Beautiful! A must see… go into Sears … yes I said Sears across the street from the front of the building, take the elevator to the 8th floor and there is a cafe that overlooks the building. I took the picture from there. China town is a 2 minute walk from here, also the post office famous for its architecture is 2 minutes too. Alameda park is work a stroll through as well

A must visit if you are in Mexico City. The architecture is beautiful and if you can go to the sears cafe across the street, I would definitely recommend that. The view of the palacio from the sears cafe is unreal. Go here while the sun is setting for an even better experience

Splendid place to visit, for around $4 dollars you can go into the museum I went on Monday, The building itself is gorgeous. Inside it's like a museum and a theater all in one. I can't speak to the acoustics of the theater because we didn't see a show there, but we did see two different exhibits, as well as the huge murals on the walls, remember museums are closed on Mondays. Fantastic venue. Amazing folkloric dance performance! Don't bother buying tickets online just walk in prior to performance and buy...much easier and cheaper. We would go again and again. Without doubt, there's a pretty place to visit in CDMX

A stunning piece of architecture in the heart of the city. This is a great meeting place for people and there is a lively feel in the grounds surrounding this place in both the day and the night. The iconic rooftop really stands out and it is well worth a visit to explore the many beautiful sculptures that surround the grounds.

This was one of the most memorable experience in my visit to Mexico City. We visited the Palacio de Bellas Artes during the weekend and saw a Ballet Folklorico de México show. It was a very emotional performance and the venue completely immersed you. The building’s architecture is stunning. The shows are almost always sold out, so you should either purchase your tickets in advance or arrive at least two hours before the show.

Absolutely exquisite! I feel the Mexican culture has such a richness and vibrancy to it. You can see it in their art. The vast murals capture the past, the history, the struggle, the temples, the gods. It weaves all of life together in depth and beauty!

I think most people go to see the murals by Rivera but everyone comes away awestruck by the beauty of the building itself. It is truly an amazing building like a fairytale from the Jazz Age, all marble and brass - even the toilets look fantastic! Senior citizens get in free!

The museum has some really cool murals. That alone was worth seeing. Especially on Sunday because admission was free. And who doesn't love free! But to be honest. The rest of the pieces they displayed was kinda meh! Of course art is in the eye of the beholder. So take that with a grain of salt. So it loses a star for the art. But it loses another star for the security. I have toured an Aircraft carrier and a prison. Both had less security. Literally there was a guard every ten feet. Barking directives at visitors as they walked by. It was quite unsettling. I spent more time worrying I was standing in the wrong place than enjoying the art.

This church is so beautiful. Was built in the 1500s and is a must see! The detail, the architecture, the historical significance makes it a must. We had the pleasure of seeing a wedding. Just make sure you don't take pics of any events going on; I got yelled at 😂

You have to see the National Mexican Folkloric Show. It's a blast. The show is about 2 hrs long. But it worth every second of it. The stage is very deep, with the great sound and lights. The maximum quantity of artists on the stage is about 50 people at a time. It's really very impressive. The costumes are gorgeous. It's guaranteed that you'll have long lasting memories about your trip to the CDMX.

The architecture on the outside is impeccable, and the art inside is so different and truly varies from room to room. For the most part they are smaller pieces, or items that could probably also be considered well-preserved artifacts. There’s also more seating than I anticipated, which is great for people who can’t stand for extended periods of time, or those who just want to take breaks in-between rooms. I wish I had purchased a ticket for a show so that I could see the inside of the theatre!

Beautiful building both inside and out! The murals inside are breathtaking and full of detail. You would need about 3 hours or more to really fully take it all in. The architecture of the building so unique and a wonderful mix of traditional and contemporary Mexican influences. Even if not to see the artwork, I would recommend coming inside to just look around. It's so worth it! Note: Visited prior to COVID, so things may be different.

The truth is that I love to be inside, his really great paintings that transmit emotions. The entrance is terrible, because they say that only teachers or students can enter, and my mother, who is a researcher at Cinvestav and is accepted as a teacher everywhere, is not accepted as a teacher here. So researchers who come here are not welcome there.

Fun tourist destination. Old Mexico architecture. Lots to see. Good time to go would be after 5pm. Gets more fun after dark. Lots of street vendors. I enjoyed a bike taxi ride on the way back to the parking garage. Even though the Museum of Temple Mayor was closed, you can still see the Ancient Aztec ruins, as it is open air.

What's beautiful building! Even if you are not a huge art fan this is a great building to explore. Local and well known artists exhibit here. There is a grand gallery area as well as smaller galleries off to the side. I would like to see a performance in the grand hall next time. Worth the stop!

The Palacio de Bellas Artes is beautiful, from the the garden hall to the architecture. There are massive art pieces in the gallery. Although the time I went did not have a big exhibit going on. But seeing the revolution pictures of Diego Rivera was an amazing experience. Pro tip, the ice cream sold outside are delicious. After spending time climbing the stairs, buy some cold sweets and relax in the garden.

(Translated by Google) Inaugurated under the name of Museum of Plastic Arts, on November 29, 1934, it was the first art museum in Mexico, that is, the first cultural venue dedicated to exhibit artistic objects for contemplation. His collection included pieces from the sixteenth century to the murals of Diego Rivera and José Clemente Orozco in 1934, as well as a Mesoamerican sculpture room, a Mexican print room and a Museum of Popular Art, which housed the Roberto Montenegro collection. From 1968 onwards, the exhibition halls of the Palace were known as the Museum of the Palace of Fine Arts, which was not only the first museum dedicated to plastic production, but also the undisputed origin of the system of art museums in Mexico. Since then, the museum has been commissioned to constitute the main action platform and exhibition space for national and international artists. Of the enormous collection that housed during the first half of its history, the Museum of the Palace of Fine Arts currently permanently exhibits 17 mural works of seven national artists executed between 1928 and 1963, maintains an intense program of temporary exhibitions, as well as a great amount of activities for all public. If you visit this Palacio, remember that they have a tour which I highly recommend. They will show you the Theatre but the tour is in Spanish from what I remember so you have two choices: befriend a Spanish speaker or read about it on Wikipedia ahead of time. what I love about Palacio de Bellas Artes are the huge paintings by Diego Rivera. genius! also the glass work of the dome.

The building itself, in particular the exterior of the building, is a stunning example of historical architecture. To my taste the interior is overbearing, however and not ideally suited to showcase the giant murals of Diego Rivera and the others whose work is housed therein. While attending a performance or special event in the museum would likely be a special experience I would not recommend paying the the entrance fee to go in, other than to those who have a particular interest in these muralists and who understand they’ll be seeing just a few fine murals.

Palacio de Bellas Artes a great historical place with stunning architecture work and murals. Full of history and talented artists just to name a few Diego Rivera, David Alfaro Siqueiros, Jorge González Camarena, Rufino Tamayo, José Clemente Orozco, Roberto Montenegro and plenty more. At the moment some exhibits are closed, price is $75 pesos for entrance that covers ground to 3rd floor and $55 pesos for the 4th floor. Furthermore there's a gift shop, restrooms, and plenty of space to take pictures inside and outside. Highly recommend to check out if you happen to be in CDMX 🇲🇽.

Jaw dropping architecture…visually impressive and beautiful! I have never seen anything like this before! The atmosphere and energy all around was cool. So many family and friends gathering enjoying the view and taking pictures. The view from the top of the Sears tower is what I did since it was tough getting a picture from below with the crowds. Highly recommend!

This is an excellent example of Art Deco design. On the top level there is about 10 murals with at least two by Diego Rivera. There is also an exhibit by an important Mexico artist. Some paintings but mainly sculpture. Tourists will pay 90 pesos at the time of this writing, but Mexican citizens and residents will be free on Sundays. The performance hall is also supposed to be gorgeous, but you will need to arrange to buy tickets to see a performance. This venue can be done in one to two hours

This place was grand yet welcoming. The location is very easily accessed and staff were incredibly helpful (even though we required someone to speak to us in English). At the time of visiting they had two main displays ongoing which were projections in a dark room telling the tale of the establishment of Mexico City and then multiple murals all over the walls inside the building. The location was clean and accessible and on the day of visiting it was free to do so. We were able to join onto an English tour which walked us through the whole building and explained all the murals as well as giving us time to just sit and appreciate the art before us. I’d highly recommend a visit here, it could be as quick as 20 minutes or you could sit and stare for hours. It might be a little lacking in excitement for kids though. You can not take any drinks into the facility and we were made to finish ours and dispose of our bottles upon entering.

Elegant from the outside, this is also an architectural gem inside, with a beautiful art deco interior. You can wander around and appreciate this for free on the first level, but it’s worth paying the admission fee to go upstairs and appreciate it from above as well. The upper level is home to some famous murals, including ones by Diego Rivera and José Clemente Orozco.

This is the most disappointing art musem I've ever been to. Could not believe how small this museum was! You are really just paying to see the murals which are beautiful (one star). The exterior is so classic and grand, but once you walk in, the space is depressing because of the big pillars. We couldnt view the actual music hall and realized we were actually just paying and viewing the lobby of the orchestra theater. Also, given how much they charged for the admission ticket for just the murals, they dared to charge an extra 65pesos for just the 3rd floor that just had some photographs. A bit scammy if I might add. Additionally, this so the first art museum I've been to that doesn't even have free wifi. Don't recommend at all. 90 pesos to view a lobby. (And 65 pesos more if you want to view the whole lobby). How did this place gain so much positive review???

The architecture of the place is astonishing. The inside prevails with an art-deco atmosphere clearly taking you back to the 1930s with its marble floors and walls. The murals are spectacular. It also has a wholesome library inside packed with interesting books and classics.

This is an iconic place for Mexico City, but almost all visitors are only able to come to the museum of Palacio. Unfortunately, I must admit that the place is extremely overrated. You may visit three floors there, two of them are the photos exhibition. The one on the first doesn’t even worth a glance, the one on the third floor is pretty good. Other thing to see is murals on the wall, and they are pretty nice as well.

This place has an amazing history and exterior. The interior theater is beautiful with the tiffany glass curtain. But I would skip the tour as it's a bit boring and all the info given can be found online. Also dont bother paying to see the murals as there is no enforcement to gain access. When I went the top level exhibit was under renovation so not much to see.

Awesome exterior and good place to hangout. On Sundays is free admission, but we went around the building on Wednesday. Good photos. There is a coffee shop on the right floor in sears building, where you have better views.

Went on a Sunday when admission is free for the general public. Beautiful interior with murals by famous artists including Diego Rivera. There are also temporary exhibitions to the side. The architecture museum is on the top floor; there was an exhibit about the metro system when we went. All the signs were in Spanish.

So disappointed by my visit. The outside is beautiful and worth seeing. The inside is awful. The theater was closed, which nobody told me until after I bought my ticket. It felt like half the museum was closed because of Covid. It was a complete maze to navigate, with arrows on the ground that didn't point consistent paths and half the stairways blocked off. The murals are great, there are ~10 of them, but there are zero descriptions about them whatsoever which feels very inaccessible. Architecture museum on the top floor is another 55 pesos and it is also awful...has basically nothing in it.

A beautiful and historic Concert Hall/Theatre in the Historic Downtown (el Zocalo) of Mexico City. El Palacio de Bellas Artes, which translates to the Palace of Fine Arts, hosts a variety of different culturally significant events such as Folkloric Dances and Concerts performed by the Mexican National Symphony Orchestra (OSN, Orquestra Sinfónica National). The best place to sit is either in the bottom level in rows 3 to 9 or in the first few rows of the balcony. Make sure to arrive a solid hour before the concert, and account for transit time as well. There are tours in the off hours of the Palace and are quite informative and educational. Overall, this is a can't miss icon of Mexico City. Try attending a concert if possible, or at least visiting. Fun fact, since the Palace is made almost entirely of marble and build atop a lake-bed (the whole city is, really), it is slowly sinking as evident in the exterior!

By far my favorite place in all of Mexico City!!!! I went here first to see the museum, and again for the Folklore Ballet. Such a beautiful place with incredible artwork. Museum 5/5 Buy tickets at the door. If you show up early, you get a more peaceful experience with almost no people. The bathrooms are very well maintained but are only on the 2nd floor after buying your entry ticket. Staff is very nice, helpful, and professional. Ballet Folklorico 5/5 It was divine; a classy night out to see skilled dancers perform cultural acts including Aztec and Mayan dances. If I ever return to Mexico City, I will visit for 2 or 3 of their events. They have a few different ones throughout the week. It's that good!! I recommend buying ballet tickets in advance for the best seats. Safety 5/5 The Museum is in the heart of the historic district. There is a positive police presence all around. You can see multiple officers on either side of the surrounding streets. Ambiance 5/5 There are tons of street vendors at the outside plaza and the surrounding streets. You can get some nice street food and just enjoy the weather and positive energy of the people hanging out.

Tour not longer than 1-1.5hour for the whole exhibition, but worth the 80pesos entrance fee. Would recommend rather going for a show, the theater part (closed during the day) looked impressive on the models.

Visiting this museum dedicated to Mexico's artists/muralists is a must. Along with adjacent park and many local museums makes a great day out. For serious art lovers, it can take a few days to appreciate. Little explanation is given in English. Google the artists and individual paintings to better understand the revolutionary history. The building architecture inside and out is magnificent. Older visitors go free.

It’s a really cool place on the outside! You can take awesome pictures. However, the expositions on the inside are super short. We finished checking them out in 45min. I wish they increase the amount of exhibitions in the future because the place is huge.

Bellas Artes is a mandatory visit for me each time that I go to Mexico City, the great Tenochtitlán. I was afraid that Amalia Hernandez’s ballet was going to be very similar to the performance we saw 4 years prior, but they made significant changes. This resulted in enough novelty and a very nice artistic experience. The dance and the customs were amazing. The music, unfortunately, was not, as they lacked a live orchestra. The venue is an architectural gem with a very rich history. Mexicans and foreigners alike should pay a visit to Bellas Artes!

The Palacio de Bellas Artes is definitely one of the most breathtaking buildings I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of amazing architecture in Mexico City. It's truly a masterpiece and a testament to the beauty and grandeur of this incredible city.

Can't miss the iconic grandeur of this architectural world class beauty. We saw Amalia Hernandez' Ballet Folklorico. Pictures cannot do this performance justice. Incomparable. The costumes, beauty, choreography, music, and dance evoke cultural emotion like no other. I've seen many performances all over the world. I would come back to CDMX just to see this show again. Thank you Amalia.

An iconic architecture along with a well preserved art collection. By far one of the “must see” places in the city. Be sure to spend some time in the Alameda Central that is by the theater and if you can enjoy a show.

A must see when you visit Mexico City. The Palacio and the park right next to it are very nice and well maintained. One of the numerous historical sights right in the same area. Don't miss having coffee at the terrace lounge at the Sears building across the street. (8th floor) really good coffee and amazing views of the Palacio de Bellas Artes building.

I highly recommend the free tour of the theater on the inside. There are 2 slots, 13 and 13.30, not sure though on what days. The tour gives a complete and very nice explanation of the theater (in Spanish).

Beautiful art deco interior. It's free to go in and look around and take photos. The museum was a great experience. They also have a box office inside to purchase tickets for up coming events/ shows.

This Art Nouveau/Deco pearl of artistic brilliance, houses a truly magnificent collection of a vide variety Mexican art, from murals to sculptures, there is something for everyone. The palacio features both permanent and visiting exhibitions, as well as concerts, presentations, and performances. The gift shop is also definitely worth a visit. The only setback is that admission is cash only 🤷‍♂️

Great museum and great theater. The museum is free on Sundays (note that you’ll have to pay to use your camera 30mxn$). It’s definitely worth visiting. It won’t take you long to see the main pieces. The theatre is gorgeous! We saw the folkloric ballet and it was amazing. If you have the opportunity it’s a must see.

There is few to say about the great Mexican muralist that decore the great walks of the Bellas Artes Palace. Their work speaks by itself. What I can tell you is that the shear beauty of the doors that welcome you to a past time of rather difficult but simpler times, the magnificent roofs and ceilings gives you the feeling of being so minuscule. And to top it all of the details of Art Deco leaves you in awe of how many years of effort and preciseness had to be invested into such a complete piece of art that is the building it self. I recommend not to miss a single detail and to pay special attention on how complex and intricate the Palace of Bellas artes is.

Very beautiful, lots to do inside. Definitely recommend the guided tour to the main room, they offer it twice a day and lasts 30 min. Tours in Spanish and English

Full of amazing murals by the most famous Mexican artists, it's more meaningful if you get a tour guide to explain the murals before visiting a book a visit with a non-profit organization "educando con cultura" in various social media networks or through their website, it's worth it

The building is impressive from outside but if you’re not a person who can appreciate art, it doesn’t make sense going inside.

Palacio de Bellas Artes is a MUST go in CDMX. That second floor is one of the highlights of my entire CDMX trip. Extremely beautiful, powerful, detailed, and thoughtful murals that you can honestly spend easily an hour staring at. Not the mention the palace itself is very well made too!
