was an easy process (I was a walk-in). I had my bike and helmet within 5 minutes of showing up. No issues with using a GoCity pass. The man who helped me was so nice and helped me with the seat height adjustment. Highly recommend. Don't try to walk this island. It's much bigger than it appears and you'll cover way more ground.

We decided to do the Snorkeling/Kayaking tour while visiting San Diego. Let me tell you -- it was amazing. I've never kayaked before & the guides made me feel very comfortable & confident in doing so. It was HARD in the ocean but fun. The view are amazing. HIGHLY recommend this activity with this bunch! Our guides were AMAZING!

We had a great time and would recommend the tour to others! Ruby, Ben and Zach made it fun and safe. We enjoyed the 2 mile trek to see the sea lions, caves and beauty of the ocean. My only recommendations would be some sort of microphone or bull horn. Unless our kayak was up front, we couldn’t hear some of the instructions or stories. I also wish our tour guides would take pictures of each boat while kayaking and send the pictures to us since most people don’t want to take their phones on the kayak.

I booked the Leopard Shark Adventure at Bike and Kayak in La Jolla... and I had an absolutely AMAZING time in the water. My guide, Maddy, was also AMAZING. It was great to share the experience with someone who just as into it and enthusiastic about it as I was. 5 Stars for the tour and another 5 Stars for Maddy. I can't wait to come back and do the cave kayak tour. (Side note, the entire staff at Bike and Kayak were super friendly and a pleasure to meet). Overall, a fantastic experience all around, definitely recommend it if you're in the area.

Great kayaking trip. The guides were a lot of fun and very informative. It was amazing to be able to go inside the cave with sea lions swimming around. Highly recommend. Next time I'm in the San Diego area I'm going to book the snorkeling trip as well.

It was a wonderful experience. The staff was beyond friendly and kick back. In fact, we had such a great time we came back again that same week. We were welcomed and remembered by a couple of the staff. Loved the small town feel and treatment. Will be back again soon.

We went to the Coronado location and the stuff was super nice. But we had 2 concerns, 1 we called to see if we can do a same-day reservation with a groupon and they said yes. We got there and they didnt had any tours so we waste our money. They said that the Jolla location get the calls and they do not know when they have tours so it is very disorganized. Also, the person who gave us the kayak was not in the location when we came back so we had to struggled getting out of water by ourselves.

My friend and I had a great time in our double kayak on Friday! Our guide, Hannah, was enthusiastic and well-educated about the area, and made sure we had a good understanding of the bay area. Do keep in mind that they are open-top ocean kayaks, so be sure to put sunscreen on your legs!

It was a good deal for buying tickets online. My kayak was holding some water - the only reason I didn't give a 5 star. The people were nice even though they were busy. We had a great time in the 2 hours of rental. People who have given bad reviews were probably on the snobby side....if you want the "perfect kayak and life vest", go buy them. We weren't going there expecting top notch equipment, but it was adequate. We recommend this place. There are also some great shops and eateries close by to enjoy while you're there!

  • 4/5 Stephen H. 5 years ago on Google
The best thing about the La Jolla Kayak Tour...the guides. Erin and Courtney were fabulous. They were knowledgable, funny and entertaining. The pace of the tour was perfect. Some times of paddling at a good pace and some times of coming together as a group and talking about the marine reserve. I have to take a star off for what is a misleading tour description. Their site says "Come explore the La Jolla Caves with us" and the subtitle is "Kayak the 7 Caves" which makes you think you will be going INTO the caves. Technically it doesn't say you'll go in the caves in the description but it's still a little deceiving. If there was a Mueller Report on the subject, he'd probably rule NO DECEPTION. But the two most prominent photos of the tour show kayakers inside a cave. In reality, waves were too big to safely go into a cave on our day and even on perfectly calm days you only go into one cave on the tour. All in all though, a very good tour with two excellent guides.

It was a nice little kayak tour, very nice way to see the city from a different angle. I did the quick 2 hour kayak tour around the bay. Worth the time and price. The staff were mellow guys, very friendly and helpful. My tour guide Luke was great. I happened to be the only person on the tour, so made for a unique experience. I'm guessing most (at least weekday tours) are all pretty small and personable.
