Super! Amazing food and great experience, very good dining environment. Three sections all with different ambiences. Food was with great local ingredients l, very fresh! Was interesting how the tartar goes last…

The positives: the food is great and some dishes where amazing! The decor and vibe is good and fun/modern. Seeing the kitchen in full action close up adds a very interesting dimension to the experience and I really liked that. Seeing Martin keeping it all under control and getting the dishes out was an awesome experience. They have a class garden area at the back where you can have a coffee or a drink after your meal. That was really nice and felt relaxed and allowed some time to take it all in. The strange bits: The way the restaurant is set up (Sharing a big table with other people / you don't get a say on what food you order / more laid back service than one would expect) will not be for everyone! I thought that losing control over what you order allowed us to try some things that I would not have ordered normally. My favourite dish of the day was discovered this way. Sharing a table was a bit intimidating for me but not too much of a problem after the initial shock. It also allows you to have a sneaky look at your neighbors dish and feel good, or bad, about what lands in front of you. I didn't get to try the tartar but my neighbor did :( but we got one up on them when our amazing fish salad appeared and they had a measly soup :) The service was great but not the normal over the top, which I think is the point and I liked it. The negatives: way to rushed. Having two slots for dinner (8:30 or 10:30) means that they need rush you. There wasn't a massive explanation of the dishes and by the time you are on the desert, 65 minutes after sitting down, you are overwhelmed and have forgotten what you first had! Not expecting the A to Z on each plate but a bit of showmanship and education is always nice. But the biggest problem for me was the dishes and presentation. I get this is probably my own particular expectation for a Michelin star restaurant, and lots of people will not care about this, but I love seeing all the unique ways of serving the food and the amazing plates, dishes, knifes and other amazing things these chefs use to present the food... I guess that they have changed the dishes since the last photos I saw before booking the restaurant because everything was served on boring white plates and one of them was chipped... That bit was really disappointing for me and hence the 3 stars review. But the food was very good!

Simply exceptional! The food, the staff, the wine all exceptional. By far the best experience I have had in all of Spain! It was so good that I am considering flying from Madrid to Santiago to take my friend who is visiting from the USA in September. A must to book and a must to dine if you happen to visit Santiago. I didn’t take many photos because we ate the food very fast! After finishing lunch, we sat in the garden to take coffee and the Resturant didn’t want us to rush and enjoy the full experience.

The food and ambiance was amazing. Got a last minute reservation and this place was amazing. The food was great and possibly one of the best Michelin star restaurants I've been in. It was very decently priced and really felt a lot of value for the money I paid. Must try and highly recommend!

We visited last night for the second time. We were a little nervous as the first experience had been so fantastic but we were not disappointed. The food and service were amazing. Watching the chefs at work was brilliant. So much attention to detail. We loved the new decor too with the little quirky touches. Will definately visit again next time we are in Santiago de Compostela

Casa Marcelo is a one-of-a-kind experience. The style of service, where guests sit on a long table all together and the restaurant chooses the 6-course meal for the night, is unique and unexpected (I didn’t do my homework before arrival but I don’t mind the surprise). The wait staff take their jobs seriously and work promptly and I can tell the head of FOH puts a lot of his heart into his work. I also admire a place that works with an open kitchen, as I understand the level of discipline it takes to work in and maintain one. The decor is also unique, the modern interior decor stood out, especially in the bathroom. The food was rich and well-crafted. I was most impressed by the sea bass (tender, moist, delicious), while my least favourite was the Chinese aubergine (something I felt I could realistically do at home — not that this is a bad thing at all, but when I dine at a Michelin star I do come to expect the unexpected). The bread was marvellous, I haven’t had bread so wonderful in recent or distant memory. For about £200 for two people, Casa Marcelo is an experience worth putting on your list if you are visiting Santiago.

Dinner at this restaurant was the celebration after completing the Portuguese Caminho Coastal Route and it was the best meal of the trip. I went alone and had a seat at the counter overlooking the kitchen. I could see and speak with the chefs. The seat in the kitchen was an amazing experience in itself. This restaurant does not have menus. They ask about your dietary restrictions then they bring the courses. We began with a Galician oyster in a cream sauce with caviar. It was wonderful but oysters from here lack the buttery richness of oysters from the US/CA/AU/NZ. Next were sliced scallops in a cream sauce that was just incredible, probably my favourite dish. Then there was a hake cerviche on a bed of lettuce, another taste sensation. We then had the one grilled item of the dinner, a beautifully grilled salmon, of course perfectly done. Finally the next main which was veal tartare. It was also fabulous but my least favourite dish that I wouldn't normally order. Dessert was a tart, it did not stand out for me. I saw others were getting a Napoleon pastry so I was a bit disappointed. I had wine by the glass starting with a white alvareino and then a local red under the Casa Marcelo label. The white was excellent, the red was okay. I finished with a dessert wine but again just okay. The evening was memorable and I would definitely return. The kitchen counter seating for one or two is very interesting and fun. The staff have an excellent service mind and attitude. While expensive, it is an excellent value.

Casa Marcelo - the somewhat different Galicia. On reception of friends I visited the restaurant. At first glance from the outside a very nondescript dark store with a kind of statue on the shop window. But as soon as you enter, you are no longer in the old town of Santiago de Compostela, but in a world of its own. A very hip and bright store, with a lot of life. The concept itself is ingenious - "I will feed you". You name your allergies and intolerances and get a tailored menu of several courses. The food is a blast, the "normal" Galician cuisine is already very good, but this resturant pimps it up to another level. I can heartily recommend the restaurant. Apart from the ambience and the food, the team is the highlight of the restaurant. Very friendly and helpful, they accompany you through the evening. Many thanks for that.

One of the finest meals I have had in Spain. Inventive and appealing flavors without the trendy gimmicks that are often employed by other restaurants. Pure culinary artistry.

3rd time going and somehow even better this time around. Easily one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. Every dish served is incredible, bold and exploding in amazing flavours. All this in a relaxed, informal environment with great service and a beautiful space. Anyone who enjoys incredible dining experiences has to come here.

Excellent everything. My second visit, 5yrs later. Same format - Chef asks "..tell me what you don't like and I'll give you what you will like..". Great experience. I'll be back...

Unexpectedly delicious fusion restaurant using fresh local ingredients with a twist. The experience was extraordinary, from the shared tables (we were very lucky and got front view of the kitchen), to the attentive service and the amazing flavors and presentation of all dishes from the appetizers to desserts. The team is already fantastic and I loved how the lady chef took the time to provide feedback to the staff. I wonder what they could do if they took the pressure down a notch and bring a bit of fun to their craft? We’ll definitely be back!!

An amazing restaurant. The food, the atmosphere, everything was perfect. You do not get to choose the food you order (although they do ask if you dislike raw foods/specific food) which provides an interesting experience and takes you away from ordering the same thing you normally would. The food you do get, excellent. The atmosphere, excellent. For most of the restaurant, you sit together with other people (but there are larger spaces between groups on the long tables) and this provides a more intimate experience and one I would find true to a Japanese experience (given it is meant to be fusion). If you are in the area, would recommend for sure. The perfect journey of flavour.

Absolutely delicious restaurant in a quiet street in the heart of Santiago. If you like seafood and not having to pick from a menu, you need to come here; the chefs will sort everything for you. Delicious food, great service, and an excellent wine list as well.

We sat at the chef’s table, which was absolutely fantastic. I was about one metre away from a chef preparing food. The kitchen was calm and it was a lovely atmosphere. We started with some traditional garlic soup with mackerel, which was good, if slightly bland; then there was delicious tuna sashimi, which came with olive oil and balsamic vinegar rather than the classic soy and wasabi. The tuna was amazing, but I would have preferred soy and wasabi. Next was a fried potato dish where the potatoes had been sliced then put together like leeks, before being fried and served with egg yolk. That was amazing but felt like more of a side dish. Then was a seabass dish which came with apple dressing: really delicious. Best course of the meal. The last savoury course was quail with a sticky sauce. That was really good but I think the potato dish should have been served as a side to that. Finally, we had two desserts: one was a berry sorbet with cream and the other a millefeuil with custard. The former was ok but nothing special; the latter was excellent. Overall, the food was really good. The main issue was that it came way too quickly. I think it was about an hour between our first and our last (seventh) courses, which is a bit too fast in my opinion. We were then encouraged to have a drink outside; I got the impression they wanted us to leave to free up the seats. Maybe a longer sitting would be preferable. That said, it was a really nice experience and I really enjoyed the food.

Concept is a tasting menu where you do not know what you will get nor number of courses (exact words “I decide what you eat”). Food was inventive and delicious but the service was pushy and very rushed which left a bad taste in our mouth. Honestly the dinner slots should be removed (8.30-10.20, 10.30 - 12), as we no longer have the covid curfew and this kind of food needs to be enjoyed slowly (if not then don’t do a tasting menu). At times they did not even explain the dish that they served us and were very quick to clear our plates even though some of us had not finished. If they just let the customer take the time to enjoy the meal it would’ve been a 5 star experience.

We’ve been going to this restaurant for years and it never gets boring. The service is excellent and have now introduced a terrace that is not to be missed if weather allows. Tip: let your waiter decide what to eat, you won’t leave disappointed.

An amazing experience. For a group of peregrinos finishing our camino, this was the ultimate stop for our group lunch together. They have a beautiful private room, a stunning selection of wines, delicious menu. Vegetarian options available. Truly fantastic. We were so grateful to the entire team for such an incredible experience. Thank you for making our final day together so very special!
