You can walk, bike, bus, or take the funicular up to the top. For me was a must-see in Santiago.

Need to visit while in Santiago. The views are amazing. You can walk, bike, take the funicular or tram up the mountain. The 360 views at the top are worth it. Beautiful sacred place very peaceful. It was crowded but not loud. Can definitely spend a while walking all around the hill not just the statue part.

Fantastic spot to really appreciate one of Santiago's most iconic locations located at the summit of the San Cristobal hills. As long as the weather is decent, you can take in the stunning views and grab a panoramic view of the city. The shrine and associated statue is amazing to stand up close and in person to see what's visible from the foothill. Great show of craftsmanship and it's pretty easy to come up here.

In the month of May, I started the hike up early in the morning in hopes of a beautiful view from on top. However due to the weather, we could not see a single thing. Either way the air was crisp and the statue on top is worth the climb.

To get here, you need to either take the funicular up or hike. In front of the funicular there is a tourist kiosk that has maps, and you can ask for directions. We took the funicular up, and walked up to the top. However, we tried finding our way down the hill by hiking, got lost, and ended up exciting the park near Los Condes. It turned out to be a fun mistake adventure, people watching and great views. We had to take the subway back into town.

Cerro San Cristobal is one of the most famous tourist spots in Santiago, Chile. When my mother decided to visit me during my days in Chile, this was the first place I thought about bringing her. I knew she would enjoy the amazing view overlooking Santiago, the Andes Mountains and the Cordillera de la Costa. If you’re wondering was is that large hill that can be found in the middle of Santiago, that is the famous Cerro San Cristobal and the hill is important to many different people. For some, it is a religious pilgrimage place due to the 22 meter marble statue of Virgin Mary placed atop of a hill. For other, it is a amazing place to cycle and run and they use the hill’s open space to train and have fun. For me, this is a place to enjoy Santiago from the top and to take pictures of everything.

Very peaceful place to come, whether you are religious or not. We enjoyed spending some moments praying in the chapel and sitting on the steps listening to the music and enjoying the view. Some beautiful landscaping next to the chapel on the handicap path.

Nice view of the city if it's not too polluted outside. Takes about 45 minutes to do the trail hike, which I'd recommend because it's less crowded than the road path and easy enough anyone can do it!

I'm not a religious person by any means but still appreciate the Virgen as an artistic sculpture that crowns the hill as well as the sweeping views of the city and mountains around. It was Christmas Day when we ascended and it was so lovely to hear the mass played over loud speaker and Christmas carols in spanish permeating the air
